I don't follow Yahtzee and I don't care if he didn't like the game.
Yahtzee doesn't like something? Water is wet. Dude's kind of notoriously hard to please.
I do enjoy his content but I don't strictly take everything he says at face value since his shtick is to Accentuate the Negative, even when he reviews a game he does like.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Sounds like he liked it but just thought it had some issues. The guy can't say anything uniformly positive about anything cause of what Karx said.
It does have some issues so.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI bought the game and just finished it. For the most part I had a great time, though there were a few points of frustration, mostly when a boss used an undodgable attack.
Does anything unlock for collecting every pagie?
So the One Book came from that ship in Shipwreck Creek. I'm assuming it washed up there due to a storm or something, but who owned the ship originally? It was probably a pirate who stole the One Book from someplace, but I'd like to know more.

Happy Video Game Nerd is not happy at all.
Eh, screw that guy, then.
Er, any word on the Switch version of the game? Because I finally got a Switch and the only true way to play a Rare Playtonic game is on a Nintendo console.
Just that its still being worked on. No date.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireFunny enough, this necro is on topic.
Yooka-Laylee for the Switch is coming December 14th.
Well, that's one heck of a way to revive a thread.
(Here's to hoping they fix whatever hiccups the earlier versions had. I know I remember reading about people saying something about problems in the game and whatnot.)
Yooka and Laylee 4 smash bros anyone?
New theme music also a boxI want an amiibo.

Nice to finally have a date for the Switch version. I hope it's not too late for the game.
"Okay, yeah, I guess Ollie fits the goofy sidekick role, but being a princess doesn't mean I spontaneously sing about everything, 'kay?"Is anyone else playing this game on Switch? I got it the other night and have been playing it on and off. The camera is pretty dodgy and the item placement is kind of atrocious in places, but other than that it's pretty good.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?It's out now? Gonna pick it up then.
I've been playing this game for the past few days and while it's definitely not without its flaws, I think it deserves much better reviews than it got. Jim Sterling in particular was way up his own ass.
I'm not saying it's a better game (if you look at the nuts and bolts of the thing, it certainly isn't), but I'm having more fun playing Yooka-Laylee than I did playing Mario Odyssey.
My favorite levels are Capital Cashino and Galleon Gallaxy. They really feel like they belong in a hypothetical Banjo-Threeie. The other three levels are good, but they should've had more original settings/themes.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm currently on Gangplank Galleon world and I've been having a blast. Is it a great game? No, but it is definitely a good one. However, the overall 'feel' of the game is a bit disjointed, like too many ideas mashed into each world. Like instead of one cohesive 'feel' to the world, it's like a big collection of mini-games and challenges just scattered across the world and you're just going from one to the next finding collectables. Is that standard? Other than that, I can dig while people love this style of gameplay.
I just started playing this a couple of days ago. Funnily enough its indirectly because of the Steam sale. I decided I should give it a play to decide if I'll pick up A Hat In Time as well, since I got Yooka Laylee a month or so ago.
I'm about 5-6 hours in so far, with Worlds 1 and 4 being the only ones I've explored in depth. I rushed to World 5 just now so that I could have all the moves when as I move though the worlds in sequence to get those 100 Pagies.
I'll echo Darkflamewolf above. The worlds do feel a bit cramped because of the 25 Pagies.
And overall they aren't that much bigger than Kazooie or Tooie which only had 10.
Given that I haven't finished the game yet, not even half way really, this isn't exactly 100% accurate. But I'd give this game a 8.25/10. Comparatively I'd rate Banjo-Kazooie 9.5 and both Banjo Tooie & DK 64 equal at a 9.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobI did pick up this game a while ago, when it came out, but it just feels... lacking, somehow. It's like people said last page, it's missing some kind of spice or oomph or je ne sais quoi. I'm glad to see the exploration platformer again, but I don't know if it recaptures what BK and BT had.
It's been fun.I think a large part of it is that most of the characters are really bland and uninteresting.
Probably a silly question, but is this considered an indie game? I saw someone on this site say that it was, but its Wikipedia page doesn't have it categorized as indie.
A great Mascot Mook.So finally been trying this, and I think I realized my big issue compared to Banjo Kazooie.
This, in some ways, feels almost like a less-rewarding Metroidvania. A lot of Pagies are locked behind skills you don't actually have when you first encounter them, with little warning that's the case. So instead of meticulously clearing out a level with the tools in your arsenal, it feels like the general gameplay loop is to rush as far as possible and focus on getting Quills over everything else, meet Trowzer in later levels, buy all his moves, then go back to previous stages to find what you missed.
That and, I guess my big issue with the level design is that the stages are too big and, oddly enough, lacking in interesting landmarks. I'm only up to World 3 though, don't know if the final two pull out any stops since I've seen a few posts claiming they're the standout levels.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"
Anyone follow "Yahtzee" Croshaw?
No?
Well, he reviewed this game and he probably doesn't like it...
