Main Thread | Discussion Thread

Legends. Stories scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts of an obliterated past.

Humans and Faunus, born from dust, were strong, wise, and resourceful—but they were also born into a heartless, inclement world. An inevitable calamity—creatures of destruction—the creatures of Grimm—set its sights on humanity... and all creations thereof.

These forces clashed, and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void.

But even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change, and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power appropriately came to be known as "Dust."

Nature's wrath in hand, humanity lit its way through the darkness, and in the shadow's absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life.

But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die.

And once those beacons vanish... the inexorable darkness will return.

In many ways, it already has.

See, this is the kind of RWBY RP I wanted to use that one character for. I mean, I forgot most of the information about the character, but who cares? BOOOOOOOONESAAAAAAW IS REEEEEADY!

  • Name: Lawson Njaginote
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 17
  • Species: Human
  • Weapon: Roosevelt. In its default state, the Roosevelt resembles a baseball bat-length magician's cane with a zebra print paintjob. However, with a double tap and flick, the Roosevelt transforms into a high-caliber double-barreled rifle, complete with iron sights.
  • Semblance: Cavalry's Here. Lawson summons four dopplegangers of himself. They form a human shield around Lawson to the best of their ability, and they share his physical combat capabilities, but they can't take more than three hits without vanishing in a puff of smoke.
  • Appearance: Lawson stands 6'1" and has a muscular build. He has dark skin, brown eyes, and dreadlocks so long that he usually wears them tied back (reference picture). His hair is naturally black, and he leaves the roots alone, but the rest is dyed blond. Lawson's fashion sense trends distinctly formal, but never preppy; he wouldn't be caught dead in boat shoes or a pair of chinos. While his outfits pretty much all start from the template of "brand-new-looking monochromatic suit," he changes things up a little every day, whether for practicality or just for show, using everything from different kinds of ties to rings to top hats to monocles. The result is a sometimes eccentric, but always classy sense of style—and, to the surprise of those who don't take him seriously, precisely tailored for the possibility of a fight breaking out.
  • Personality: Lawson has lived his entire life in a bubble of economic privilege, and it shows in his behavior. He can barely understand the daily life of a well-off person who doesn't own a machine that arranges and hands over their outfit for the day every morning, let alone a Faunus. As a result, though he means well, he sometimes comes off as totally disconnected from the realities of everyday life for anyone without an upbringing like his own as a result. He fancies himself a proper gentleman in the making and tries to live up to the part as much as possible, which translates to a strong sense of honor in combat and a refusal to fight dirty, no matter how much easier that would make things.
  • History: The fourth of five children, Lawson Njagi was born into the lap of luxury. His parents were the founders of Tiger Enterprises, one of the few Dust-producing companies capable of competing with Schnee Dust Company in terms of resources and profits. While his older siblings all learned the Dust business in preparation for inheriting Tiger Enterprises and his younger brother partied it up every night, Lawson lost himself in various leisurely pursuits, especially in reading about the daring deeds of Huntsmen and Huntresses past. Although his parents didn't fully understand his obsession, they were willing and able to provide the resources necessary to pursue it, and his talent turned out to be enough to get him to Beacon Academy.
    • Lawson is currently in his first year at Beacon, where he makes the first "L" in Team BULL. He joins Beatrice Divino, a katana/shotgun-wielding Lady of War with control over snow who rarely loses her cool (and whom Lawson has a minor crush on), Uriel Cham, a hothead with a fittingly fire-focused Semblance and a pair of axe-revolver hybrids in hand, and Leo Lestrange, who excels just as much at confusing Grimms with his teleportation and nunchuck-machine pistols on the battlefield as he does at confusing everyone he meets with his bizarre tangents off it. He greatly enjoys hearing Peter Port tell stories of his past feats, and is therefore always the one paying the most attention in Grimm Studies class.
      • NOTE: Team information is temporary until other players/teams form. Please feel free to include Lawson in your character's team if you wish, and once it's settled who he's running with, I will adjust this character sheet accordingly.
  • Theme: "Finished Symphony" // Hybrid

So, is this an AU? In line with current RWBY cannon but pre fall of Beacon? Or Post fall of Beacon? I'm fine with pretty much any of the above or anything else. Just curious because the first post isn't really illuminating on what the RP is going to be about besides taking place in Vale. I mean it does kind of sound like post fall of Beacon, but if that was the case it wasn't explicit enough.

