For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

It was a fairly generic two, so you didn't miss much. The muzak was good, and the special effects sufficiently lame, but it just never delivered.

Irregular crashes got in the way a bit, though. Honestly, I can't remember a night this annoying since when we watched 2019: After the Fall of New York, though I remember Synchtube's shortcomings that night were a lot worse.

Good news and bad news.
Bad news, Synchtube has pretty much been down since late last night to... Now. Right now. Once again, this is being blamed on a DDoS attack, aaaaand... idk, that was reported over 17 hours ago, and recovery now has been THIS fucking slow.
Good news, Synchtube has plans to open source so that anybody can host their own Synchtube server. That may involve a monetary expense (for me, anyway, assuming we'd want to go ahead with such a thing), but the opportunity to finally move out of the DDoS shithole is too damn enticing.

No idea. They don't even mention a cost anywhere in anything they've made public today. I just already figure that "anyone can host/spin up a synchtube server" would cost money... one way or another.
For the record, I'm looking at the Synchtube Twitter feed (The only time I ever look at Twitter is when Synchtube is down for long stretches... and those seem to be the only times they tweet, too) and additional links to here and here.
All this news is fresh from late last night/early morning.

Yeah, it'd make sense from a businessman's point of view to charge users and coders for setting up their own servers. However, they're non-profit, so this may not be the case.
