Glad to see the show already getting another season.
Mileena MadnessIf this series becomes popular, I wonder if they will do another Castlevania game.
Finished the 2nd episode a while ago.
It's grisly.
The acting, action and animation are great, but it's really grisly.
And yes, Castlevania is indeed getting a second season.
Watched the first ep.
Due to issue with Netflix, I had to use another site, so I only did the Japanese dub.
Gotta say, I was kinda cheering for the D man when he destroyed that village. Too bad he doesn't spare children. They are at least innocent of any real wrong doing.
Along with all the people who weren't even there, but are gonna die anyway since he's going after everyone everywhere.
But hey, them's the breaks.
One Strip! One Strip!I know this isn't anime but I love Dracula's Japanese voice actor.
Mileena MadnessOne thing I'm really hoping for next season is more monster hunting & variety.
All in all, a great first season. Very awesome fights & some hilarious moments actually.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Looking at the Japanese cast, it looks like it does that weird thing were certain actors return, but don't reprise their roles. Namely Ryotaro Okiayu voicing Trevor instead of Alucard like he usually does.
Got through the whole thing. Overall, I really enjoyed it, and I actually think it did a fantastic job adapting and reimagining alot of beats and details from the games. I think my favourite was how monsters destroyed by the Vampire Killer explode into flames, just like how enemies died in most of the side scrolling games. I did think some of the swearing was pointless, and they could have used maybe a few less quips, but they're minor nitpicks for what was a very enjoyable show.
For Season 2, the two characters I really want to see appear are Grant, of course, and Death, who didn't appear to my surprise. He's one of the biggest villains in the series, so i'd love to see how the show handles him.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Does the Japanese dub of this series still have Norio Wakamoto as the voice of Dracula?
There 's a Japanese dub? Also I didn't mind the cursing that much but maybe replace it with period appropriate swearing I guess? I might be wrong. I also hope dracula's relationship with his wife was explored more.
MIANope, Drac's voiced by Naoya Uchida in this, everyone else has new VA's too, which is fair since the english cast has all new VA's for the characters too.
Pretty good series, off to a strong start although it feels like it stopped right a the main story began to kick off. Feels more like a an intro movie broken into four parts. Not sure how to feel about the Speakers. Was an unnecessary change to Sypha's backstory, and the show was dragged a bit whenever Ellis went on one of his Author Tracts about the evils of the church. But just about everything else that came out of Trevor's mouth was gold.
Can second ewolf2015 on Trevor being pretty cute though. Sypha too.
Really...?
I dunno. This cartoon (anime?) has a horrible Pacing Problems, with all that Infodump and many Captain Obvious moment (why Trevor must Thinking Out Loud so much?) and occasionally less-than-stellar animation
I'm not a fan of fanchise, so maybe it's all part of its charm, but... I'm not exactly impressed.
This was okay. Good fights and a few interesting bits weighed down by being really goddamn slow. Seriously, most every scene was at least half again as long as it needed to be
That aside, what really stuck out to me was how explicitly christian it was (rather nontraditional, but still christian). Rather than the usual monster mash, Dracula's forces are mostly demons from hell, and God apparently exists and has opinions. Quite the departure from the games using christianity as the odd bit of window dressing
God existed in the games too. In fact, it was explicitly stated several times (mostly in the Sorrow games) that Dracula, or rather the Chaos that empowers him is the entity opposite to God. I believe the Lords of Shadow timeline also confirms the existence of God.
Yeah but there wasn't a long explanation for why the Reformation happened.
You bet after this vampire nonsense is over Martin Luther has some things to nail to a door.
A lot better than I thought it would be.
Kind of funny seeing all the people in this thread watch the Japanese dub to a very American cartoon, source material being Japanese or otherwise, but to each their own. The English version's fantastic, and since it's only four episodes I'd recommend it considering it's the original in this case.
I plan on watching the english version too. My Netflix problem is settled, so I'll check that one out first.
One Strip! One Strip!Richard Armitage does a pretty good job as Trevor.
I had no plans on watching it in Japanese, only watched it in English.
Though oddly enough when I was turning on the subtitles I didn't see the Japanese voice option for some reason.
Indeed. He his fantastic.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Is Trevor named Ralph in the Japanese version like he is in the games?
The Protomen enhanced my life.Because it's not an anime :P Lol @ english speaking people watching it in Japanese. Sub snobs are silly.
Man this was great. Trevor and Drac honestly outdo many of their game incarnations here, they were so badass. Drac felt OP in how he was delivering meteor showers and putting the entire city in hellfire. And everytime Trev busted out vampire killer you knew something awesome was going to happen. And that last fight was epic. Especially when alucard disarmed Trev, trev busts out the sword and Alucard puts one hand behind his back and just starts schooling him. Superior swordsman confirmed.
Only 4 episodes is such a tease. Must. Have. More. The night is still young...
I thought the gore was excellent. It was brutal, visceral, and most importantly detailed, something a lot of anime gore these days fail at. Here you saw intestines and organs fly out when someone got severed in half, not just a bunch of blood.

I'll have to take your word for it. Been trying to re-watch the first ep on Netflix, but it keeps cutting out on me and kicking back to the many menu of my Apple TV. I do not know what is going on here.
It's almost completely killed my mood for watching the whole thing. I can't even finish episode 1.
One Strip! One Strip! The fight scenes had great choreography, but still felt a bit stiff at times due to the focus on being on-model over actual number of frames or tweening. Noticed a lot of smear-type shots when pausing. Voltron: Legendary Defender was similar which makes me wonder if this is a part of the design philosophy behind Western action cartoons in general.
Just type the letters "Castl" in Netflix's search engine, and it, as well as anything else with the word "Castle" in its title should show up.
