Do you fellow danchous know where Princess Long Ji originated? Is she from Rage of Bahamut or a new Granblue OG character?

Yeah I usually picture Lancey as the husband, Vane the wife, Percy the pastor, and Siegfried the hyper competent uncle who's also the bouncer at the wedding.

I think Vane is more of a bumbling, good-natured husband while Lancey is more of a serious, responsible wife.

Cleared all three boxes, now I'll I need to do is pick up a few more badges for the 4th copy of that really metal-looking axe and I'm done.

So next on the pipeline is something called "Rise of the Beast", which was likely named during some Iron Maiden fad in Cygames' office, what's it about and how do my newb arse can best take advantage of it?

Rise of the Beasts is a series of four (or five) rotating bosses in the main four elements. The main draw here is that you can get gold bars from this event, which are needed for high-level weapon forging. What you'll probably want to do is just have a look at the daily mission and do it every day, since that's how you get gold nuggets.

It's been fun.

Rot B also have ex+ raids which, aside dropping a lot of pendants, have (a gold bar chance) of dropping a silver moon weapon. Which is why everyone, or at least pre-prom grid, runs the crap out of Agni for a "never knew it existed until you get it for yourself" crimson finger. Freaking Asura drop.

That being said, don't run them just so you get said drops cause you'll won't see them unless you're insanely lucky or botting. Run the exs when their time slot gives extra pendants and the ex+ shows up. You said you're new so just pub them and do the best you can.

Or be like types like me who got lucky with Blue Spheres and stuck in the KMR Asylum for too long and just Bonito the crap out of Rot B and stop thinking.

It's also worth picking up the event's exclusive weapons because they're super easy to uncap (they come with three stars already uncapped, and the fourth star just requires 20 weapon stones, 50 elemental whorls, and 1 beast seal) and provide a good boost to offense.

I updated my computer and wow did it make the Andapp version's font fugly

I hope I can get the prestige pendant cap done this weekend and finally get that Alexiel katana done next week.

So uh, is anyone discussing the Season 2 of the anime? Or is there a separate thread for this?

Just went ahead updating the Anime tab so CMIIW on some of the edits. I'm not sure if the English-speaking fans are busy grinding Magnafest, cause the Reddit and online forum discussions of the first episode seem kinda low? One of the common comments that I've come across is that people are surprised that the very first episode is a Cameo Filler and not focusing on the actual main story arc and significant plot progression. Well, the next stop is Albion Citadel, which I hope could bring more online discussions and exposure to GBF's S2, some fans don't seem to like fillers.

Heck, I'm not even sure if I have the time or motivation to watch or even all of the 3 "Gacha War" anime this Fall of 2019, since I played Granblue Fantasy, Fate Grand Order and Azur Lane (I haven't watched the first eps of the latter two yet). I guess they were right after all, these anime adaptations are advertisments and mainly made for the fans of the gacha games, since I saw some anime-only commenters of all the first ep discussions in the GBF, FGO, AL anime threads who are confused and don't know what the fuck is going on, or who the fuck are the characters. TBH, the only anime I'm anticipating this season is "No Guns Life". I don't know if I'm growing older but my enjoyment for watching anime lessens every season.

Anyway, might have went off-topic there, but here are my opinions on the anime in general and in Episode 1.

  • I gotta admit, I'm one of those who are surprised that Episode 1 is a Cameo Filler episode featuring Aliza. I'm not saying that it is bad, but I kinda expected at least any recap/throwback/story-retelling of some sorts to refresh the minds of the past viewers or drop some info for the anime-only newcomers. Boy, anyone who haven't watched the first season may sure get confused.
  • It would still take some time for me to get used to the new artstyle and animation done by MAPPA since the first season of 2017 is the reason why I got interested in GBF, I hope Cygames doesn't cut some of the *cough* gacha money *cough* budget for the future eps, and I also trust that they have a healthy relationship with MAPPA. I mean, how many Cygames-MAPPA anime titles were there? Even Yuri on Ice and Zombie Land Saga are popular in the west for reasons.
  • I like the movement and animation thus far, it feels fluid for the most part... No constant "freeze" shots, abundance of still image frames and exaggerated slow-mo tricks just to emphasize the action. Damn, at one point, Lyria's hair freely flows in the wind... I can say the budget for this episode went to Lyria's hair.
  • What I don't like on the other hand is the way they transition or focus on stuff. Like sure, Do they really have to repeat that animation of focusing on the dark essence everytime it sparks? And the protags just mentioned "dark essence" when Tezcat is trapped, does Gran really have to say "dark essence" again when he saw it on Tezcat's nape? I went like "Duh, Gran, it was obviously the reason why the primal beasts went berserk, you don't have to emphasize that again."

