I have Frozen to thank for getting me into writing again. A few years ago I started writing fics in a journal after doing nothing but bemoaning my writing abilities for years. I haven't posted them anywhere yet, but I still write a lot of Frozen fics...

A lot of early!Elsa fics too, actually. I am dissatisfied by the fandom's portrayal of proto!Elsa and thus have written multiple stories about various incarnations of her. She's pretty amusing to write. I don't have a knack for canon!Elsa. She's just so... hard to write.

I have Frozen to thank to get me writing fanfiction at all.
Now if only I could someday finish the one I've been working on for more than two years... it's not even that I have writer's block, just that the story progresses awfully slowly because I don't want to rush it (also, I can't write as often as I'd like).

I have a few half-finished fics. I typically write in big spurts. I need to write then or I'll lose any inspiration to finish the story. I'm trying to fix that - you can't write a book in two hours - but it's hard.

I have a Frozen fic I began in 2015 and it's just there in my notebook. It's two or three pages long but not half-finished. Eventually I changed it from a oneshot to a chapter fic as a result.

And now I have the trainwreck that is Pacific Rim: Uprising to thank for those plotbunnies wanting me to do an Arctic Rim 2.

I still consider Secret Passages (link) to be one of the better Frozen fanfics out there. It covers Elsa and Anna's sibling relationship from Elsa's 16th birthday up through her coronation and the events of the movie.

It provides a lot of depth for Elsa and Anna's relationship in the five years prior to the events of the movie. I'd even say it handles things more realistically than other stories. Like, this story depicts Elsa as having a rebellious streak during her late teenage years and harbors deep resentment towards her parents for separating her from Anna, a streak that's just as bad as Anna's (which in this case means slipping notes through Elsa's doornote , Elsa pretending to be sick to get her parents to let her see Anna, sneaking into Anna's room to play charades with her, that kind of stuff).

Hell, I even say I like how this story applies a lot of new depth to Elsa's and Anna's actions during the events of the movie, depicting what's going on in their heads during the coronation and the argument that leads to Elsa's powers being revealed, showing Elsa as squeeing with joy when Anna shows up at her ice palace. And we see what Elsa is doing between the end of "Let it Go" and when Anna shows up: the ice palace has a lot more rooms than just what Anna stepped into (Elsa recreates her old bedroom and even tops it off with an ice sculpture of Anna). At one point, she actually tries to foray for food, only to be scared off by seeing the same wolves that chased Anna and Kristoff.

Guess the only disclaimer to really make about it is that it does depict Elsa attempting suicide after the fadeout at the end of "Do You Want To Build a Snowman".

Help me guys, I don't want to be drawn to the rabbit hole that is Arctic Rim 2, I really don't...

(The darker and action-ier Frozen 2 teaser as well as the description of the above mentioned fic is really not helping matters)

[up][up] I've tried that fic but it's not to my liking. I prefer Elsa as having been a near-complete shut-in instead. "Near-complete" because it's obvious that Elsa left her room occasionally.

One of my favorite Frozen fics is Darkness Burning. It's a Hurt/Comfort Fic AU where Elsa and Anna's parents survived their voyage without issue. I'm surprised not that many writers have used this idea. I've seen plenty of fics where they survive the actual storm, but few where the storm outright didn't happen.

I'm just gonna have to agree to disagree there, because honestly, I kinda buy the idea that Elsa would develop a rebellious streak in her teenage years much like Anna would.

I remember reading this really, REALLY good fan fic called Frozen: A Dark Retelling and I got halfway through it...but when I tried to get back to it, it practically disappeared. I hear the author deleted it, but I wonder why? It was really well written and I wanted to read more! Does anyone know why the author deleted it? I really wish I could finish it.

Sometimes writers delete their works. What really sucks is that there's almost no way to retrieve these works. Most people don't back up fics, fewer reupload them, and the Wayback Machine doesn't work on Fanfiction Dot Net.

Frozen II means a flood of new fics. There's already dozens of them on AO3 alone.

Sadly, I can't enjoy them. The ending to the film is too infuriating and I can't enjoy any post-canon works. I was really looking forward to Elsamaren too.

[up] Aren't there some Fix Fics that change the ending? Unless TV Tropes it the only place where people are upset at it.

I'm annoyed that I've been stuck writing the same fic for the last 4 years (it's a long fic and I'm slow) while I already have two sequels in mind...

[up][up][up][up] This posting is only up to chapter 22, and the wayback machine didn't save all of the fanfiction.net chapters where it was completed :( On the plus side it works for the site as a whole now.

I was looking on fanfiction.net for fix fics but surprisingly didn't find many; I found a lot of Elsa/Honeymaren fics though, and the Elsa/Anna train hasn't slowed down at all XD; Poor Kristoff.

[up][up] I've seen people complain about the ending elsewhere but I haven't seen any fix fics yet. They're probably on FFN.

There aren't nearly enough Frozen 2 Fix Fics and AUs for my liking. At least there's a lot of Elsamaren.

Thought about it, had a decently promising idea in the main thread, but I think I lost interest in actually putting it into text.

Getting all into character feelings and emotions also isn't really my thing. Think I'd have to read a bunch more from authors that actually know how to handle that stuff for it to work.

I think it is a damning indictment of Frozen 2 that I came out of it with like zero new inspiration for the Arctic Rim setting.
