Narcia – The Festival

   Well, I am certainly intrigued about this performance...   , I replied to Kevin, placing the end of one of my left arm on my left hip(?).

I mean, you don't always get the chance to watch something like this once in a lifetime.

And then, I repeat: THIS IS A FESTIVAL DEDICATED TO US! Are they really going to dissapointed their heroes?! Ohohohoho, I don't think so...

"C'mooon, it's badass. Besides, I've always wanted to be an anime character," I joke, emitting more flames. They stay in place, only to die out aga- "Woah, what!?" This entire time, I've been seeing if I could try shaping them like Dana mentioned and I watch as the fireballs shatter into a bunch of sparks… Though, they still fade away after a bit. But (holy shit, that was cool.) "… Did you see that?!" I ask, most definitely excited.

"I guess that's one upside to coming here, we get to- OH, nice! That was pretty close, I think?"

"Haha!" I laugh a little with glee. "Holy crap, I almost got it… Okay, let me keep trying it!" In my haste, I mess up the first part of having the fire stay put and accidentally fire them into the sky. "… Oops. S-Sorry, let me try again. Getting a little too giddy here…"
A little more focused, I create the floating flames and manage to break them apart again, leaving several, floating needles of fire. Though they linger longer, I fail to keep them around longer. "Alright," I say, shaking myself into the zone. "Third time's the charm…!" Once more, I create five floating fireballs. With some concentration, I cause them to shatter into several, fiery bolts. And now that I've got the hang of this, they actually stick around.
And I probably have the dumbest smile on my face right now. With an experimental, mental push, I start making them move. They start slowly swirling around my body. "Ha… hahaha…! Dana! I think I got it!"

"A...a split personality." [I laugh a little.] "You're joking..." [It's probably not a joke, but...I mean, is it? That seems ridiculous, there's got to be...]

[...is it? It is ridiculous...but...it makes sense...]

[No. No, this can't be it. It's got to be something else, it has to be. I will admit, it does make sense, and I guess there's the whole out-me deal...or...other me...or whoever...]

[No, it can't be this. It just can't! I'm fine, I'm doing fine, I am sane, I am...]

"...y...this...this isn't..." [I'm starting to freak out a little. A month ago, I was normal...I was well-adjusted, I wasn't a blithering idiot half the time, I wasn't doing stupid shit half the time, I was fine...I was fine, really, I...but this, this couldn't happen so fast, right? There's gotta be something else explaining these lapses in memory, whatever the hell out-me or other-me or...]

"...how do I fix this?" [I stare into Koss' eyes, breath wavering, hoping for something, anything...]

The crowd's fervent anger only worsens. "So you started having people killed?!" "What more could you say to justify this?!" "I lost my son to the Surge in Milklett, I wouldn't think I'd lose another to you!" "I've been panicked enough about these murders already!" "Damn politicians, murderin' us right under our noses and trying to act like we should be sorry for her!" "I was thinking those rituals worked!" "String her up and let her entrails hangs out!" "Henrik, nooo!"

Some of the crowd does end up peeling off, a mother quickly shepherding her child back to their home for one, but it's far too little a trickle and far too much of a wave that seems intent on crashing into Amy.

(On the set, a Dwebble whispered to the Swalot. After a few moments, the Swalot turned to the crowd.) Ladies and gentlemon, due to unforeseen events, our main event will not happen in an hour from now. (One dramatic pause from the Swalot.) No. In fact, our main event will happen right now!

From the humble village of Blissparce, she lived her life as a simple berry farmer, but her strength was yet untapped! Her potential was yet to be discovered! And when she finally found her talent after stopping a duo out-of-control Snorlaxes after an accident, she began to realize that she was destined for greatness! She left the village to explore her true power and lo and behold, she's come here to demonstrate how powerful she can be! Ladies, gentlemon, children of all ages, I introduce to you: BIIIIIG BEEERTHA!

(The curtains are drawn back, revealing a Bewear flexing to show off her muscular, yet fuzzy build. Three Kantonian Golems hustled from the side and stacked themselves on top of each other. In response, she lifted the stack and placed them on her head. Sure enough, the rock Pokémon were kept in balance.)

(The exuberant Poison Bag Pokémon continued with big sweeping gestures.) Look at that! A pillar of Golems and she carries them with only her head! But she can do much more! And for that, she'll need some volunteers! Can any of you among the crowd test her might?

(Marsha brings Marlon over to the stand. Upon seeing the two approach, the Shiny Whimsicott's eyes begin shifting around as if they're looking for someone.)

Uh, Larry, you can people-watch later. Aren't you going to serve these two?

Oh, yes! (The Whimsicott says, turning to Marlon and Marsha with a (somewhat forced-looking) smile on his face.) How may I help you two today?

Uh, yeahs, what sorta cakes do yas have here? (Marsha asks, a bit put-off by the Whimsicott's odd behavior.)

Oh, any cakes you can think of! Payapa, Mago, Custap, Oran, you name it! All made using this wonderful fellow's family recipe! (Larry says, motioning to the Slurpuff.)