Overall, the animation of the action scenes are consistently good for me, it's just on the times when there is no action does the animation become a hit-or-miss IMO. Also, CMIIW, but there is no 3D CG Primal Beast this time around? I think there is a bit of a 3D CG animation, and that's only when the Grandcypher evaded some magical barrage. I can't even tell if Colossus is CG here, since he was obviously one in the first season. Might have to rewatch or double-check since the Black Knight's armor was also 3D CG on the first season, IIRC.

Rage of Bahamut: Genesis was Mappa

tbh I've just been really busy so I'm going to prioritize FGO's anime right now

As a new player entering Rot B your main priority should be getting the 4 weapons with Omega modifier weapon skills. Getting a gold bar or two isn't a bad idea either. First gold bar costs 10 nuggets, next is 15, and then 20 for all subsequent ones.

More info on what new players should get is on the wiki

Did some quick rewatch of the first ep to clarify some things and...

  • Yeah, some scenes really do seem to have cut animation, the fire effect seem to be quite weird as well.
  • The Black Knight is in 3D CG... same as the first season. Probably explains why she has limited animation ever since. It would worry me on what would happen if BK does get to fight.
  • There is a bit of exposition in the dialogue lines that do recap the first season. But since these are in the dialogues, they can be easy to miss for a non-GBF fan. In fact, the very first scene with child Gran explains his quest already early on...
  • Looking back, being a Filler might not actually be a bad thing, since I just remembered that the first season ended in an episode of cameos. They've deviated from the game's plot 2 years ago, they might have planned to fix it by doing this.
  • Most of the scenes in the early PVs are taken from the first episode.

Gonna watch the first eps of the Azur Lane and Fate Grand Order animes to compare... But from what I've read in the discussions, GBF seems to have the weakest first episode impression among the 2019 war of gacha anime, especially for non-players. I wonder if the budget is being saved for something better. This is different than most animes where the first episode gets the most budget and quality. I worry that GBF S2 would end up being a low-budget spin-off / cash-cow from Blu Ray codes, since we know FKHR and maybe other GBF staff are also busy with Versus and Relink.

Well, but if that's the case, I would hope that Cygames better stop relying on old fans and bonus codes to make the game sell, they need to learn how build up strong hype and first impressions to draw in more fans. I've noticed this worrying issue since Percival's extremely short GBVS trailer... They kinda missed an opportunity to attract a lot of newcomers from EVO 2019 and in the Tokyo Game Show.

I haven't played much of the 3 gacha games in these past months since I've just returned to PC gaming... Maybe the desire to play gacha games is slowly dying out on me, so watching the 3 gacha animes of this season may only serve as a nostalgia factor, since I know I won't possibly be able to complete any of them.

To be fair, the plot doesn't really pick up until later with Akasha, the Erste Empire, and the whole deal with Lyria and Vyrn.

You get a SSR Omega Weapon for free, two in fact.

I've read the Basic Grid article in the wiki back-and-forth a thousand times and never saw a whiff of free SSR summons.

Speaking of free stuff, how long does it take in general for a event to be added to the Side Stories? Because I just found out about the collab with Persona 5 and I'm left sallivating.

Crossovers are apparently up entirely to the other side on whether they want to license what is basically a permanent crossover in Side Stories, so it's really hard to say.

Not to mention collabs don't usually show up more than once. Exception being Idolmaster but we haven't seen that in a couple years.

Otherwise, I want my damn Street Fighter collab back!
