I should probably add that, at the end of the day, it's all going to come down to personal tastes.
Someone's going to look at SSBU and say, with total unenthusiasm, "Oh, look it's a new Smash," but the chances of it not selling well are slim. Likewise, a lot of the Xbox exclusives can be summed up with "Another Halo/Gears/etc.," and while these might be "safe" and/or "boring" picks, I'd be surprised if they underperformed given the niche Microsoft's carved out for itself in the last two console generations.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadAll in all not a bad E-3. Some games I am definetly looking for and at least one is PS 4 exclusive.
A little disappointed that I haven't seen any of the new or in the works EDF titles at E3 but they haven't always showed up either.
Who watches the watchmen?nvm, wrong thread

This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.I really don't care about a company's performance at the show. As long as my fancy was tickled in some way, I am satisfied. Though I wish there were more things that looked interesting to me, I am happy with what I saw.
My favourite news was Vesperia for the Switch. Nothing revolutionary but I'm glad I'll finally get to play the updated version in English (and on the go).
@X2x: Even Microsoft's First Parties have underperformed in recent years.
Watch SymphogearX: Sony also had Resident Evil 2, which was very impressive, but multi-platform.
Come to think of it, did Sony actually show Tomb Raider? I don’t remember them doing that. It was definitely at Xbox’s show, and the Square debacle.
Question: with no release window, do we think that Halo: Infinite is a launch title for Xbox 4? At the very least it’ll be a cross-gen release, right?
@ Demongod: Which is no doubt why they went through the trouble of absorbing quite a few developers and announcing that fact to the public this year.
@ BadWolf: Yeah, it was definitely shown off at the Microsoft and Square Enix conferences, but I don't recall Shadow of the Tomb Raider being a feature of Sony's. We did get TLoU2, which was kinda Tomb Raider-esque at any rate.
As for your question, 343 had to build a new engine from the ground up (which was what the Infinite trailer was really showcasing), so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if we saw a situation similar to Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild where the game comes out right before/right as the new generation starts.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadI think the Xbox is far and away the weakest console this generation, due to its complete lack of (desirable) exclusives. And this E3 has not changed my mind. But their conference had the most games I got most hyped up about this year, including dropping some really big trailers. That's the metric I use to say Microsoft "won" E3. Their presser, when compared to the others without the context of the current situation of the 'console war', was better than the rest. IMHO.
The real winners are us, the fans. This was a great E3.
Unless you're a Command And Conquer fan I guess, in which case, how did you manage to reach a keyboard from under that mountain of shit that EA dumped on you?
(Or a Bioware fan tbh, because seeing them rush out a half-baked Destiny game is so heartbreaking.)
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."I think the one thing you can’t call Anthem is “rushed.” We’ve been getting told about this game for years at this point.
“Boring,” sure.
I still can't believe that even with a 20 minute presentation we still barely know shit about the game.
You can easily switch the premiere trailer & the recent trailer & nothing would change cause they tell exactly the same amount of information.
Very little.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."If you're going by most exclusives, the PC Gaming Show probably won. It was surprisingly good this year. A game, a short interview with the devs, rinse and repeat.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Yeah, but no one watches it.
You will next year, if the number of "wait, WHAT" posts from people who weren't watching is any indication.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.I actually won't. I don't game on PC, I'd have to go out of my way to watch it (IGN doesn't stream that one), and there's already a few shows I don't bother to watch if circumstances cause me to miss them. I have little interest in it.
Phew. Okay. So I initally just watched Nintendo's e3 segment live, except the tournaments.
Then I just saw the rest of the hype and got curious, so I've skimmed through this thread a lot. Man, if I hadn't, I'd not even know of Ghost of Tsushima, Tunic, etc. that seem to have mostly gone under the radar as KH 3, Smash Ultimate, Sekiro and bunch of others being so much more hyped.
I believe I'm all caught up now; read through here about EA and their embarassing conference (their best part being Maximillian Dood cracking up at Gay FIFA), Sony opens up with Tetris of all things, Bethesda did a thing and I had already heard all about it, Microsoft revelaed some interesting things thanks to them being multiplat and also Terry Crews In Old Spice; The Game, more Sony and them reminding me that Moss (the mouse game) exists among with new Spiderman that looks pretty rad and oh my god Shadow of Tsushima has caught my interest despite Fromsoft already showingt us Sekiro and then Nioh 2 also happened and jesus is 2019 just going to be my Weeb Souls year or what (even though So T isn't a Souls game but shut it)
I'm tired of skimming this thread, so if I missed anything, do tell me.

Were there any trailers/announcements that weren't in the main presentations that grabbed anyone's interest?

Couple things from the PC show that everyone skipped on. Satisfactory and the Don't Starve DLC were the most interesting to me.
Satisfactory is giving me 3D Factorio vibes, I wonder it if it's multiplayer or if there are multiple worlds
RUMOR: Sony to not hold an E3 event in 2019.
It's based off a Reddit post that has since been deleted, and Variety had an article itself, but it's been removed.
If this is true, than I'm not sure what it means.
EDIT: And here's Variety's article.
It looks like Sony isn't even in the announcement of next year's E3.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Sony, are you okay?
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*I'm guessing they're in the process of copying Nintendo.
This song needs more love. Not even anything at the floor for people to demo? Odd if there isn't a replacement conference.
Actually doesn't Microsoft technically not host their conference and floor at E3? Which would make Nintendo the last holdout of the big 3.
It's highly likely they are preparing for PS 5 launch in 2020, and have little to absolutely nothing to show in 2019.
EDIT:Microsoft still had a (small) booth at E3 2018.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."This... is probably a bad move for Sony, isn't it?
Not showing up at E3 for a year is one thing, but on the advent of a new hardware generation they've basically given Microsoft a seven month heads-up to round up as much AAA star power as possible to smash it out of the park, if not actually unveil the Xbox Two/whatever-it-is and get a gigantic head start on marketing.

I can think of State Of Decay and Quantum Break. Short list, but yeah, Sony definitely beats Microsoft out of the water when it comes to good exclusive games, I don't regret my purchase at all and will probably be getting the PS 5 when it comes out.