Also, I'm certainly interested, but it might take me a bit to get up a character profile. If I ever do. I haven't had a great track record with making new characters recently, and I don't have any pre-existing RWBY OC's to recycle.

Um, well, I don't have anything but time on my hands because of summer holidays for the next 5 or so weeks...so I'll throw out a sheet here if that's okay. Just l-let me know if it needs changes I suppose.

  • Name: Croire Albus.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Age: 17.
  • Species: Human.
  • Weapon: Midi étoile & Misericorde. (Mid-day Star & Mercy.) The former is an unassuming umbrella, yet on closer inspection, the handle is more of a hand-guard seen on a fencing foil and very slightly obscured buttons on the hilt, making the weapon contract into a lance or rapier while doubling as a metallic barrier if need be. The latter is an unassuming knife that tends to be the catalyst of his semblance. ...Apparently he had one more weapon, something he built from scratch himself...but that's uncertain.

  • Semblance: Arme de lumière! (Blade of Light) => Résoudre! (Resolve.) (Blade of the Soul) Croire's semblance is a bit...simple but at the same time, there's more to it. Despite several months of his first year of trying to get the hang of his semblance, the only ability he can use (mostly) at will is making blades out of his Aura to make Misericorde less of a dagger and more like a longsword.

    • In reality, it tends to only reach it's full strength in the most dire of circumstances with him being badly injured meaning while his durability and strength goes through the roof compared to his usual self...this oversurge of Aura will prove harmful or worse if he's in this state for too long. On the plus side, it does have it's advantages of being able to create countless blades in this state and able to direct them as if they were extra limbs...although again, that's really if the situation is truly critical.

  • Appearance: For reference, there's this. For an actual more detailed description, Croire's skin is slightly on the pale side with dark blue hair he tries to keep tidy and faint amber colored eyes, hidden beneath a pair of simple glasses that he does his best to make sure stay in place. Standing at 5'5, a rather slender figure and dressed in rather fancy clothes like pictured...it's really just copies of the same outfit.

  • Personality: Polite, friendly and intelligent, Croire does his best to make himself useful to his allies. Although that external appearance hides a young man that's quite shy, easily flustered and considers himself a burden despite his abilities on and off the battlefield. ...Being a typical faunus-hating bigot or obnoxious upper-class twit will usually draw out his ire and he...seems to be quite uneasy if he's near a mirror. When it comes to fighting, he manages to keep a level-head and focus on the much bigger picture. He's also a bit of a sweet-tooth who enjoys cooking and tinkering with any machinery he can get his hands on.

  • History: Well, until more people show up, probably best not to jump to team-mates/names until more sign-ups are made. Now back to the scheduled backstory. Croire is somewhat of an enigma. Simply arriving at Beacon one day and enrolling with little fanfare among the other promising students, the fact he took a startling amount of initiative and bring those following in his wake back in practically record time got some attention and people looking into him in more detail. ...Suffice to say, the information on his enrollment forms was either difficult to make out, full of contradictions yet making some sort of sense and trying to find out any further details, even the Kingdom he was born in simply led to more questions without answers, save that he'd never attended Beacon until this point and confirmation he wasn't associated with any of Beacon's current enemies.

  • Theme: Shibuya - Jungle Navigation. ...There was another piece of music, b-but that would be more of a battle theme/leitmotif so I'm not going to link that for now.

Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.

Accepted. So, from what I can gather, he usually uses his Semblance to extend Misericorde's reach, but uses it to generate hundreds of blades when he gets beaten up or injured, with the downside of running out of Aura (or losing consciousness if he overuses it). Sounds like you want him to be a leader (assuming you can find a team with that spot open).

By the way: you meant "his durability and strength go through the roof" and "its" when you described his Semblance ("go" because there were 2 nouns, and "its" instead of "it's" because it's the possessive form of a pronoun, like "my," "your," "her," and "his").

That's pretty much it. Making the blades is really just something he can use as consolation because of how situational it is to trigger. He doesn't really go out of his way to get injured since even if it is more than worth the risk considering how much of a boost it'll give...if it doesn't kick in, he's fighting at even more of a handicap

And well, not really. I'm not really going to jump to any conclusions until more people show up. And, um, sorry about that. >.<

Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.

