Poor Image: Tinfoil Hat

Okay, this picture is really blurry, and even if it wasn't I doubt it would be a good illustration anyway, as it's not very obvious the hat is tinfoil.

A replacement shouldn't be too hard to find. My first suggestion is this picture from the movie Signs.

Edit: Changed the picture link to one that actually works. There're others with a slightly different angle that may be of better quality... (if it wasn't watermarked... didn't notice the first time).

Wow, that's bad. I can't look at the suggestion right now, but if it's the pic I'm thinking of that will be perfect.

~St Fan, that pic doesn't load.

He's apparently fixed the link; I prefer the second suggestion; even cropped and resized down the people and the hats are more prominent.

The only problem I have with these suggestions is that the trope is about "When a writer wants to establish a character as a Conspiracy Theorist, a Crazy Survivalist, or another kind of paranoid weirdo, they usually give them hats made out of tinfoil to wear, ostensibly to protect themselves from The Government's Mind Control rays. ", and not tinfoil hats period.

(Also, what is that Real Life digression in the trope description?)

On the one hand, it's a hilariously funny and good illustration of the trope. In the other hand, it might be a little too busy. Otherwise, that's the best suggestion so far so it has my tentative vote [tup]

I thought of Signs as well. Nine guy from Futurama is also a possibility. Also Bart Simpson. The foil isn't quite there over his head, but the paranoia is.

What the 9 guy is wearing doesn't look like a hat, though (I initially thought it was an oddly texxtured hair). The Bart Simpson one is slightly better.

[up] Agreed on both, although I still kinda lean toward the Signs pic.

That still looks like just a tinfoil hat.

[up] As much as I like the Signs pic, Weird Al trumps everything so far. [up] FTW, especially if there's a line from the song that fits the trope.

The entire second half of the song goes full-on Conspiracy Theorist mode

Oh, by the way, I cracked the code.
I've figured out the shadow organizations.
And the Illuminati knoooooow,
That they're finally primed for world domination.

And soon you've got black helicopters comin' cross the border
Puppet masters for the New World Order
Be aware: there's always someone that's watching you
And still the government won't admit they faked the whole moon landing
Thought control rays, psychotronic scanning
Don't mind that, I'm protected cause I made this hat

From aluminum foil (foil)
Wear a hat that’s foil lined
In case an alien's inclined
To probe your butt or read your mind
Looks a bit peculiar ('culiar)
Seems a little crazy
But someday I'll prove (I'll prove, I'll prove, I'll prove)
There's a big conspiracy

I like the following:

Thought control rays, psychotronic scanning Don't mind that, I'm protected cause I made this hat

Because of the rhyme at the end and because it indicates that the trope is not just about tinfoil hats.

I think we can put Mind-Control Device and maybe Waxing Lyrical into the caption, and a note linking to the video.
