Still waiting for Del Toro's remake of The Haunted Mansion...
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Del Toro released a list of Development Hell projects on twitter a few months ago. That might have been part of the reason Netflix might have bought into the Pinocchio one?

I don't know. It might also be that he gets roped into so many projects that fall through that he takes on a lot for the sake that ONE of them will finally go through.
It might be a bit of both, to be honest. Still comes out to the same outcome though.
I do think he genuinely wants to make all these movies, since a lot of them seem to be be passion projects for him (I mean, this guy is a Haunted Mansion fan bar none), but he has too many ideas, and not nearly enough time.
Or too many ideas that aren't seen as marketable to shitty marketing people. Too niche, even if they'd probably do really well and ignoring how lauded and awarded Del Toro's works have been.
I hate Channel Awesome with a passion, but one joke I will apprecieate is their mockery of Business Marketing people who went 'But if you look at the graph' regardless of the argument made.
The dude took a grimdark fairy tale set in Facist Spain with not a lick of English in the dialogue and with a complete aversion of Child Immortality and made it a successful film with dozens of awards. That's a movie A LOT of production houses would turn down without a second thought.
Yeah...I mean, on the one hand: It is hard to tell which pitch will work out in the end and which one won't. Sometimes it is the batshit crazy pitch which results in a great movie. Sometimes what sounds like a bad idea on paper can end up something really impressive.
On the other hand though: It is obvious that often those decisions are made based on "X is popular, so let's do the same thing".
Still voiced by Nancy Cartwright, FYI.
I just noticed Disney hasn't greenlit Bambi or Snow White and the Seven Dwarves remakes yet. That's so weird. I'd take a live-action Bambi over The Lion King any day. It's more grounded and would make a better xenofiction film than "The Lion King but in CGI".
Rufus is really cute, but I wonder if the jokes about the film using most of their budget on him might be true. The special effects all look bland... except for Rufus.
Someone already remade a live action Snow White, something that probably gave them the idea to begin with.
Live action Bambi is possible, probably after Lion King, but they won't remake Snow White and Seven Dwarfs it's sacred to them life their Mascot
New theme music also a boxyou mean the Kristen Stewart one?
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Disney might be reluctant to green light a Snow White movie due to the last three live action Snow White movies that weren't by Disney.
Oh definitely, they're probably pissed someone did it before them, made lots of money instead of them and there's nothing they can do about it since the Snow White story is public domain
New theme music also a boxThere actually was a Snow White cheapquel considered during the Eisner era where they would've had Dopey talk. I'm glad it didn't go anywhere.
Keep Snow White from getting her own movie, the Maleficent and Cinderella ones were bland already.
Actually, there are supposedly TWO Snow White movies that are in the development pipeline last we heard. One that is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and another that is 'Snow White and Rose Red'.
Disney posted a teaser trailer of the live-action "Aladdin" movie.
CG Will Smith Genie has an uncomfortably meaty head. D:

Oh god his face on the CGI looks so weird
New theme music also a boxOh god. Genie was... ugh, and I was ready for ugh.
But that's the best sounding they could get for Jafar? Really?
I think I will have nightmares because of Genie...THAT looks REALLY creepy.
In widescreen HD so you can scream even more.
There was a live-action Pinocchio announced a few years ago, which was to be directed by, believe it or not, Paul Thomas Anderson.

Which seems like an insane mismatch of director and subject matter but who knows. Anyway, after PTA left the project the whole thing was forgotten, it seems.