So, here's my signup. There will be villains and an objective (in case anyone was wondering). And you don't have to worry about making the template bold; I'm just doing it to make it easier for everyone else to read it.

  • Name: Abel Haemon
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 18
  • Species: Human
  • Weapon: Sunder Heart
    • A unique katana/harpē (a harpē-esque katana, rather) that can change shape between a sword, a scythe, and a bayonet. The inside of the blade contains a secondary blade that shoots out and bends backwards in its scythe form, and appears in its bayonet form as a knife under the barrel. The hilt/chamber stores a single cartridge of Dust that provides enough munitions to last a minute, regardless of what form it's in. The bayonet is fully automatic, has a scope that flips up above the chamber, and fires a continuous spray (although Abel's reaction time is fast enough that he can fire the bullets in controlled bursts, or—assuming he isn't fatigued or distracted—individually).
  • Semblance: Wrath Drain
    • Abel's Semblance is unusual, to say the least: the ability to "steal" whatever energy someone—or something—applies against him. It's proven itself effective in fights against Grimm and people alike, and has multiple uses. He mainly uses this ability to redirect the force an opponent (or an object an opponent wields) would use against him backwards—or in some other direction. He can also store the energy anyone or anything'd apply against him for about a minute, and use it to reinforce his attacks. However, he can't use it on something he isn't aware of, and it doesn't work as well on anything that'd injure him without any intent behind it (but he can use his Aura to overpower traps that he knows were set for him and his allies). The main downside is that it proves difficult to use on things other than Grimm that lack Aura. He can handle up to 10 megajoules before his Aura gets depleted. For the sake of example, if someone rolled a boulder off of a cliff and it was about to crush someone else on his team with 5 megajoules of force (think of a 1000-kg boulder traveling at 100 meters per second), he could intercept it and throw it aside, but he wouldn't be able to battle on behalf of his team. He could throw it back into the air, but he'd lose all of his reserves in the process. If it was a 2000-kg boulder with a speed of 100 meters per second, he'd be able to effectively stop it in its tracks, but he'd lose all of his Aura, he'd lose consciousness, and it'd take enough people to lift it just to make sure that he'd make it out alive. It takes about half a day for his reserves to replenish.
  • Appearance: Abel stands at 5'10" and weighs 154 lbs., with jet black hair, well-toned, pallid flesh, and crimson eyes. His face and body are covered in scars, although the scars on his face fade (and there are rare moments during which he manages to keep his face unscathed). He looks quite athletic, although he's never been good at running (he is good at long-distance travel, though). He also has twisted back muscles, with a roughly 18° spinal curvature. He usually wears a plain black t-shirt, alongside khakis and gray running shoes. He isn't fond of dressing colorfully, since it just makes it easier for his adversaries to notice him.
  • Personality: He believes no one should have to suffer, whether they deserve it or not (although he himself should be willing to suffer). As a child, he hated everyone that deliberately made his life painful or difficult—but quickly found himself guilty of the same faults for which he judged others—often out of a desire for social approval, and—more importantly—vengeance. It was as a tween that he drew that conclusion—that the only person he had the right to get upset at was himself. Despite all that, he often lacks self-restraint—a side effect of his father having punished him before he was even self-aware, with no explanation as to what he did wrong and no hope of making amends, let alone evading punishment. As another result, his cowardice never outweighed his anger, and he developed the fatalistic outlook that things never change for the better—nor should they. Whenever he gets confronted about it, he's ashamed to admit that he blames others for their crimes while hypocritically reveling in others' dismay.
  • History: Abel was born and raised in the suburbs of Vale. As a child, he was often abused by his father—although his twisted back muscles are courtesy of his older brother having literally kicked him out of his bed at the tender age of 1. His parents divorced each other after a marital spat. He was glad to stay out of their way by attending Beacon. In spite of the hardship everyone caused him, he always wanted what was best for them (after getting over the fact that some people—like his father—always hated him, and there was nothing he could do to change it). He was a 2nd-year when Beacon got attacked, and was extremely enthused to fend off the Grimm and the White Fang both.
  • Theme: The Time Has Come.

