Going to check out Goddess Creation System next. Xiaxi looks plenty cute, dunno what her boyfriend was talking about. Is it because freckles are an abomination?

Also, it really bugs me that I don't know how to pronounce Chinese names. The translators seem to be having issues as well.

Shishunki Renaissance David-kun

Description: David is a "typical Japanese high school student" who looks exactly like Michelangelo's David statue.

This is basically a comedy in which the main characters are basically famous works of art (the protagonist has a crush o. The main draw of the manga is imho the design of the characters (we have a Venus, a Leda, even a Mona Lisa) and how it constantly recreates famous paintings and statue formations. Honestly no description can do it justice, just have a look for yourself.

This series showed up briefly in US Shonen Jump as a potential "Jump Start" title as Teenage Renaissance David.

Have a feeling that David is the answer of Gintama's departure of Shonen Jump except without parody, replace it with some Renaissance art references and you get the picture (Get it) We'll see if this manga could survive the brutal competition of Jump or not.

Dunno, gag mangas are usually not part of the rankings, and David and JGJ seem to alternate each week between the middle and the end of the TOC. Maybe only one will be kept eventually, though.

Been trying that isekai about the healer girl. The story keeps flirting with being interesting but doesn't seem willing to commit. The Rape King who specifically decided to summon a healthy young virgin is particularly pushing it. Come on, I'm pretty sure those aren't that hard to find, buddy.

Well, got to the end of what's been translated. It's really like the writer went "Hey look at all these interesting things I could write about! But I won't! Next!" every few chapters.

It's a manhua (and was never a novel, near as I can tell), which do have their own namespace. So it'd be at Manhua.Goddess Creation System

Oh and btw... Another obscure mangas that I read:

• Amalgam of Distortion: A cancelled Shonen Jump manga that got axed and the story is about a boy named Rokumichi Kusaba who got experimented by an evil scientist, Sara Warren, from a Dark Organization known as SAI by transforming him into a monster after Rokumichi crashed his body by a train when trying to save a kid. This is an interesting manga and man, the first chapter is dark although not as dark as Chainsaw Man but you get the picture and you could argue that this is Tokyo Ghoul shonen version. Sad to see it got axed early by Jump
• Lan Huang Library: An isekai story about a teacher who ended up becoming a dean of an ancient library called Lang Huan in Ancient China and to increase the reputation of his library, he need to gain more disciples even though he was OP in the first place thanks to the power of the library. Have to admit that the story feels rather formulaic but the art is pretty so I continue this manga tbh

Goddess Creation System? It was mentioned a few pages back. A girl's boyfriend breaks up with her because the story insists that she's ugly, causing her to withdraw into becoming an otaku girl. She gets an online boyfriend and is persuaded to meet offline. They have a wonderful date, they apparently sleep together and the next morning he's posted all about it online with photos of her, causing her to commit suicide. Her dying wish is to become a goddess like she was in the game.

A prayer which is apparently answered by an automated Goddess Creation System, which promises to turn her into a goddess if she can collect ten million charm points, which are also currency to be used to improve her appearance and abilities. She earns points by being attractive, desirable and earning the love of people. If she fails, she'll die. She gets one test run to try to win the love of a young nobleman in (probably) ancient China and gets executed, causing her to have to start over and get everything right this time. No matter what.

It's fascinating to watch her manipulate these people because she just doesn't care about them at all. It's also interesting how her character changes in her desperate attempts to stay alive and also to see the affect she has on the society around her.

Edit: Anyway I'll probably put up a page for it tomorrow. I'm finishing a second read through of what's been released so far.

Edit two: Man, this is all going to collapse around her head any moment now. She's so screwed if the Goddess System doesn't whisk her away after this arc is resolved. There are all these glaring holes in the narrative she's made and it can't possibly stand up to serious scrutiny.

Welp, back to waiting for other interesting series to get brought up here. I'd been thinking that I didn't really like manga anymore but apparently I just don't like the mainstream titles.

@Arha Thanks... Anyways, for interesting series. Think I'll recommend you Alice in Borderland, Amalgam of Distortion and Satoshi Kon's OPUS as a gift for recommending a VN to me

That's kind of why I stuck with it. She's both affecting the society, and the society affects her, but it's not as deliberate as it is for many other characters. It makes her a bit unusual as a protagonist, especially since so many protagonists (and especially with the genre) are white knights. And this, along with the game system, makes it feel more like a game than many other supposedly game-based isekais (which often feel more game-like than like games, if that makes sense).

To Your Eternity, volume 8… boy are things going fast in this volume. ò.Ô While it seemed deliberate in the previous volume, here we jump from one scene to another without much time to breathe, and it can really hurt the page and panel composition at times.

The story and characters, though, are as fascinating as ever. I like the fact that Imm is becoming increasingly overpowered, but every new ability he gets also creates more problems he has to deal with. That, plus his ability to switch bodies bringing some… gender- and sexuality-related issues with other characters. It now really hits me how much of a genius move it was to make the protagonist a shape-shifting immortal. You can do so much with that!

Speaking of gender and sexuality, I was a bit disapointed that Todo was first hinted to be a gay guy but just ended up being a girl in disguise. Feels like a missed opportunity considering the scarcity of gay male characters outside of yaoi (and I mean, non-joke characters). Ah well, the character's still fine, though I'd probably be more inclined to punch Bonshen in the face than serve him if I met the guy.

Started reading The Scholar's Reincarnation. It's about this legendary badass who was (apparently) on this long quest for revenge or something, found his target and then poof, got oneshotted by this buddhist monk guy in a double kill when he was forced to reincarnate. He ends up being born into a noble family and has a really loving family and eventually a cute little sister and is like 'Well, that life of wanton murder and destruction kinda sucked anyway, guess I'll turn over a new leaf.'

It's kinda interesting buuuut it suffers a little from not really knowing what he was like before except the story saying he was a murderer.

Edit: Oh yeah, I was wondering early on why his sister kept calling him Oppa until I finally remembered Gangnam Style.

Takane & Hana, not mentioned here that I know of but one I'd found recently and been meaning to bring up.

About a high school girl named Hana who goes to an arranged marriage meeting in place of her older sister when she refuses to go. She meets the Jerkass grandson of her boss, Takane, in the other side and promptly tells him off for his behavior.

Oddly enough, he seems interested in that and what follows old a series of dates becoming a relationship that features the two teasing and one upping each other, but in a way that comes off fun. Takane is a bit of a Manchild who likes how Hana speaks her mind to him when most others try to suck up.

Mousou Telepathy has been proving fairly fun, but it's one of those series where I just don't really buy the main pairing cause I feel like the MC has more chemistry with her female best friend. I think the author noticed too.
