Bump.

Ok, really, has anyone decided to bite the bullet and try the game with the aforementioned new PS 4 patch? Like at all?

Or are you guys still busy wishing the Pox on the developers and their families?

Let's see: Price markdowns (which is normal tbh), an TMNT DLC, a patch that mildly improves the graphics, repetitive content, an acceptable soundtrack, and the fact that I don't own an PS 4/confusingly-named XBOX 1.

Why would I buy an new console to play this game? But nice necro, though.

Chances are that this thread has an few days at most to live. Let's make the end memorable!

Does Tony Hawk have cancer?

The cancer part is just an pun about the last thread about this game...Which started with an You Tube pointing out what's wrong with it. Needless to say, the gods smote it from our memories.

[up]Look, I'm not trying to hate on the developers and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they're a talent group for folks hamstrung by Executive Meddling, but frankly even if you were to theoretically remove every bug and technical issue what you'd be left with is a fairly mediocre Tony Hawk game, which I guess would be better than nothing I guess.

THPS 5's problem is that the level design and name of the game implies one thing (a revival of the style seen in Tony Hawk 1-3 with quick 2 minute rounds and speedrun oriented gameplay) but the actual game itself is another thing altogether (a weird mishmash of Tony Hawk 4 - THUG 2's style with Destiny/Dragonball XV/Need for Speed Rivals style pseudo MMO lobbies).

For what it's worth, the physics, when they work, actually feel close to what Tony Hawk should feel like and are generally better than Robomodo's previous Tony Hawk HD.

I'll say this as much as there's a strong base for a good game but frankly the weird online lobby stuff is just misplaced tbh. I think it would've made far more sense for the game to have been a 30$ PSN/XBL game that stuck pretty closely to THPS 1-3's design philosophy with the success of that allowing the team to make this weird MMO thing they wanted to make with an actual proper budget and a solid base to build off because I do think the multiplayer stuff is a good idea, just not one for a classic Tony Hawk game.

So, apparently, there's a Game Mod for Tony Hawk's Underground 2 called THUG Pro.

Any thoughts?

Vicarious Visions does some great work so their involvement somewhat mitigates the fact that this is the third compilation of TH 1+2 that we've gotten.

It's a shame it's the first two games, since they're the most mechanically primitive. Like, it'll be great to get good games in the series again even if they're remakes, but I hope they won't stick so closely to the heavier, clunkier mechanics of the first especially.

Yeah, I'm just going to call a mod to change that.

I was recently reminded how the original Pro Skater 2 had Spider-Man as a Guest Skater, mostly because Neversoft, the developers of the original Pro Skater 2, also developed the Spider-Man game for PlayStation 1.

However, years have passed and Spidey has a different parent now. Think Vicarious Visions will be able to convince Disney to share Spider-Man for this remaster+? Or will they have to improvise with Crash Bandicoot or something?

I doubt it. Unless they can get a deal with Sony, doesn't seem as likely.

If they have to add a new guest character it should be Spyro. He's had skateboarding experience thanks to Spyro: Year of the Dragon :p

Maybe if this compilation does well we'll get remasters of 3 and 4?

Considering how good 3 and Underground are, I'd kill for those to be remade. 4 can stay in the trash, and Underground 2 is still very good, just kind of cluttered with gimmicks.

Nice.

Decent portable Tony Hawk would have been my dream when I was younger.

Well, considering how much time I put into the (objectively not very great) GBA versions... I suppose it was my dream.

I honestly don't know how I'd feel about a 3 remake. I've just played the game so much that any changes to the music would be really jarring to me.

Hey, the GBA games were legitimately solid. Obviously not a patch on console, but still enjoyable.

We're Vicarious Visions the ones who made most of the handheld Tony Hawk games? I'm sure they won't have too much of a problem porting THPS1+2 to the Switch.

They were, and they also did the one DS game, which is probably why they were chosen to handle THPS 1+2

Speaking of, the demo for the game is out if you preorder the game or get the Tony Hawk Burrito. I've basically been playing it since it came out, it feels so good to play a proper Tony Hawk game after all these years.

In case people missed it, game came out today and has gotten very good review scores. Currently sitting at an 88 on Metacritic, a far cry from the 32 that THPS 5 got.

I'm still baffled why 3 wasn't included.

Also what did they do to the school at 2? They turned it into some post-apocalypse zone lmao
