[up][up][up] It's a relatively new written rule that was added back in June after the unreleased works thread started noticing people added already commented out examples for unreleased works.

I've seen it done for episodes that have leaked but not aired yet.

[up]We're not supposed to be troping leaks, only stuff that's been officially released. If you see people troping stuff from leaks, especially if they're adding pre-commented-out entries, report them. They're breaking the rules.

I've seen people pre-comment entries for talk of game mechanics and other officially revealed info for games that haven't released yet. I remember having entries of mine deleted because we were not allowed to talk about things like character names being references to certain mythologies for the newest Fire Emblem game even though the entry itself wasn't speculative at all and every one of those names was available in English through official channels (thus no issue with the potential of translational name changes), so I figure they had the same problem.

The Broken Base entries related to Saban's English adaptation on YMMV.Glitter Force are full of natter, with a second-level bullet being added when it was first announced and third-level bullets being added to it later.

[up][up]What rule - not troping leaks? Probably because the whole subject is a tangled issue we're better off steering clear of when possible.

So, even after two cleanup threads deeming a Narm entry inappropriate, Klaudandus went and re-added the following entry in YMMV.Azur Lane in Broken Base instead:

  • The amount and type of fanservice can cause a lot of heated debates. Sometimes the fanservice gets awkward and distracting rather than arousing. Tennessee comes to mind, where she's trying to look tough but the effect is ruined by a prominent pantyshot. Some would even say that some loading screens are not just Narmy, but borderline scrappy, due to the amount of fanservice they showcase, with two of the biggest offenders being the Onsen loading screen featuring copious amount of nudity with the Censor Steam barely doing anything, and the 4th of July "Washington Crossing the Delaware" screen. As of Halloween 2019, one of the Halloween-themed loading screens, featuring succubi versions of most of the big-breasted characters, received a reception so bad that they actually removed it in a hotfix, stating that it "had brought inconvenience to commanders when the game was played in public".

The original entry for the Halloween 2019 fanservice debacle was in Broken Base, but guidelines for BB meant we would clobber the entry with extreme prejudice. Then a troper re-added part of the entry under Narm, leading me to address that long-standing Narm entry to the "Is this an example?" and "Removing complaining..." threads. After an agreement to cut it on both threads, I see Klaudandus has reinstated the entry under Broken Base in defiance to both discussions.

If this keeps on going and the various cleanup threads get ignored by those tropers, going to ATT seems to be next logical step.

Has anyone PM'd Klaudandus about the matter? Might be worth a try.

Sorry, I didnt know this was being discussed in clean-up threads.

But... from what I can tell, part of my entry does fall under broken base, right? The amount of Fanservice can be a cause of heated debates in the game chat channels and even the discord, and it has gotten to a point that one particular loading screen was removed because of the outcry.

[up]The example is a poor example of Broken Base as its a Wall of Text that complains and does not give a equal say on why like the fanservice and why they dont.

So, if it is reworked, it could go back to Broken Base?

[up]For starters, get rid of any mention of the Halloween 2019 debacle altogether, since you seem to be hell-bent on violating the 6-month rule with it.

I added this under broken base; hope this edit is good enough.

  • For a series Best Known for the Fanservice, the amount of fanservice on the loading screens the fandom can take can be very divisive. On one hand, you got the camp that are all in on the fanservice, others say instead that all the fanservice can cause problems if you try to play the game in public, with two of the biggest offenders being the Onsen loading screen featuring copious amount of nudity with the Censor Steam barely doing anything, and the 4th of July "Washington Crossing the Delaware" screen.

Also, the reason why I added the halloween 2019 example was because it was divisive enough that Yostar actually took action within a day and even released a statement on it.

If it's the matter of people liking fanservice because they find it appealing, it might be hard to elaborate too much beyond that other than what I just said.

I think there's fanservice and really over-the-top fanservice, which is what's causing the division.

Since fanservice will always be contested by default, i think its not worth mentioning on Broken Base entries.

Maybe focus on the arguments the pro- side has for it not being over-the-top so that it comes off more impartially. The fact that you're describing it that way (based on the property, I'd be inclined to agree with you) shows you're already taking a particular side, when YMMV pages are meant to focus on documenting widespread fandom opinions in an impartial fashion, no matter how strongly you feel about the subject.

Klaudandus, you shouldn't have re-added yet another Broken Base writeup before a consensus in favour for it was reached on this thread, considering all the edits related to the issue in the past few days. This has become a matter-of-fact Edit War.

I have no horse in this race, so I don't care how strongly you feel about the subject. A Broken Base entry should be written to represent both sides equally, and you failed to address that by overemphisizing on the negative, which veers back into complaining.

i commented it out — but the point still stands that things have gotten so contentious that yostar had to put out a statement regarding the fanservice on their loading screens

Isn't commenting out BB entry seen as a bad thing to do?

[up]I don't see why it would be inherently bad.
