Sevengar getting his own spinoff? That's pretty cool. It's been really nice seeing him get a lot more attention since Z, given that he had fallen into near-obscurity after his debut in Leo. If that's not the definition of Breakout Character, than I dunno what is.
"Detecting trace amounts of mental activity. Possibly a dead weasel or a cartoon viewer"Tsuburaya announced on their Twitter that Shin Ultraman has been postponed due to Corona.
Somewhat disappointing, but not at all surprising.
Weird side-effect, we're probably now gonna have quite a lot of Shin merch before the film actually comes out.
The official Ultraman youtube channel just released a teaser for the next ultra series, Ultraman Trigger!
Looks like it'll be an AU of Tiga. Also fans can be glad now that Type change is officially back for Ultraman forms

"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."Neat. Looks like we're returning to the Tiga-Dyna universe with Trigger.
"Detecting trace amounts of mental activity. Possibly a dead weasel or a cartoon viewer"Alternate one in fact.
Also those must be Camearra, Darramb and Hudra in new designs in the first part of the video
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."Trigger made his stage show debut.
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."So Netflix is making a new Ultraman CG movie separate from the manga adaptation, in conjunction with Industrial Light and Magic.
Ever since the lawsuit got settled, Tsuburaya has gotten more aggressive with their expansion, not that I’m complaining. Good talent here.
Yeah, good on them for promoting the hell out of their shows and holding back little to get their distribution world-wide
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."What lawsuit was that exactly?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Damn that’s a resume.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Oh yeah. Probably why it feels like Tsuburaya is making up for lost time.

Huh. I didn't even know Ultraman had legal red tape going on. Or maybe I did read of it, but must've forgotten.
Anyway…
I can't tell if the animated Netflix movie's aesthetic reminds me of The Incredibles or Into the Spider-Verse.
Regardless, Laika alumni + Gravity Falls/DuckTales alumni + ILM + Ultraman = HOLY CRAP, THIS SOUNDS LIKE BEAUTIFUL MADNESS.
Even moreso when you factor that the last time a Laika alumni tackled CG, we got Bumblebee, which was really great, plus Shannon Tindle came up with Kubo and the Two Strings, and also Industrial Light & Magic hasn't done a full-fledged CG movie since Rango. (Wonder why? Preoccupied with other movies?)
EDIT: Oh. Apparently ILM's last fully animated movie was a collab with Lucasfilm Animation, Strange Magic. That actually makes a lot of sense…

On a similar note, Ultraman has showed nearly double its yearly profits since 2017 fiscal year, primarily on account of the robust international expansion and the lawsuit being settled. It has now surpassed Super Sentai in the profits of the Big 3 Toku properties, but is still behind Kamen Rider. (Also Super Sentai no longer counts Power Rangers after the Hasbro buyout, which has caused that franchise's profits to tumble).
That's good news for Ultraman :D
Trigger is next month right or is it July?
It'll come out on July 10th
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."International expansion is right... I can watch Ultraman, Ultraseven, Ultraman Leo, Ultraman X, Ultraman Geed, Ultraman Orb as well as both Ultra Q franchises free on Tubi plus the CG Ultraman on Netflix and Ultraman Z on youtube. That's more Ultramen then I realized existed a year ago.
It's weird, I used to think Ultraman was basically a household name way back when. I wore out the VHS tapes I had of the cartoons, saw the International Co Production whose name I didn't learn was Ultraman: Towards the Future until recently, had a few comic books... The fact that he's inspired one Ultraman Copy after another always made me assume he was more popular in english-speaking countries then he actually was. Maybe the franchise will actually claim the level of recognition I thought it had.
Bleye knows Sabers.Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga has debuted!
Some observations and thoughts:
- They really are divorcing themselves from relying on Showa timeline Ultras for story beats, so far nothing from the M78 guys has come up or influenced this show's plot and the first kaiju is a fusion of two Neo-Frontier Heisei ones. Sure, next episode has Gymaira but I feel like it'll be worfed by Daramb
- Kind of cool how they introduced the new Yuzare and Giants of Light
- Old guy is definitely a dimension traveler since he knows about Tiga and also predicted Kengo was going to become Trigger's host
- Carmeara can create and control Kaiju like Golba and escaped after using her creation as a meat shield.
- Seems like this season's team rival will be heavily resented against Kengo

"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."I feel like I'm missing a lot since I haven't watched Tiga, but this is still a really nice opening.
God damn do I love the Golba suit. And the Camearra suit. And Camearra in general.
Didn't think we'd get Ultra-Mud Wrestling.
Strong start, that's for sure. Hero's a tad milquetoast though. Doubt he'll end up topping Haruki, who was awesome.
Interesting how it's both a sequel and a remake because parallel dimensions.

Bleye knows Sabers.Huh turns out James Gunn is an Ultraman fan.
Celebrating the 55th anniversary.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
So not only is Sevengar getting a spin-off manga but also a spin-off series in the style of the original Ultra Fight/Redman and a whole TsuPro streaming service: "Tsuburaya Imagination"
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."
