I thought Disney couldn't use King Louie anymore?
Something tells me that Louie's song is going to need some cowbell.
I did see the 1994 version. Granted it wasn't like the book or Disney flick, but I enjoyed it.

It's Over Anakin, I have the high ground!Yes, they can't. Louis Prima's wife sued Disney over it.
I don't see why they're doing this. Not only did they make a live-action Jungle Book about 20 years ago, though no one remembers that, half the reason the original worked was the performances of Phil Harris and Louis Prima. Both of them are dead.
That doesn't bode well.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Isn't there another studio developing a live-action Jungle Book? I see another Snow White/Snow White and the Hunstman on our hands...
In terms of casting, I'm down for Idris Elba as Sher Khan (though the other adaptation has Benedict Cumberbatch as Sher Khan, which is spot on IMO). That'll e cool though Scar Jo as Kaa had me raising an eyebrow because I always though Kaa was male...but I guess the movies already kind of a sausage fest when you think about it...

The Russian version had a female Bagheera, so I don't mind a female Kaa. (Though I do feel that they would need to work Kaa's character since it can get a bit creepy.)
And you're right, Warner Bros has their own version with Andy Serkis as the director and Baloo.
Walken is "King Louie", Bill Murray is Baloo in the Disney version.

It's Over Anakin, I have the high ground! They also have a female Kaa. Cate Blanchett. It sounds like Warner is sticking to Kipling for their project, so they won't be exactly like Disney. Also Christian Bale as Bagheera. But Cumberbatch as Khan (hehehe) is probably the best casting choice thus far.
I think Serkis is a better fit for Baloo than Walken, personally.
Both seem like rather strange projects.
I'll just mention that female Kaa has certain fetish communities quite intrigued and leave it at that.
Furries?
The quasi-all-star cast on that Wikipedia page has me nervous. Mainly because that means it will be either really good or really bad.
Plot twist: It turns out this is all for a live-action adaptation of Tale Spin.

Mind Control. I know we've long since deleted Fetish Fuel and its associated tropes and spinoff wikis, but in a literal reading of the trope, the character was what inspired the fetish to a lot of people. Having er, her, voiced by women, now...

Makes me wonder if Disney is going to alter Kaa's character a bit... because how Kaa was portrayed in the animated version carries some creepy undertones, especially in the present with the idea of "Stranger Danger."

It's Over Anakin, I have the high ground! This assumes that they're just redoing the original in live-action, where everyone keeps the same relative roles and motives. Either that or the gender change will simply play the Double Standard and make it, at worst, into a straight-shotacon thing if they keep the predatory undertones.
Wait, is people trying to read sexual subtext in Kaa now?
Jesus, sometimes a banana is just a banana!
Was dismayed with this, as I am with all these other live action remakes, until I read about Christopher Walken as Louie. TAKE ALL MY MONEY, DISNEY. EVEN IF THIS ISN'T A STEALTH TALESPIN MOVIE.
Not "trying." It's been a rule 34 thing for a while now.
What if they do an Age Lift to Mowgli? Like, to make him 16/17?
Also quite possible. I'd imagine (most) audiences could get uncomfortable watching a shirtless boy run around for 90 minutes.
According to Wikipedia, Neel Sethi, Disney's Mowgli is 10, and Warner's Mowgli, Rohand Chand, is 11-12, so no Dawson Casting, which is a good sign, I suppose.

"Christopher Walken as Louie"
...
Weirdest version of "I Wanna Be Like You" ever.
And yet I can't help but think someone's done it before.
Oh God! Natural light!Much as I like Christopher Walken, I hope to God they don't try to make him do what Louis Prima did in the original.
Hopefully King Louie will be a little more tailored to Walken's, well, talents.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."It would easily fall into So Bad, It's Good territory, though.
I heard "The Bare Necessities" is the only old song that's going to be featured, with new songs being written.
