I'm frankly more shocked this beat Wall-E in every category.
WTF.
I personally do prefer Kung Fu Panda to WALL-E, but that’s just me.
It's been 3000 years…Yeah, Kung Fu Panda is a bit weird about fat people. On one hand, it sure loves making fun of it, but on the other, his being fat is what gives him his unique fighting ability and durability. It's like the movie wants to have it both ways: play the fat jokes straight, and then subvert them.
And I admit that I usually don't really care about celebrity voices too. As long as the performance is good, I don't really mind who does it.

Optimism is a duty.Kung Fu panda 1 has a lot of weird plot beats that seemingly exists in opposition to each other. Much of the plot is about Po's difficulty learning, and his master having to learn a method of teaching Po that works for him...
...But Po's training ultimately never matters in the first film. He defeats Tai Lung just by being fat and naturally resistant to his attacks. And by using a special move he learned instantly from being exposed to it once (Which means that Po simultaneously has trouble learning Kung Fu but at the same time is a savant who can learn moves from just seeing them once, not even in a teaching context, without trying.)
The characters who train hard to achieve the position of Dragon Warrior are pushed aside (Tai Lung, Tigress), and while Po does work hard to train, ultimately that training is also meaningless.
It's definitely one of those movies one shouldn't think too deeply about its message (which is funny considering how the final battle kinda really wants to go to some aesop with the whole scroll thing).
Tbh I kinda came out of the first movie with the impression that the finger hold was also a belief thing. Just weaponized against the target. If they believe in its power, they skadoosh themselves.
Also oh my god the fandom wikia on it
"Though unconfirmed, the move might have been inspired by the "Five-Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique" from the Kill Bill films."
Yeah. Sure. Inspired by the one-hit-kill move with which it has zero movement similarity and not by the general trope of OHK wuxia moves.

The show America couldn't stop talking about, which was really bad news for the movie on Disney+ behind a $30 paywall, it's WandaVision!
Honest Game Trailer is a double dose of Mario, Super Mario 3D World and the Bowser's Fury add-on.
You mean all the moves that fail to accomplish anything, and ultimately don't even manage to keep the scroll from Tai Lung (which it turns out didn't matter coz the scroll is meaningless). Coz none of them keep Tai Lung from gaining the scroll, or defeat Tai Lung.
So yes, his training does not accomplish anything. Po literally wins the fight when he stops doing stuff he's trained for and just uses the fact that he's somehow able to learn moves by seeing them once (so much about most of the movie's plot) and the fact that he's so fat Tai Lung can't actually harm him.

You act like the movie immediately goes from “Tai Lung finds out the scroll has nothing in it” to “Po uses the finger hold” and are skipping the part where Po does use actual skill to beat Tai Lung. With the finger hold coming in right after Tai became a complete wreck.
So if there was an HT on The Angry Video Game Nerd series or movie, would James be credited as "The Irate Gamer" or would there be some backlash?
Phoebe and Her Unicorn thread: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=16104243270A34144300Yeah a big thing about Po’s fight with Tai-Lung is that the former slowly wears him down throughout the course of the encounter.
Using everything he’s learned plus his own unique wits and ingenuity, he manages to engage Tai-Lung in fairly even grounds despite the latter’s martial superiority.
Po’s own immunity to the nerve attack only comes in right at the end of the fight where Tai-Lung looks visibility exhausted and at the point of a mental breakdown after all that Po’s out him through. And at that post Po & Tai-Lung have an exchange of pure martial arts where Po pretty much uses kicks Tai-Lung’s ass because the big cat’s lost all his focus.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."That and Tai-Lung had pretty much been on the move non-stop since escaping prison, and after his big dramatic fight with Shifu, I'd assume he'd be running on fumes by that point.
It's been 3000 years…Tai Lung's defeat only happened because he destroyed himself physically and mentally in his tunnel-visioned quest for the Dragon Scroll, had he actually cared about himself and not the Scroll and being the Dragon Warrior, he wouldn't have ended up losing, but alas such is the brilliance of Kung Fu Panda, Tai Lung never learns to appreciate himself for who he is, only for how much Kung Fu he can do
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."We have a Kung Fu Panda thread, if people want to discuss the movie more in depth.
Optimism is a duty. The big animated project for Kelly Marie Tran that turned into an ignored disaster thanks to the one-two punch of a $30 paywall and Marvel shows people would rather watch on Disney Plus, it's Raya and the Last Dragon, a film that lacks The Glow.
Honest Game Trailer is the spinoff of Persona 5 (which I really need to play now that Sony is giving the thing away for free to PS 5 owners), Persona 5 Strikers!
Snyder Cut: Honest Trailer. For real this time.
The jokes about Wonder Woman and her theme music never get old.
Yeah the Booyah to "Fuck the world" got me.
From a 2 hour terrible film to a 4 hour mediocre one. That about sums it up.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I just watched the video. And I agree with most of it. The Wonder Woman's music joke made me laugh, but the rest of the jokes didn't work for me. Okay video overall though, and kind of makes me want to watch more of their videos. What are considered their best overall?

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadThe Magic Mike Honest Trailer. I love how the narrator fails to hide his attraction with all the hot, naked men in the movie and the fact they correctly point out how unlikable the main character's love interest is including a montage of her annoying laugh.
Warner Bros content claimed the joke about Wonder Woman's music so they cut it out. ROFL

I didn't know that Disney boycotted the Annie Awards because they lost to this movie. I knew the Disney Corporation is greedy beyond all measure but I didn't think that they're sore losers too.
