This page has been a problem for a long time. Thus, opening.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe page sounds like it doesn't realize that fiction never has to be realistic in the first place.
We don't need justice when we can forgive. We don't need tolerance when we can love.I think it's trying to exaggerate for the sake of humor.
I'm not sure it's as funny as it wants to be. :)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Ugh. I get what the index is trying to convey, but it feels sloppy and unnecessary. Of course fiction is not reality, that's why it's fiction. The other related tropes cover the actual trope implications. This is just rambling and repeating why the premise of tropes would not work in reality.
I'd normally say cut it, but this has 3000+ inbounds. I think this is the best option though.
What about making this a useful notes, removing a good chunk of unnecessary wicks from trope descriptions, and putting a note clarifying not to add wicks on trope/work pages? This page is bad, but at its core it's unnecessary. If we can't cut it outright, it shouldn't damage other tropes.
I think removing every reference telling the reader what to do and what not to do would be a good start.
Then it would just be a fairly random-looking collection of tropes with no obvious theme tying them together.
I think it might fit under Just for Fun.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Sounds like a good solution to me.
I agree as well. I actually forgot Just for Fun was an option.

I'm down with giving this the JustForFun/ namespace.
Clock is ticking.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI vote to turn this page into a Just for Fun page.
If that's the case, it'll need a rewrite to become an obvious parody.
Really? I didn't realize we had rules against subtlety....
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. This discussion is about to timeout soon. So far two options have been suggested:
- 1. Cutting the page (though the majority of the thread is against this)
- 2. Move the page to the Just for Fun namespace (though whether the description needs to be rewritten if this option is decided is up to discussion)
Should I go ahead and create a crowner?

Crowner sounds good.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Created the crowner. Hollering for a hook.
Crowner hooked.
Last call for votes. We're close to calling this one.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportOkay, calling in favor of moving to the Just for Fun namespace.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportPage has been moved, but wicks are not changed yet.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. It's been a while, so here's the list we will need to go through.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIs a wick check in order?
Not a wick check, but wick migration/cleanup. We already finalized action and we're yet to finish.

Crown Description:
Wasn't sure if I should put it under Misused, Complaining, Useful Note, etc.
So, the page is supposed to be a collection of tropes that are basically Do Not Try This at Home. However, the entire thing strikes me as more a how-to/lecture with a touch of panic and a complete lack of Willing Suspension of Disbelief, as well as loads and loads of descriptions, the usual "evil Hollywood wants you to believe!" stuff that's on some of the pages, and what appear to be tropes added because they're subjectively harmful to one troper instead of outright deadly, such as Big Eater, British Royal Guards, Destruction Equals Off-Switch, Too Smart for Strangers, etc.
The last note in the description says to keep bulletpoints to a minimum, and that's one rule that's not being followed. As before, a LOT of the bulletpoints are big, descriptive Viewers Are Morons lecturing.
I know the whole We Are Not Wikipedia thing is old hat, but either this goes into Useful Notes, or shouldn't be on a wiki for fiction at all.
