Crossover Ghost Party sounds fun
And signups for the Ghost RP are up.
As to why it's focused on ghosts...simple. I just happen to love ghosts, and a ghost RP sounded like a fun idea to me.
Icon by Civvi the Civilian!Would anyone be interested in me running an OC-focused Madoka Magica rp? I'm drafting rules for one right now.
Most likely non-dice-focused but there's a possibility of some rolling.
So...is anyone still up for a Final Fantasy D20 set in Ivalice?
Magitek and other stuff from outside the Ivalice will still be allowed.
Alright, after a weekend skipped due to falling ill and then a week of busy work, the promised Mutants and Masterminds interet check/signup is up
Hope I haven't lost the interest I had here last page.
So I have an idea for an RP that I think would be a lot of fun, but I want to do an interest check and/or idea bounce here first. This is also the first TV Tropes RP I'd make, so I'd like to have a co-GM, but I'll go to the looking-for-GMs thread later if this idea gets off the ground.
"The Unpublished Void. A vacuum filled with characters: characters who only reside in their creator's mind, characters whose names, clothes, powers are constantly subject to change. They are half-formed ideas, far different from their counterparts the published characters, ones that live out their days in stories and film in the bright eye of the public."
"Until one day. Several of these unpublished characters decide to take matters into their own hands. They band together and journey across the void to find the Publisher, the gatekeeper between O.C.s and canon, between living only in the dark mind of an author and on the pages of a storybook on a shelf."
"But it won't be easy—as these original characters get closer to being published, their world becomes more defined. The surroundings of the void will begin to shift from one unpublished setting to another. And that's not the only threat, or even the most dangerous. There is a reason the Unpublished Void exists. There are some characters that are just not supposed to be published, for only chaos awaits those that get out into the real world. These characters are too strong for their own good. They believe they are always doing what's right. They assume their own perfection makes them far more qualified than any of the band of Original Characters to get past the Publisher, and with their unimaginable powers they will stop at nothing to stop them in their tracks. They are:"
"The Mary Sues."
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.that sounds pretty interesting
off the shitsTotally down for that.
Is Sonichu going to be there? Because seriously, a RP like that just can't go and not include one of the most well-known Gary Stus on Internet.

I am the most suitable partner for Gaia. I have some bad news. You will not make it to Eden. This is the end of your journey.Technically, Sonichu is a published character, so he'll just serve as a good example of why the unpublished Mary Sues shouldn't be allowed to leave :P
You know those characters floating around in the back of your mind that you don't have a place for? I know I've got at least seven or eight. The goal of this RP is to give these characters a chance to shine. It'll work best for labors-of-love characters that you've had in your head for months or years, but OCs created specifically for the RP will be regarded as just born.
Though yes, this means that if you happen to become a published author in the middle of this RP, your character will disappear and you'll have to choose a new one.
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.YES
i have like, tons of those lol
off the shitsI'm a bit confused on one thing, would we be playing as the Mary Sues?
Wouldn't the Mary Sues be the villains?
off the shitsNope! The Mary Sues are the antagonists.
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating. But who is the Big Bad? The biggest, baddest, least well thought-out Mary Sue?
I am the most suitable partner for Gaia. I have some bad news. You will not make it to Eden. This is the end of your journey.Definitely interested in this!
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOIIf you're talking Characters-That-Should-Not-Be, does that mean there'll be surprising moments of darkness? Cause with all those Complete Monsters out there, and with Mary Sues as a primary antagonist force I would be surprised if there's no villainously deranged characters trying to get Published.
"The Omniverse is the collection of all possibilities, and all possibilities must eventually come to pass."I would be 100% down for this.
mario is red, i am green, i try my best, but everyone's mean@arcada188 I haven't considered a Big Bad yet, actually. The focus will mostly be on the characters, their interactions and their journey, but having Mary Sues being the villains to make things more interesting seemed like a logical (and super fun) conclusion.
I could combine that with Kkutwar's idea and make the Big Bad a deranged villain, but the two sides aren't heroes vs villains in this case—they're Good Characters versus Bad Characters. I assumed most people would want to join as a hero, but anyone who has a villain character would most likely be in a Go-Karting with Bowser situation. Everyone understands that letting a Mary Sue out into the real world is a bigger crime than letting out the Complete Monsters because a villain that still has a good characterization will not degrade the realm of fiction in any way. There could still be a character certifiably insane who helps the Mary Sues for no good reason, though.
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.Hooray for the Generic Doomsday Villain and Straw Nihilist Tropes! Oh, wait, no... Though since this is Good versus Badly Written, the Mary Sues are ultimately just a threat right? Plus, fiction can have great influence, so I imagine even some Good Written characters might be too awesome to permit existence. Too Cool to Live taken to an extreme...
However, since this is a Void where all Unfinished characters lay, would there technically even be a Big Bad? The Big Bad is responsible for the badness of the story, even if only indirectly. Yet, since this is Good Vs Badly Written, it isn't about morality. The Badly Written characters would ultimately be a swarm of people desperately trying to exist, so... Tragic Villain really, since they just want to be yet the protectors of Narrative Decency can't allow it.
Oh, wait, since this is a bizarre Another Dimension... I suppose the Big Bad could be a Good Written character who wants more to just be Published- They wanna rule entire multiverses. Thus, attempting to use the Badly Written characters to defeat The Publisher and anyone else that'll try to stop their plans of becoming a Dimension Lord.