My most popular flavor's Mago, if you want to try that. (The Slurpuff says.)

(Marsha looks to Marlon.) Hmm, I kinda leanin' toward da Payapa cake. Whaddya say, Marly?

(While waiting in line to get Sally a candied Berry, I idly begin watching a show that has started nearby that seems to be featuring a very strong Bewear.)

Bzz...maybe we should move out of here...

Oui, this is getting worse... (Maran wraps Sunny under one arm and Cortez under another-) HEY!! (-and flies away to the top of a nearby building.)

(Izabel is also starting to flee. Mia's too busy trying to help her parents control the crowd, so it seems that one of the other two Dos Santos siblings would be the best ones to follow her, provided they aren't busy themselves.)

(I remain in the same position I've been in for the past while, desperately hoping that things around here calm down in a hurry.)

(All the while, Amy is getting increasingly flustered over how ugly the mood of the crowd is getting, but there's no getting around the fact that she's responsible for this.) EVERYONE CALM DOWN!! (She shouts.) I-I understand your frustration! Anger, even!

Amy, pardon my language, but you might want to cut the crap and get to the point of your speech before everyone tears you apart. (Taylor R whispers to Amy.)

(Amy gives the Ammoonguss a rather annoyed look and turns back to the crowd.) I don't suppose I need to tell you that I'm r-resigning as the mayor's assistant over the trouble I've caused for you all. I-I-I have no choice but to, at this point. The traditional offering will return to being annual like it was in the p-past. I'm sorry I made you waste Berry crops over this... (She says, stammering a bit. She's getting increasingly worried the crowd is going to tear her apart before she can finish.)

Dana smiles back, any previous worries washed away by Nyquil's own excitement.

"Wow, that't great!"

"Ah'm no—"

Koss pauses, and cuts himself off as he sees how Eliot is reacting. He knows he has to give the mon some hope, even as he's unsure of the process himself. So, he latches onto the first idea he has, and prays to Arceus that he won't make a liar out of himself on top of everything else.

"...t able ta fix ya up mahself, but ah'm sure the guild'll know someone wit' more 'xperience. Ah'll talk ta them, an' in the meantime ah'll see if'n ah can find anythin' ta help soothe the symptoms. Would ya mind me observin' ya fer jus' a bit longer, though?"

Mila watches Koss intently, silently brooding over her own frustrations with how detached he's acting in the situation. Whether he means it or is just using it as a defense mechanism, she's thinking the best she can to find some sort of way to calm Eliot down. In the end, she simple puts a paw on top of one of Eliot's hands and starts to rub his arm lightly. Anything she can remember her own mother doing to try to calm her—(him then, still strange to consider nowadays)—down as a child.

"O-oh, I see. Thank you. I think I should go get something for Mila, though."

Autumn does her best to excuse herself courteously all the while mulling over her instinctive reactions to Hikari's introduction. Maybe it's how she reminds Autumn of the other end of the spectrum she's walking such a fine line on, the diplomacy she stomachs when necessary but could never keep up with. Something reminds her of the days trapped at court, and she has to remind herself that none of that is Hikari's fault.

Still, what she said was true, and Autumn looks through the vendors lining the streets to try to find something to bring back to Mila, Koss, and the rest. Whatever they were talking about, none of them looked particularly happy, and she didn't want to interrupt without something to broker calm.

Still ecstatic, I dispel the flames around me and hop forward and grab one of Dana's paws with both of mine. "This is awesome! Thank you, Dana!" The size of my grin is enough to force me to squint. And it's nice to know that she seems happy, too. (… Wait, did I just grab her-) I let go and step back a bit, my smile unwavering, but my eyes darting away. "Eh… ehehe… sorry, got a little too excited there…"

Hmm..I guess I'd also wanna do the Payapa Cake. How much do we need to pay?

My glance briefly drifts off as the beginning of what appears to be a strongman Show occurs, before I bring my attention back forward to Marsha and the stand owners. Something seems odd about this situation, namely how the Whimsicott seemed to be looking for someone before we came to their stand.

Kevin watches with intrigue as the Bewear, "Big Bertha", does her act, lifting three Golem up. He knew of things like this at home, but never saw it up close, and now he has. He looks among those gathered with him at the stand when it is mentioned that someone could be a volunteer to her test of strength.

So, uh...anyone wanna volunteer?

Kevin doesn't step up to volunteer himself, but he might bite the bullet if nobody else does.

Phil and Dennis watch as Autumn wanders among the stands. They aside to one another.

Say, Phil, is that the Foxfell Princess?

Uh, I dunno, Dennis, looks like any other Braixen to me.

Well, regardless, princess or not, we need customers somehow.

It would seem Dennis is about to do something when Phil stops him.

Don't do anything dumb, Dennis, remember how we were almost arrested once?

The pair collectively sigh and continue to monwatch, hoping that Autumn does come to their stand. Phil gets to work on cooking some more berries.

The situation is only getting worse. Tiff realizes this is a lost cause. She starts darting over to her sister as fast as possible.

