Who cares if it's watermelon flavored and I am black, because I so want that.

Double-checking the video where I found this out, you can get it at the Hungry Bear (presumably located in Critter Country).

And they put whipped cream on it. I need this yesterday.

They have frozen lemonade outside of Rhode Island?

Okay so super off-topic but Disneyland apparently has watermelon-flavored frozen lemonade. Why did I not know this?!? I need to try some when I go on my birthday in a couple months.

Make sure to try out Tropical Hideaway in Adventureland as well.

The theming looks absolutely incredible, and you can get a special treat, The Twisted Ambush, which is Pineapple Orange Swirl Dole Whip, topped with Mandarin Oranges and pineapple, shredded coconut, and crystallized Hibiscus, that sounds really good. note

The Tropical Hideaway is the new restaurant between the Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise, right?

Also, I'm not exactly a fan of pineapple, so I'll have to pass.

[up][up] Yeah, it’s where the old Tahitian Terrace, and Aladdin’s Oasis used to be.

If pineapple isn’t your thing, they also have orange Swirl, and Raspberry Dole Whip

They also have steamed bao buns (Spiced Vegetable Bao, Kaffir Lime Chicken Bao, or Bulgogi Beef Bao), and a ramen shaker salad, and it’s own tiki bird! (which is also cool, since Tiki Room was originally intended to be a restaurant, so it's a nice thematic nod to that.)

So has there ever been an explanation for what happened to Andy's father in Toy Story? We never see him, but given Molly is a baby in the first two movies he was obviously alive in the near past and Andy's mom really doesn't seem sad enough to be a recent widow to me.

No official explanation,as far we're concerned he does not exist, though I have heard fan theories he's either dead making her a widow or Andy mother's is divorced

I mean, Doyalist explanation is that the first movie was so revolutionary for CGI that having ANOTHER expensive CGI model that has to combat Uncanny Valley might not be worth it and, by that point, Andy's dad was so out of the picture it was better to just ignore it.

Speaking of Toy Story, I’ve been looking at Hollywood studios new Toy Story Land, on Youtube, and honestly, I wasn’t that impressed.

The story, is that you’ve shrunk down to the size of a toy, and are exploring Andy’s Backyard.

The big ticket attraction (other than Toy Story Mania, which is really fun) is “Slinky Dog Dash”, which is a kid friendly rollercoaster. Here’s the video.

The other attraction here is a dressed up spinning whip ride, called Alien Swirling Saucers.

While the attractions look really fun, and there’s a lot of really cool little details (Andy's Lunchbox is a quick service restaurant, etc), it feels a bit underwhelming. The theming doesn't really strike me as being particularly immersive or consistent, and most of the attractions don’t seem to have much in the way of story or theming beyond the superficial.

From the reviews I’ve seen, apparently there is also not a lot of shade or places to escape the Florida heat and humidity, which is a big oversight, particularly in a land more aimed at kids.

Surprised they don't seem to have a water something or other there too. Lot you could do theme-wise with a coiled up water hose that's been left on. Few plastic toys that spray water and the kids will be a bit better in the heat.

The old Bug's Life land in CA actually had something like that with a sprinkler head or whatever. For shade, I think there were ton of fixtures to stimulate giant blades of grass.

The rides there were lame, though.

I want to mention something interesting I found not long ago, when I was at my local comic convention.

Apparently there are now Funko Pops - yes, I know, I know - of characters from the Disney Doug. You can tell because Patti Mayonnaise has her Disney design (and their logo is on it, too).

One wonders why exactly Disney's chosen to do it for this one show out of all the One Saturday Morning programs. It's not available on streaming or DVD (but then, neither are any of the other One Saturday Morning shows). There's no other merchandise for it either.

The only answer that makes sense, if you ask me, is that they're doing it largely to mooch off of the better-loved, better-written Nickelodeon original.

I'm just wondering why they haven't done Recess yet since that was probably the most beloved out of all the One Staurday Morning shows and one that still has a large following today.

[up]x4 That's actually a really good idea.

What it would look like, would probably depend on how much space they're working with. If they have enough space for it, I could see a larger, heavily themed, splash pad being a nice fit, like the Casey Jr. one in New Fantasyland. If they don't want to dedicate so much room, a simple, giant leaky garden hose water play area would also work.

[up][up][up]I have to ask. Aside from the lack of Billy West, what were the specific reasons people thought Disney's Doug was much worse than the Nickelodeon Doug?

I mean from memory, yeah, the Nickelodeon version was slightly better, but I don't remember Disney's Doug being awful outright. If anything it had some good ideas to improve it like some sense of continuity and having episodes that focused on developing another character (it was actually nice to see a more fallible side of Patti or Connie and the like, instead of all the episodes having it so Doug Can't Get Away with Nuthin').

This list, I think, is a good summary of everything that was wrong with the Disney Doug.

Billy West is no fan of the show, and Jim Jinkins, all these years later, has pretty much come to the idea that the original Nickelodeon Doug was the best.

I think making Roger rich really didn't suit the character and I also found the new teacher to be bland.

I honestly didn't mind the Disney version of Doug, but I wholeheartedly agree that the original Nick version is the better incarnation of Doug (and Billy West is far and away a superior Doug Funnie; there's just no real contest there 😅).

I was at Disney World in December, and got to see the new Toy Story Land. I liked it a lot. Slinky Dog is not what I'd call a kiddie coaster — that's more like Goofy's Barnstormer (Magic Kingdom) or Gadget's Go-Coaster (Disneyland). Slinky Dog is an intermediate ride more like Big Thunder or the Seven Dwarves Mine Train. It's a lot of fun with some good bumps and drops, and by far the longest wait in the park — at least until Galaxy's Edge opens.

I didn't bother with the Aliens spinner ride, which really is a kiddie ride.

Random thoughts: Is this the first new "land" that's actually called "Land"? New Orleans Square, Bear Country, Toontown, and Galaxy's Edge don't use the "Land" name.

Anyone old enough to have watched Gadget on the Disney Afternoon is in their thirties at least. grin

I feel like a lot of the changes stated were more reasonable since they were continuity based changes, they still acknowledged the originals but events caused them to alter, and this had some effect on their characters. Connie slimmed for example, but it gave her a bit of Acquired Situational Narcissism and Roger kinda acted like you would expect an abrasive moron who suddenly got rich to...still an abrasive moron but with dangerously large funds to recklessly spend (I remember some humour from his new ties making him a Sitcom Arch-Nemesis for Bebe as well, making him feel less like a satellite nemesis for Doug). The only real change I thought was kind of jarring was his more stuck up voice, though that was arguably more down to the replacement actor not quite able to replicate West.

These were divisive steps sure, and there were some definite downgrades here and there, but I hear some people talk like the show was a travesty against everything the Nick version stood for. If anything it's one of the few revivals I thought was most trying to recapture the original while still adding its own polish.

[up][up] didn’t a lot of the proposed extensions to Disneyland’s Main Street in the 60s , also get away from the “something-land convention” (International Street, Liberty Street, etc)? Heck, the reason Pirates wasn’t an opening day attraction in Florida, is because of the planned “Thunder Mesa” expansion to Frontierland, that was supposed to have a western themed themed Dark Ride, a runaway mine coaster, and log flume?

And does anyone actually call it Galaxy’s Edge? I usually just see it referred to as Star Wars-Land.