"The Omniverse is the collection of all possibilities, and all possibilities must eventually come to pass."But the existence of such flaws and tragedy would cause those characters to be good characters, thus causing a paradox!! Oh no!!!!
There's definitely a lot of undefined aspects still involved, but I think I'll be able to work it out as we go along. The very basic idea is characters going through a place with a purpose, so as long as we have that there will be plenty of time to overthink good vs evil and the real impact the characters have on the "real" world and what will happen if a player's OC is discovered by the others to be a Mary Sue in disguise. It will be fun.
Anyways, if everyone's okay with this, I think I'm able to move on to the co-GM thread!
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.Oh my gosh, YES. I'd be totally down for it. I REALLY like the idea and I know what you mean, I have like, lots of those characters in my head (if only I could remember them all).
"You said you had a dream... That dream... Make it come true! ... If anyone can, it's you!" - N (shortened) Oh, and I'm a girl.I am also very down for that.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertSo, here, I had some little ideas.
- A RP happening in the far future, somewhere around 2300s. The Ice Age has swallowed up the world, yet massive metropolises that are seen around Sahara, the coasts of Mediterranean and the Equator shine, their peaks piercing the sky. However, most people live in a state of poverty, and some adventurers are willing to go through the freezing hell to recover some artifacts related to the past. Yet another strange phenomenon are people with enhanced psychic and physical powers, or mutants. Although they are discriminated against, they allowed for a much better study of the mind, resulting in many new fun devices.
- A RP that similarly happens around 2300s, but on the opposite spectrum of cataclysms - the Global Warming. Most of the world is under the seas, and the climate is unforgivingly hot. Most people live in slums, trying to be safe from the drowning ocean and pirates that roam it. However, some adventurers are willing to go to the depths of the sea to recover treasure...
- A TaleSpin RP. The Age of Aviation is starting to decline, but airplanes and the Khan Industries have yet to fall. You are a young animal, bear/fox/snake/whatever, and you find yourself involved with the sky, whether you are a modest, middle-class dog from Cape Suzette, a street thug coyote escaping from the authorities, or a Ghafian jackal who has spent most of his time wearing red robes. However, the Sky Pirates are not the only threat. A mysterious organization, descended from the equally enigmatic Thaddeus E. Klang's mercenary group, has been rising in the deserts of Ghafia... and some Pandas, wearing the robes of the legendary Panda-La, can be seen behind a corner.
- A Kamandi RP. As humans became mere beasts, beasts became as smart as humans. However, this is not a tale of the last boy on Earth. This is the tale of various Animal-Men, struggling to survive in the apocalyptic world.

I guess that's fine. I'm just wondering why ghosts but meh. I only really want the crossover part. :P Then I wouldn't really think much about the ghost part if it's a crossover, meaning you can be any kind of species that's now a ghost/dead.