*Split... personality... Hoo god, something about that sends a chill right down my spine and back up again. I hold onto Eliot's other arm while keeping my eyes on Koss.*

PJ: "I really did miss a hell of a lot these past few days, didn't I? Will... This won't be too much of a problem, right? ...Maybe that was a stupid question."

*I look up at El. He's... not looking so hot, but that's no surprise.*

PJ: "Are you gonna be okay right now, El?"

Just 2500 Poké per cake is all we're asking for! (Larry says.)

Welp, okey dokey, pal. I'll cover for us, Marly. (Marsha says, handing 5000 Poké over to the Whimsicott.)

(The Whimsicott eagerly takes the cash and hands over the Payapa cakes.) Thank you, thank you, thank you! Enjoy! (He says, looking back and forth between the Marduo and the cash. The Slurpuff clears his throat, and Larry sheepishly hands the Poké over to him.)

(Marsha turns to Marlon and hands him his cake.) So...where to now? Wanna go see what da deal is with dis Bertha fella dey're yammerin' about ova dair?

(While watching the performance from the line, I'm startled by the Spewpa behind me clearing their throat.) Ahem, ma'am...

(Oh! Oh, I didn't realize I was already at the front of the line! I spin around and face toward the counter.) Hello?

(Izzy doesn't have to be told twice. She begins hurrying away from the increasingly antsy crowd as fast as she can.)

Steph the quiet Kadabra looks a bit clueless, but she brightens up, "At least that means I get psychic powers and a mustashe..." She squints, "Although that means I need to trim my mustashe every few weeks and why do I have a metal spoon that I have to carry everywhere with me now?" She decides to ask around the area, using her dewclaw to walk around on all fours. "Must balance myself perfectly... ooof... I thought Kadabras are supposed to be masters of balance?"

Dana blinks a couple times at being grabbed.

"Oh, uh, it's fine. You're welcome, I guess?"

Ffffffuck. (Aaand I ruined the moment. Stupid…) "Oh yeah! I just remembered I was gonna meet up with Autumn and Mila," I lie, just needing a way to get outta there. "I'll see you around, okay?" I tell Dana, waving and turning around before trotting away. (Crap, I totally blew it… Ugh, I'll just have to find a way to salvage that… Wait. That stand earlier! Heh, I guess I can finally return the fa- Huh?) I stop walking to notice a… Kadabra. On the ground. "Er…" I quickly make my way to them. "Hey, uh… need a hand?" I say, extending out my paw to help them up.

Steph gives a meek foxlike smile and gives out a paw, her claw sticking out awkwardly, "Thanks, name's Steph. Nice to meet you. I dunno I was a human a second ago and now I'm... a kadabra?" She squints at her foxlike body, "Yeah, a kadabra, wearing purple glasses."

My eyes widen. (A… Another human?) Well, that's probably the last thing I'm expecting right now. "Shh, keep your voice down!" I forgot what the stigma on ex-humans was, but I’m not taking any chances. "You're human, too? So am I, but I am pretty sure being a human is… ordinary around here, so don't just spout that kinda stuff out." And with that, I help her up. "Steph, right? My name's Niles. I'm, um… not the best at introducing new people, but there's a group of more people like us. I'll try to take you to them. Is that alright?" (Well, I guess finding Autumn and Mila wasn’t much of a lie after all…) And to think I was just trying to get a gift for Dana…

Steph wanted to use her telepathy voice, but since her mind is quicker than a supercomputer, it would probably end up like a Motor Mouth...

"Sure, I still have memories of being a human..." she says simply, although everything was overwhelming her, what with hearing everyone's thoughts at once. "Yes, please."

I weird sensation hits me, but I've felt it before. My mind's being read.

I try to stop thinking for a bit. What a bad time to come across a mind reader… "Just… Just follow me."
After some brief wandering, I find another familiar face. Autumn the Braixen. "Mom!"

Before she can get very far, Autumn runs into a familiar face. She looks around for a moment, wondering where Dana has gone, but only manages to spot a Kadabra hanging nearby in the crowd. Thinking little of it for the moment, Autumn turns back to face Nyquil and responds.

"What is it? Is everything alright?"

The Espeon working the vat doesn't respond initially, and after a second or so she seems to freeze still before quickly turning around with a worried expression on her face that melts as soon as she spots the Krokorok.

"Oh, my apologies. I usually try to keep psychic conversations with my customers, helps me focus on the food, but... anyways. What'll you be having?"

On the front counter of the stand, held on rather flimsy plates only barely keeping the food off the planks, there are a few candied pechas, sitrus, oran, cesto, and rawst. Back where the Espeon is still working there seems to be a larger variety and stock, though the order would likely take longer to complete.

"I wanna Leppa!"

Steph follows Niles obediently. "Uuuhh, so I'm new here. Mind showing me around?"

"Steph, this is Autumn. She's not a human, like us, but she's already used to our group anyway." I approach Autumn and talk softly. "Mom, this is Steph. She's a human, too. Do you think you can take her to the others? I kinda have something I wanna do…"
