It was a meh movie overall and really not up to Marvel standard.
@lu127 I might be willing to do this too but I would decide based on the questions and I'd only do pre-recorded calls.

"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."Saw Captain Marvel a week ago and enjoyed it. Average Marvel movie but that Stinger got me excited. I liked it better than Thor 3 or Avengers: Age of Ultron but not as much as Black Panther, Infinity War or Civil War.
Did really like that they showed the Blackbird in the hanger bay, hope that is a hint at the future.
I'm watching through at least part of Star Trek TNG from the start. Still in the first season, which I'd never seen before.
Tasha Yar very quickly became a fascinating character and my personal favorite. Of course, this is a sad Foregone Conclusion.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAh, first season TNG, when they weren't quite sure what they wanted to do yet, so they just dusted off some old original series scripts. Or at least that's how it feels like.
I actually liked Captain Marvel. Thought it was better than Wonder Woman tbh.
The highs weren't as high but the lows weren't as low either. It pretty consistent.
The third act isn't amazing but it's decent. I guess I'd give it a 7.5-8/10.
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."What were your lows of Wonder Woman?
For me, Wonder Woman didn't have a lot of lows, but the biggest one was that it had this large similarity to Captain America: The First Avenger.
Also, all I still have strong memories of that movie's blue tinted, Snyder-vision scenes.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyMy only real beef with Wonder Woman is the bit in the end where she kills the bad guy and is horrified to realize that this doesn't immediately stop the fighting because there's more behind the conflict than just Ares fucking with people...and then when she kills the guy who really is Ares that does immediately stop the fighting. So the only message here is to make sure have the right guy when you try to punch a war away.
Oh right, that too. That absurd belief that it is only because of a god(s) that conflict exists and that everyone would get along without one. History, and basic psychology and sociology, of course proves that notion to be ridiculous. Tribalism, hate, and conflict are a part of our nature even without the influence of a deity.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyOh yeah, that was a big problem. the movie goes out of its way to make the point of how misguided an idea that is, and fully subscribed to it so we can have a climactic hero Vs villain battle.
I mean, the climactic fight itself I have no problem with. It's a superhero movie, we expect a certain level of superhero fight. There just needed to be some kind of denouement that wasn't both sides throwing down their weapons with hearts no longer full of hate, because that goes against both what the movie seemed to be building up to and the fact that the conflict is called World War One. It was very nearly a great ending and they just kind of biffed it for some reason.
Oh Ares still could have worked... just don't have him validate the stupid views that WW held throughout the entire film. Instead of him being behind the war, he could just be an opportunist who found out that she was around and knew that it would lure her in.

hey guys
Hey Saiga are you up on that Devil May Cry 5
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018The entire 3rd act once Ares reveals himself.
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."I still need to get on DMC 4
But alas, first I must do my exams
I wonder to what extent World War 1 was actually called "The War to End All Wars" at the time.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIt was also real weird the way she suddenly developed a moral stance against killing when Ares tried to get her to kill a horrible person to make a rhetorical point, but earlier in the movie, had absolutely no problem people she who she believed to be the innocent victims of mind control.
@saiga: I could have sworn you beat DMC 4 already, huh. Also yeah, school must come first before demons.
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018the real demon is procrastination
and nah, I've played it but can't remember how far I got because I don't own it anymore
Already spoiled myself rotten on DMCV.
...Still wanna play it.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - Fighteer@saiga:I see I see. I hope the time will come and so will you, eventually.
@lu: Kind of in the same boat. I dont have much investment in the series (though i love bayonetta) but my favorite streamers are dmc-fiends, so i basically watched the whole game. shit gets wild in story and gamellay in that game, like wrow.
question for both of you- do you go through the story relaxed and for fun or do you go hard for rankings and the extra difdiculty modes?
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018Man, after watching Last Week Tonight on Wrestling, all I can say is... what a shitshow. Weird how something like that is even allowed.
The health care concern is only one of WWE's many problems behind the scenes. It has its upsides, but they're so few that I was already going to stop watching after Wrestlemania anyway.
Some of those problems are allowed to exist because Americans don't care about workers in industries other than their own, or the well-being of athletes (and other performers) when they aren't actively entertaining.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy
I thought it was perfectly fine. Nothing special, and it shouldnt' have needed to be, but not at all bad.
There were several things I liked, especially concerning one of my favorite Marvel heroes. Certain supporting cast played their roles especially well.
The main thing I disliked, though: Clark Gregg (and Lee Pace) really seemed to be phoning it in.
