Fair enough, though I would be surprised if ABC ordered Damage Control at this point. I mean, that series has been on the shelf for almost a year, and the only confirmed upcoming MARVEL show on the network is TheInhumans2017.
Anyway, what I was getting was DC remembering they're doing a DC "superhero-based" show on NBC (yikes), so maybe inserting a Batman connection will probably delay such a fate with an increased interest. Which is funny considering how restrictive DC is in the past with having more than one Big Three character and their supporting cast (and some Leaguers here and there) appearing or referenced in more than one show.

New Promo:
Some people have already compared this series to ABC's Better Off Ted, but with heroic intentions.

I loved Better Off Ted. Definitely worth checking out at least.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Another promo, featuring the Crimson Fox outrunning a criminal and a familiar Phrase Catcher:
Bruce Wayne has a cousin! No, it's not Katty Kane. It's Van Wayne:
Bruce never struck me as the type to indulge in nepotism.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! So what, Aunt Harriet had a son in this continuity?
I mean, he only owns the company because his parents owned it before him, and if his own position isn't a case of nepotism, that's only because his parents are DEEEEEAAAAD. Nepotism is pretty much inherent (and inherited) in cases like this— if you can afford to buy a company, you can put yourself in charge, qualifications be damned.
This isn't as funny as I'd have hoped based on the cast. Fingers crossed that that's just down to executives not knowing how to market it.

Van Wayne actually comes straight from a single issue during the Silver Age: Vanderveer Wayne, snotty rich cousin to Bruce Wayne.
Aunt Harriet was Dick Grayson's aunt, not Bruce's. In Pre-Crisis continuity, Bruce had an Uncle Philip who was supposed to have raised him (Pre-Crisis, if you remember, Batman and Robin were already established before Alfred entered the picture). Perhaps Van is his son or grandson.
Not crazy about the way they've changed the show around but will still give it a shot because of Tudyk and Hudgens.
Trump delenda estThe woman who handles insurance claims for superhero collateral damage.
Versus what we have now, the woman who works in the lab where they develop the toys for dealing with superhero collateral damage.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Possibly they wanted to avoid a "super heroes suck" environment?

I wonder if any future episodes will riff on how they changed things over.
Trump delenda estSo, series premiered today. I liked it. It's not OMG GREATEST THING EVARRRRRR but it was good. I hope it gets good ratings.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I think the only problem I had with it was that the aesop was a bit on the nose, but they lampshaded it, so eh.
Also, Freeze-Frame Bonus with the newspaper: Lex is president.
And he wants to Make Metropolis Super Again.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Ooh yes please! I wonder if Ice will join her, too?
Solid first start to the episode. it is pretty light and optimistic, but i think thats a good thing, given the general darker nature of superhero material lately.
I have to say the cast is a big part of why the show works as while none of them are huge names, they're all fairly well experienced comedic actors-Christina Kirk was one of my favorite parts of A to Z and I think she works very well on this show too.
I also enjoyed the little Marv Wolfman reference.
Alan Tyduk plays Van Wayne. Apparently Van Wayne does exist in the comics. He is an obscure character who showed up in a on shot in 1962.
Christina Kirk continues to be one of the best parts of this show. Her deadpan delivery is great, though I'd like to see her interact with more characters besides Emily and Van.
Also Vanessa Hudgens is playing plucky optimism to the hilt, and it works for the show-in a show that has superheroes but isn't superheroes its nice to see someone as upbeat and selfless as Silver Age Captain Marvel.
Her choosing to watch the anti-bullying video for an entire day and being reduced to a twitching mess was hilarious.
The original premise is Damage Control, which I believe is getting a series of its own. So yeah, a retool was necessary.