  • Name: Tan Mero (surname first)
  • Gender: M
  • Age: 18
  • Species: Fennec Fox Faunus
  • Weapon: Tan wields Cannon 99. In its base form the weapon is very simple and divided into two segments; the first is a forearm-mounted pile-bunker painted a dark brown with a simple lever to prime it backwards maually, and the second is a bludgeon about four feet long painted a lighter beige color. When he flips a switch on the side of the bludgeon, however, it hollows out and increases in length into an six-foot 750 mm barrel, which then affixes to the end of the pile-bunker to be used as an enormous break-open grenade launcher, using the force of the pilebunker to launch the grenades.
  • Semblance: UNITY (capitalization integral by his own insistence) allows Tan to link his Aura to up to nine other people. Linked people share Aura resources; when one member of the network loses Aura, the rest of the group's Auras will siphon off to restore theirs and keep everyone's Aura levels mostly equal.
  • Appearance: Tan is big and buff, but built for lifting and not fighting. He's bulky and barrel-shaped, that sort of shape that Olympic lifters have with raw, inarticulate muscle mass. A pair of dusty fox ears come out of his curly brown hair, which is kept very short. He has brown eyes, dark skin, and a very round face with a small and inobtrusive chin. Tan wears a modernized version of the family's old military uniform—a desert brown jacket with prominent white lapels and epaulets, with matching trousers and dark brown boots. On formal occasions he accessorizes it further with a brown scarf and a little white cap, but most of the time he goes without.
  • Personality: Tan sees literally any action as something that takes place in the heart and mind as much as the physical world. If one wants to effect the world, he thinks that you need to make a hard statement about it as well. He thinks Huntsmen are the ultimate expression of this sentiment, and that they are the spearhead for a cohesive national identity. He has a lot of thoughts about The White Fang, and in the wake of the Fall he's still busy processing about them. This processing is preoccupying enough that he doesn't want other people to pollute his own head until he can figure it out, and he's become aggressive about making sure other people are as considerate as he is about them. He values his family's lineage and identity highly, and prefers to go by his last name to people he's not familiar with. He has a lot of very left-leaning ideas about government with the understanding that those policies would make the people of Vale stronger and more proud, but now's not exactly the time to talk politics.
  • History: Huntsmen were very formative for Tan. His great-grandfather apparently made a name for himself during the Great War that was so incredibly strong he changed the family name to a color, wanting to make sure it was fully cemented there. With a sort of generational bottleneck starting there, the family knows little of themselves before the war. They became a family of soldiers and warriors, and Tan was dropped right in the thick of it. He saw the political climate he'd be going to Beacon in, and was perturbed to say the least. He was going from a family that had a strong identity ready for him into a world where identities were being constantly shaken up—the iron grip of Schnee Dust, the anarchism of the White Fang, and the black cloud of the Grimm all threatened to subsume one's identity. When the Vytal Festival happened, he entered with the understanding that a mutual show of force from each of the kingdoms would help cement everyone's expressions in a time where that was clearly lacking, but the Fall sort of shook him and sent him into hardcore Processing Mode. He has no idea where his Team is at present, and at this point he's given up trying to find them for now.

  • Name: Haley 'Nutjob' Laffa

  • Gender: Female

  • Age: 18

  • Species: Spotted Hyena Faunus

  • Weapon:

    • Krusherklaive: A gigantic blade that could put the Buster Sword to shame, the Krusherklaive is a monster of a sword. With the blade so heavy it needs tiny holes for micro explosions to propel itself to attack with any reasonable speed, it's got sheer power. The explosions are sudden bursts of heat and flame made by revving the in-weapon engine and then pulling a trigger, shooting the blade in any direction, but prone to overswings if not timed right, the blade can also be used to drag Haley along with it. The Krusherklaive has limited power reserves, though they thankfully slowly recharge automatically. The Krusherklaive has 7 'Gears' of increasing power and energy drain. At Second Gear, the explosions are large enough to deal lesser damage to people near the swing arc. At Fourth Gear, the swings are augmented by fire. At Sixth Gear, Haley extends the range of her swinging slightly with air shockwaves, and can create a focused shockwave by smashing the blade into the ground. At Seventh Gear, only available with Haley's Overclock Semblance, electricity is added to the mix, while also lightening the load through high-powered thrusters that counter the effect of gravity. However, the sword is prone to overheating by increasing Gears too quickly. If it overheats, Haley is essentially defenceless as she cannot meaningfully move the sword and has to rev the blade until it starts again or use Overclock to jumpstart it and also ignore overheating.

