Does Not Illustrate: Fun With Acronyms

The picture on Fun with Acronyms is an incomprehensible squiggle with text describing an acronym for it. The text does all the work, the image adds nothing.

I would suggest something from a comic, like this or that one.

Fun with Acronyms is about getting acronyms to spell funny or meaningful (or not so much) words. 1.1 doesn't do that. 1.2 is much more text than the current. ASCRAC > IRONHEART. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Keep the current. It's not an inconprehensible squiggle, it's a submarine-ish thing.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested, and the suggestions are just text as far as I can tell.

[up] I agree. The image shows a funny acronym, both abbreviated and in full; the caption just supplements it, which is what a caption is supposed to do. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

The description of the current in the OP fits the suggestions in the OP better than the current. Except in those the images aren't even relevant at all, so they're worse.

Would an image of an Self-Deprecation acronym poem be better? Like, an acronym of TVTROPES that blatantly insults the wiki. We could write it, is what I'm suggesting.

[up] We don't really need an image for that, but if you have an idea to use in the description, then by all means, go ahead.

Well, I just meant that it's a textual trope, so the image would be mostly-if-not-all text, I thought. (Plus I'm not familiar enough with the wiki to successfully do that on my own anyway.)

I have no love lost for the current image, but it does illustrate the trope.

Maybe this might help. It's a higher-def version of OP's suggestion. Unfortunately, I don't have time to try editing this anytime soon. [1]

This example from Bob and George is more straight-forward.

[up] I don't think its more clear. It's on par, but I don't think it needs changing.

I know I like it better, mostly because I don't like the current one. However it should definitely include the "Fairly Aimless RPG Talk Show" line below it.

ETA: On second thought, it is objectively better because "Fairly Aimless RPG Talk Show" now only makes a funny acronym (the whole point of the trope) but it also rolls off the tongue without sounding like Word Salad. By the trope's own admission that is the 'best of both worlds'.

[up] Yeah, the only way that makes sense is if we include the title.

I like the Bob And George pic (yes, including its title), it's much better than the current.

The last two panels along with the strip's title could work.

I don't know, do we really need yet another overly wordy comic panel? We've been relying on those too much lately and we could easily find something more straightforward for a trope like this.

Futurama: [1]

A more subtle one from The Simpsons: [2]

And saving the best for last: [3]

If I had the time, I'd search for even more.

I like the Futurama one best because it's a TV show itself. The third is probably my least favourite, actually.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
