- Rename Memetic Outfit to Iconic Outfit.
- Merge Trademark Clothing with it.
- Correct the wicks.

Bump. I found another trope that is pretty much this called Trademark Clothing and it is not thriving at all. It really seems like this should be called Signature Clothing or Signature Outfit and not be a YMMV trope.
Well, if the crowner is ready to be called we can merge them both to Iconic Outfit.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThis needs a moderator to call the crowner.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think this should be YMMV or trivia because it's not a trope! A trope is a convention that is intentionally written into a work of fiction. The description basically says that it's not always intentional: "This can happen even if it's not intended to be embarrassing or funny, but simply a strange fashion choice that is never commented on by anyone else... except fans." The description also basically states that it's an audience reaction: "An outfit that, for whatever reason, sticks in the mind of the audience forever."
"Intentional" is not part of the definition of trope. A pattern in media is not intentional, but is still a trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe home page says that tropes are the "tricks of the trade for writing fiction", which implies that they are intentional.
Yeah, the definitions used around the site are as inconsistent as hell. The policy-relevant definition is the one on trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAt 25:1 I think this can be called.
Ok, we''re gonna do two things here: Rename Memetic Outfit to Iconic Putfit. An objective trope. Also, merge Trademark Clothing into it. It's so un-thriving we'll just do it.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI did the initial moves and record-making. I'll take the wicks as soon as I am done with chemistry.
Someone else will have to do any required description rewriting or example cleanup on Iconic Outfit.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOK, did all the 405 wicks, except for YMMV.One Piece, which apart from being locked needs some complex treatment.
Also, I've found Alternate Costume.
An interesting sidenote: I increasingly end up on pages I alreay edited before.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhich is prime cutlist fodder.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerHow are objective examples supposed to be determined for this cleanup? I can spot a few (and a few that obviously aren't), but I'm at sea with most, particularly in the anime/manga section.
What.
On a side note wholly unrelated to this discussion, what's the current count of TRS threads?

109.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerDuring my rename run, I took examples that talked about fan/audience reaction or looked like it to Memetic Mutation and left the others under Iconic Outfit.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanActually, now that I think about it, I can see a few cases where Alternate Costume might be tropable (mainly video games). But it certainly needs a reworking.
I think that we should cut that page and have anybody YKTTW it if they care.
From what I can tell, this repair is done now.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI sent it to the Cut List.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableNot on Iconic Outfit itself, I think.
What is still to be repaired?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanLike I said, I think the examples still need sorting on Iconic Outfit itself.
Did that too.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
There's also the chance that like Indiana Jones they actually wear a lot of different clothes, but there is one that all the depictions of him have. Brown paints. Off-white shirt. Brown hat. Brown leather jacket optional. No one ever depicts him in a suit even though he wears one at points.