    • Engine Block: The Krusherklaive's ranged form, and the one that it normally needs to be carried around in, is a flamethrower. Rather than spit a stream, it shoots a close-ranged conical blast of hot air and/or fire. It too is affected by Gears, though only two Gears change how it works. At Sixth Gear, it shoots a jet of fire similar in form to those from jet engines. At Seventh Gear AKA Afterburner, the flame is blindingly bright, and has a longer range.

    • Speed Demons: Simply her shoes that can transform into pair of rollerskates that can activate rocket engines for a burst of speed. Really only effective on flat surfaces.

  • Semblance: Overclock: Haley can increase the all-around performance of any piece of mechanical equipment she touches. Cars drive faster and handle better, guns shoot faster. Any mechanical system, such as an engine, gun's firing system, a a gear-powered device, etc is affected. It does not work on digital or electrical systems, so she can't make a TV or electrical device work better. Basically, if it has moving parts and is not organic or electrical, she can Overclock it, so long as it's active. For example, she can't Overclock a car if it has no engine or isn't started yet. When used with the Krusherklaive/Engine Block, she won't have to worry about overheating, though this does cause quite a drain at higher Gears.

  • Appearance: Rocking the Engine Block form. She has spotted hyena ears on top of her head, normally pushed under her cap so that they poke out.

  • Personality: Haley is off the wall crazy, and takes everything in her stride. This, along with her love of machines, earned her the nickname of 'Nutjob', which she's rather proud of. An individualist, rebel and non-serious to a fault, Haley is in the business for fun and excitement. She's a lover of cars and other mechanical systems, and will often drop everything to fawn over them. It's really hard to keep the Hyena Faunus down, and she's always ready to try and make others and herself laugh. She's also very reckless, rushing headlong into situations without a care in the world, though one cannot question her dedication to whatever it is she decides she wants to do. She's also a really friendly person, and really hard to make angry.

  • History: Born in the industrial district of Vale, Haley's parents worked in an automobile factory for most of her early years. After the factory closed down though, her parents opened up their own garage to sustain themselves and their daughter. This started her love of engines and cars, which influenced her design aesthetic that she uses as a Huntress-in-training. She would often help out in the garage, at first only handing tools to her parents, though she gradually grew to be responsible for more. By the age of 13, she knew more or less everything about the common car and other automobiles of every kind. However, Haley desired...excitement, more purpose, something UNIQUE to her so that she didn't simply follow in her parent's footsteps. Always a one for exciting, new things, Haley went to combat school in order to train to become a Huntress. A few years later, she slipped into Beacon along with other students with her respectable skills.

    • At the Vytal Festival, Haley was anticipating the excitement of fighting against other Huntsmen- and Huntresses-in-training from all across the Kingdoms and from every year of experience. However, during the attack, Haley showed one of the first few times to be somewhat serious and grim, though she would joke and smile as always. Now, she has no idea what the rest of her team are doing, doesn't much care so long as they're safe, and is looking forward to another exciting adventure. The first-year is as carefree as ever.

No, every odd Gear barring the First and Seventh is a general increase in the swinging power and power of lower Gear abilities, while every even Gear and the Seventh also have special techniques/abilities on top of power increase.

  • Weapon: The last Dance- A light blue and black lance, with one wedge shaped edge. Allowing it to form as a sort of sword. Near it's hilt, which has a sabre like hand gaurd is the trigger. Pressing it once allows the lance to slide off. Making it a bright blue, segmented sabre with a serrated edge. She wears her blindfold and ear muffs However, even with that, her sight is good enough to see through the microscopic holes in the leather and hear through the ear muffs. Without them, she is able to hear everything within ten miles and see a fly at four miles away in a straight field. Her sense of touch allows her to feel vibrations in the floor. Making her practically impossible to suprise.
  • Appearance: Azure is a short, petite young woman. She has long, flowing blue hair and icy blue eyes and likes to wear short black dresses-gothic lolita style. She wears black sleeveless gloves that cover her mid bicep and stockings that only cover her instep, but her most notable feature would be her head dress. A black blindfold that is attatched to a pair of black ear muffs. This allows her to keep outside stimuli to a bearable amount.

