"Michelangelo, the youngest brother, an artist and awesome skateboarder"
Finally, one of the Turtles named after Renaissance figures will actually be an artist.
Also of note: Raphael is the leader this time. Not Leonardo.

I'm reminded of that rap song from the first live action movie that mistakenly billed Raph as the leader.
You mean the one I just linked to on this page?

So does anyone have any guesses why they switched Raph and Leo's roles? P.S. I actually do like what they say they're doing with Mickey since in the original comic he wrote a novel while most adaptations just make him a catchphrase spewing dolt.
sorry didn't notice it.
I'm not opposed to switching the roles, but it sounds like they switched personalities too.
It's still possible that this is just a typo and Leo is supposed to be the leader.

Seems a bit...overstylized.
Splinter looks high as shit.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I see April's been "diversified".
yeaaa, don't think I'll bother with this.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. The 90s called, they want their everything back.
This song needs more love. And its funny how it's Raph who's front and center and not Leo lol.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Isn't that closer to original Mirage comic April? Or do I remember wrong
Yea, I figured that out after posting that.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Know HOW diversified they wanna be?? Apparently, the turtles will each be a different turtle species. Which now negates any rumor that they will stay brothers. Maybe unofficially. Some of their weapons are changed too, and I think the weapons, included April's BAT... now have mystical auras around them, making me think there's some powerful magic force empowering them.
... I am still hung up over why we need a new version of this after we JUST GOT one that ended!
I have no problem with April (and yes it is closer to the mirage comic) but Splinter just looks ugly and the turtles are too exaggerated.
The press release makes it sound like Raphael and Leonardo have also switched characterizations, too.
Which makes me wonder why they bothered with the leader shakeup when the dynamic will likely almost be the same, just with the names swapped. You might as well make Donatello the goofy prankster and Michelangelo the gadgeteer genius.
I admit I don't mind April's Race Lift, but I hate the character design.

. . . Yeah the all look fucking weird. Might get hate for saying this, but I think even the Michael Bay Turtles with their Shrek faces look more appealing than these designs.
And its not just the Turtles. Splinter looks like a Master Shivu knock off. And April’s design looks weird with the glasses and puffy pigtails; seriously I’ve seen better race lifts of April on Tumblr . . . no seriously, there are and it would make a better design than this.
Also funny how somebody mentioned the 90s, as Ralphael looks like the second mutation forms of the turtles during the red sky season.
Funny story is that I actually kinda liked the designs for the Turtles in the Michael Bay movies, particularly the idea to give them outfits. My problem with the designs are the same as the pre-Age of Extinction Transformers ones, though; their outfits are way too overdesigned, but particularly Donatello, who seems to be wearing a bunch of tech crap that looks more like an impractical hindrance. I think Raphael and Michelangelo went in the right direction (I'd almost call Raph's design perfect), but think Leo should have worn something more like a Ninja gi.
The Shredder in this new one better not turn out to be a man-baby blaming his hangups on others.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your grief
Sounds like that blurb got it's info from this song.
