And then there's Sweetie Belle, who in later seasons was shown performing advanced magic despite having a cutie mark in something completely different.
Season 1 also stated/implied that Celestia and Luna were unicorns, so just because it was an established rule than doesn't mean it wasn't overwritten by later work, and if the rule has more supposed exceptions than examples and the examples is in retrospect the exception...
So thoughts on if any these fit that?
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Because while not outright contradicted there's now far more exceptions to that rule than examples, and the idea was practically never followed up?
- Informed Ability: Non-magic cutie mark ponies are supposed to still have unique spells, but (save Rarity) are never shown use them.
- Informed Flaw: The limit on non-magic cutie mark unicorns has never really been shown and we've seen as much evidence against like Sweetie Belle.
"Season 1 also stated/implied that Celestia and Luna were unicorns."
If you're referring to the prologue, you could interpret it as Celestia and Luna originally being unicorns when they raised the sun and moon and becoming Alicorns sometime afterwards.
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves. Also note that it was the fans who came up with "alicorn", and the writers just adopted that.
Optimism is a duty.So I nearly ending the first season and so far this is my thoughts.
In general is mostly what I thought it will be a children cartoon, it dosen feel cringe and annoying as other show are and indeed it have moments when it can be pretty funny like fluffershy singing with a deep male voice pinkie pie song or again fluffershy running gap of her trying to scream or explode only to do a little bip of emotion.
Im surprise rarity having so much spotlight, I feel like 5 or 5 episode feature here as the center of the conflict, ether for not saying no, ether because being to pushy or anything else, meanwhile rainbow dash and applejack get tie into a second place in devopment atention , follow by twilight(surprising given she feel like the protagonist), fuffluershy and for last pinkie pie.
So far I can see the work feel unique in that it have is own, granted sometimes it is "our work but with ponies" and others is intersting like how pegasus help with clouds was such intersting episode I love it.
my fav of the main chararter is fluffershy by the way.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Informed Flaw: The limit on non-magic cutie mark unicorns has never really been shown and we've seen as much evidence against like Sweetie Belle.
For that matter, there was a whole episode, "Marks and Recreation", dedicated to the idea that a pony's cutie mark does not limit their ability to develop other skills.
I think the show just settled on it being possible, just really hard, to develop talents or magic outside your cutie mark.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayBeen reading a manga called Bocchi the Rock (after watching the fantastic anime adaptation first) lately, and I bring it up because the main character is a pink haired introvert with social anxiety who gains friends at the start of the series and has to overcome said anxiety, much like Fluttershy, though her issues are arguably even worse than Fluttershy's. Naturally people made crossover fanart of the two like these pics. https://derpibooru.org/images/3111803

I imagine if MLP was still ultra popular like it used to be, there'd probably be pics of Hiroi and Berry Punch getting drunk together too, or Kessokou Band playing against the Humane 6 in a rock off.

Apropos of nothing, but I've been using it a lot for work and I got to thinking that Twilight would adore Microsoft Excel. She'd just go absolutely nuts for its checklist- and schedule-making potential.
Actually, I think the pony who would really go nuts for it is Pinkie Pie, the pony who compiled a database on every pony in town without so much as a computer.
Optimism is a duty.pinkie pie needs a hobby
New theme music also a boxShe has a hobby, that's the problem.
Optimism is a duty.a normal hobby!
New theme music also a boxWhat’s “normal” in the magical land of colorful talking ponies?
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.Arguably having awareness of existence beyond your own and that yours is fictional takes it's toll.
Well I finish the 1 season, nothing more to said other than as always, rarity was more important and have more screentime that I expected, also twilight didnt grab that much the spotlight except when the episode need her to deliver the aseop. Party of one was hilarious in seen Pinkie slowly decend to madness.
Im not that sold on rainbow dash since for me she have this uberly try hard actituded but sure, whatever. Fluffershy is usually my fav and applejack for me doe sbetter than rainbow in the "Usually wrong but with a lot of heart"
But overall I can see why this series was good: while it look like a child series and have obvious stuff like aseops and digestable situations, it cross the boundaries with other teen or young teen centric, this could easly be in cartoon network or other if animation wasnt so cutsy in general
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Hmm. Yeah, I think this is a good comparison. It does hit a similar general spot to a lot of the old CN shows.
Probably because lauren faust in general who already have experience with this kind of show, like rarity episode were she is kidnap but nagg them so much they just return her to the surface is a plot you can see in more old style cartoon network series as party for one with Pinky pie scary the shit out of rainbow dash.
So the show kinda cross the line between "Little girl cartoon" and "teenager cartoon".

The main issue is that bullying is one of those things that doesn't have any one catch-all solution. Regardless of what advice the episode offered, it was never going to be widely applicable to everyone.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayFaust also did work on Cartoon Network before on Powerpuff Girls 1998 and Foster's Home so that furthers the connection.
Say, what would happen if this series had been made at Cartoon Network or Disney instead of The Hub?
Reminds me of This Platinum Crown (Rarity and friends stumbling into a dueling system for nobility after the former hooks up with a post-Character Development Blueblood and fends off his previous fiancee, equal parts Game of Thrones and anime).
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.