When she's relaxing, Azure likes to wear a bone colored helmet that covers her entire head save for her mouth. It's got two yellow port holes on it, and has the painting of an otter's face on the front. This allows her to either block off everything, or at least dampen it significantly.

  • Personality: Azure is a quiet girl. She tends not to talk that much, and when she does, it's terse-only a few words at a time and generally prefers silence to conversation since she's almost always dealing with the static of sensory overload. She enjoys dancing and cooking and while she is not a berserker, she'll never say no to a good scrap-a trait she got from her father.
  • History: Born to a deadbeat Dad who was busy hunting monsters, Azure lived with her mother. A former faunus of white fang. However, when Azure's aura was revealed, her mother was forced to withdraw her from public school and she spent much of her young life in the sensory deprivation helmet until she was twelve. Her father, having lost his leg in a mission retired and came back. Under his tutelage, she managed to gain some semblance of control over her...well, semblance. And, when she was 17, her parents sent her off to Beacon. A bit late into the school year, but still...

Good to be back

Accepted. I'm just going to assume she's still 17.

Sorry for not checking up on this; I didn't expect you to respond so soon.

  • Name: Dune Darkbright.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Age: 19.
  • Species: Human.
  • Weapon: Earl & Grey.
    • Two dual-mode machine pistol/throwing axes. In both modes, they are predominantly yellow with silver metallic parts and small turquoise highlights.
In throwing axe mode, they have grip protectors which flow seamlessly into the yellow handles; their blades resemble rifle clips, are mostly hollow, and are meant for stabbing more than slashing. The blades can fold against the handles when not in use.
In machine pistol mode, their sights are large, silver and ornate; they have long, concave trigger protectors. The bullets, as a rule, are armour-piercing, but can be modified with various sorts of Dust.
  • Semblance: Crows' eyes allows Dune to see through others' eyes. However, he cannot see through his own eyes while doing so; he can do simple things while blind (his hearing is pretty good), but combat is right out. He also needs to know where the other party is with some precision ("he's in so and so room of this building I see", "she's five hundred metres ahead, second story, three o'clock") in order to see through their eyes.
  • Appearance: Dune is slightly below average height for males of his age and lanky. His hair, like his eyes, is brown, and kept short; he sports a goatee that is mostly brown, but ginger at spots and blond in others. He tends toward practical clothes: dark cargo pants; sandy, simple shirts; and good hiking shoes. He has a shabby if well-mended brown longcoat that he insists on wearing all the time; he seems to be overly fond of it.
  • Personality: A bit aloof. Dune can be hard to approach, but once the initial ice is broken he's pretty cheerful. He has a hard time making friends, but sticks with those he does make — assuming him constantly talking about philosophy doesn't drive them away. He is is rather sarcastic, and doesn't miss an opportunity to make a snide comment. The only thing he likes more is tea, and he carries a box of tea and relevant implements everywhere.
  • History: Originally from Atlas, Dune's family immigrated to Vale when he was seven; he still speaks with an Atlesian accent. While he had no connection to Huntsmen when he was young, Dune was sent to Beacon because his father, a former military engineer, insisted that he'd get a "proper military education". Dune's mother, meanwhile, would hear none of it — she convinced Dune's father to leave Atlas in order to get away from the military, in the first place — at the end she relented, for she loved her husband greatly. At first, Dune didn't particularly like it at Beacon and kept to himself, but being assigned to a team with a hyperactive squirrel Faunus and a cheerful Huntress-in-training made him lighten up a little. It took him some time, but he formed a strong bond with his teammates.
Of course they were all killed in the Grimm attack.

Should I just assume that everyone else is already on the boat?

By the way: the main thread and the discussion thread are already up.

Sure, let me have a look.

