I swear arguing in circles is all this thread does. Will not hesitate to get a mod if things get heated.

Perhaps we should move on then?

Another show has have joined The Mandalorian: a show about Cassian Andor pre-Rogue One, which is going to be executive produced/showrun by Stephen Schiff, a writer and executive producer for The Americans. And considering that The Americans is considered one of the very best spy shows in recent history, it looks like the Cassian Andor show might be in good hands.

More on The Mandalorian: Gina Carano and Nick Nolte are playing characters, alongside the main character played by Pedro Pascal.

Cassian! Espionage and rebellion in the Mid Rim and Core? Dark Times? I can but hope.

I like the idea of seeing more of the character, knowing the doom that awaits him. That's very Star Wars, and interesting fodder for a spy story.

[up]*3 Honest question, are you really all that surprised that most conversations regarding the last Jedi are going to end up being divisive?

[up]Seems less surprise and more exasperation, considering that two threads already got locked for the exact same behavior...

If you ask me this probably could be avoided by locking this thread and unlocking the general thread.

At least with the main thread the chance of going into a conversation about The Last Jedi would be significantly reduced.

Considering this is a thread for the Last Jedi it would logically come up and snowball into one of many old circular arguments. Especially if all it takes is someone not aware of those past conversations coming in and accidentally starting a mess once again.

Arguments do go in circles mainly because there's no new ground left to discuss regarding this movie in particular. And no one is going to change their stances just because someone disagrees with them.

If this thread DID get locked I wouldn't miss it.

The Mandalorian cast has official been announced:

Pedro Pascal (Narcos) has been cast in the title role as a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. He is joined by Gina Carano (Deadpool), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), and Nick Nolte (Affliction).
I think my first reaction is: Werner Herzog? Holy crap, I am in.

Earlier today I found this while surfing the web and figured I would share it with everyone here so they could take a look.

It is an article in regards to Qui-Gon Jinn and a comic that occurs before episode 1.

I wonder if Sheev was aware of this. Very good reason to want Qui-Gon double-dead if so.

Probably not gonna find a huge base of support for this, but that screenshot of the planet in the article reminded me — while we're going back to characters from the time of the prequels and reintroducing elements of the old EU, having acknowledged that yes, Ahsoka, there was a Thrawn, murmuring about maybe the Vong do exist in some form... I want Vergere. The way she started out, I mean. Not-Sith, yet not-a-Jedi Vergere. Just sayin'.

The Plagueis novel already basically confirmed this; Plagueis and Palpatine both realize when they meet Anakin that if Qui-Gon doesn't die, and is successfully able to train Anakin, they're dead.

And while the article makes big of Qui-Gon's philosophical views, this isn't really a new aspect of the character.

His belief were thoroughly established in the EU, and strongly hinted at in the films, where his fringe view of the Force in comparison to the more dogmatic Council is why he is somewhat of a maverick.

Though it's good to have solid confirmation of it in the new canon, considering how much lore and worldbuilding has been left in a nebulous state when Legends was established.

That was more my takeaway, yeah. What used to be confirmed in the books and comics has been up in the air for a while.

I don't care for this Qui-Gonn revelation, for a couple reasons that both stem from issues in the prequels.

Firstly, prophesied one plots are stupid and lame. I'm sad they leaned into it.

Secondly, one of the ways the first movie botched it is there wasn't any darkness in Anakin at the time. There was by Episode II, but even that was less "darkness within" and more Age-Appropriate Angst for a teenager.

I've never minded The Chosen One in general because there's more to a story than a single trope or its blandest use.

Maybe he was'nt aware of it as much as he knew the that Anakin would have a master eventually and wanted it to be someone inexperienced like Obi.
