The Dear My Sister OVA is out in Japanese theatres today. I wonder how many of our number, especially the Manga Time Kirara folks, will be flying out to Japan to watch this?
The only resource you need for tropesThe OVA is out at what we call the 'usual sources'. It's an hour long, super endearing to watch and beautifully animated.
The only resource you need for tropesJust got around to watching it, myself. Like you said, it's a welcome addition, although I'm wondering if it comes a bit too late. It's been two and a half years since the second season aired, and going from the lack of discussions here, I don't think anyone's really been interested or cares about this series since season two ended.
Being cleverer than you look is better than looking cleverer than you are.I saw an ad for it and was thinking of checking it out, though I never finished season 2.
It's been fun.Did you see the part where Mahou Shoujo Chino appears? That was such a pleasant surprise: what was once an April Fools' joke became the real deal. Reminds me of a joke on Battlefield 1's lMG 08/18's reload made in the community that ended up in the real game. I love it when studios do this sort of thing, it shows that they care
The only resource you need for tropesHehe. The beginning was a nice reminder that Cocoa and Chiya are tight.
Oho. Rize's military secrets are top notch. Also, nice Chino/Rize moments.
Whoa. Cocoa's hometown is very scenic.
The Hot Bakerteers, getting things done!
This trip home made Cocoa appreciate Mocha more. Be mirthful, Mocha!
A fireworks festival to remember. Aren't ya glad, Chino?
All this time passed, and Gochiusa still got it!
Dear My Sister OVA. In witch there are fluffy families.
Being overly emotional over something silly, check. We're back.
You know, I think she has the right interpretation of that letter.
Suddenly, Blue Mountain.
Does an Imagine Spot ever play out the way it was imagined?
That's a fluffy family.
Good ol' Rize. Or young, I suppose.
I like how two of them are afraid, while the last one is a little more used to the sergeant.
Can she be any more tsundere?
Was that a barista/barrister pun?
To be fair to Cocoa, the Rabbit House serves about that many customers in a month.
Sparkly, sparkly Syaro...
They seem to be quite a far distance away. I don't think they'd be able to walk that far in that short time. It's also not a good idea to watch fireworks from such a long distance, since you still want to be reasonably close.
So that's the outfit she wanted her to wear...
Check out my fanfiction!Yes I did, thoroughly loved it.
I see that the episode summaries are back, which is a good sign that more people are seeing the OVA. This is genuinely something that fans of the series deserve.
The only thing that’s missing now from this discussion is some of those seminar-style questions, remarks on the town's economy and some Jungian analysis on Chino that one of our number is so fond of

Being cleverer than you look is better than looking cleverer than you are.Let me be the first to bring the news that there will be a third season in 2020, and next year, there's an OVA for GochiUsa.
The most appropriate for such a popular series.
Scientia et Libertas | Per Aspera ad Astra NovaLooks like the OVA is set for a fall 2019 release. I wonder how many will return to analyze the crap out of this one, Myssa Rei-style
The only resource you need for tropesI didn't even know there were two OVAs. Will have to check those out.

Double-posting, but we're getting a season 3 in October
Triple-posting now, it seems. Anyone watching the newest season?
I am caught up. It’s still cuddly.
- Apparently some Japanese viewers have identified the phones the cast uses: Long things short, Chino and Rize use high-end phones (Xperia SP and 5th-gen iPhone resp.), Chiya and Sharo use entry-level smartphones, and Cocoa, strangely, uses a feature phone.
Per this post, the actual phone models are as follows:
- Cocoa: Fujitsu F-01C
- Chino: Sony Xperia SP
- Rize: iPhone 5
- Chiya: Sharp Aquos Phone SL
- Syaro: Honey Bee 201K
The Xperia SP is actually a mid-end phone, and while it may appear surprising, feature phones were still somewhat common back in 2014 in Japan, so it's not that surprising Cocoa uses one. This choice hints at Cocoa's home as being in a more rural area, something which was shown to be true as of Dear My Sister.
OVA out November 11.