  • Name: Aave Chrysanthema. She also goes by Wight.
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 19
  • Species: Human
  • Appearance: How she used to look prior to her accident. Vainamoinen - her previous weapon of choice - for scale. Take note of the shadowy protrusions, showing her Semblance at work... and how she looks now. She's a tall lady, standing at 6'6'' of cold elegance and ruthless glare that could cow a Deathstalker into submission.
  • Weapon: Vainamoinen-Kakkonen - The second take on her beloved Vainamoinen, a massive anti-materiel rifle scaled down to better fit her new approach to things. Despite the smaller caliber, it is still an anti-materiel rifle, specifically made to punch through machines and tanks rather than people or, in this case, Grimm. Aave finds the overkill just fine to her tastes. A long-ranged weapon first and foremost, it nevertheless can transform into a glaive for close combat, though she's sloppy in its usage due to not having trained with it too much.
    • For the record, Aave prefers hand-to-hand in close combat unless the enemy is too tough to injure that way; quick, practical strikes that trade style in favor of brutal efficiency. The mask she's wearing doubles as a particularily nasty surprise; a steel jaw that can open to take a chunk of something off at point-blank.
  • Semblance: Tarantula - Aave can grow up to four shadowy arms out of her back. Despite the ephemeral appearance, they are physical and can be used like an ordinary arm would be used though they are longer and stronger than her own; she most often uses them either for stabilizing Vainamoinen's recoil or in melee, but they can be used for just about anything such as climbing, dismantling something from a safer distance etc.. Striking those can sever them off Aave, but it causes her no discomfort beyond the usual Aura decrease and she can recall them as long as she has Aura to spare.
  • Personality: Already a gloomy and somber lady prior to her accident, the reawakening into this new, chaotic world did nothing to lift her spirits. She doesn't talk much and will usually only speak up if the matter is important enough. Quiet and subdued, you can tell her mood quite easily by the way her eyes shine; if they don't, something is about to get blown to pieces. The mere sight of Grimm or a White Fang symbol set her off into this frigid rage. The glimpses of her old-fashioned noblewoman uprising show in her polite speech patterns and casual disdain for Faunus, though considering the circumstances she is willing to give potential allies a benefit of the doubt. Has no real purpose in life at this point, just going forward and trying to find it.
  • History:
    • It's a really shitty time to be alive when the first thing you see after awakening from an eleven-month coma is seeing a less fortunate victim get dragged off her bed kicking and screaming by a towering Ursa.
    • Some time ago, Aave Chrysanthema was just an ordinary Huntress-in-training, attending her second year at Beacon. Coming from old Vale nobility, she has been groomed since birth to become the pride of an old, dying family of nobles that no longer had any real relevance in the great scheme of things. Aave, a person single-minded to a fault, saw fit to change that. An A+ person, she had forsaken personal happiness for the sense of success without much flinching. Finding gratification in keeping the name of her family strong and overcoming challenges Beacon threw at her, it didn't seem like anything could stop her. Though she was not a leader of her team, she was its strategist and saw fit that her teammates - all a bunch of bumbling fools that nevertheless could be molded into something useful - cover all the necessary tactics to capitalize on her strikes and lead said team to a victory over victory.
    • When the mission went wrong, she never admitted to her mistake. She had nothing to say to the families of her teammates who all got themselves killed beyond a stiff, cold condolences. She could not waste time; even when confined to the bed of Beacon Infirmary she wasted no time redoing her weapon to make up for the fact she would be going solo or with people less integrated with her than her previous team.
    • There were complications. Despite feeling quite well before, Aave ended up in a coma that crossed out any chances of going back into the thick of things; at least that was what the doctors said. At best it would be a lengthy recovery, but nobody gave her many chances to begin with. Thus ended the last hope of House Chrysanthema. At best, all they could do now was to go out in a blaze of glory.
    • Aave woke up at the day of the Fall, when the Grimm had already breached into Beacon. Confused and angry both, she had managed to cut her way out of the school grounds and beeline for her home. What was left of it, at least; it seemed that nobody of her little family survived the Fall of Beacon. House Chrysanthema has been remembered as the valiant defenders of Vale against the Grimm swarm and the Faunus rabble both... but what did it matter for Aave, for the first time in her life feeling despair? She was the sole Chrysanthema left, from birth groomed to bring the family back from the brink only to find nothing left to celebrate, nothing left to come back to.
    • The internal decay has come full circle. Dead inside, Aave Chrysanthema had remade herself and scavenged around Vale and Beacon for a few weeks before finding herself on a boat evacuating people out of this once safe haven. With nothing left for her to come back to, she stepped in without hesitation. Perhaps a purpose could be found in wherever this ship was headed...
