[up]I doubt very much Jim reads this thread, as cathartic as it would be to get a shoutout. We're kind of niche...which actually suits me just fine. I have no desire to become a meme or some shit anytime soon.

Can you imagine how disturbing it would be to see "Disgusted, but not surprised" plastered all over the internet?

On Blizzard I do wonder if they could make a new IP but are afraid to, remember they made a new IP with Overwatch and had to fight internally to ensure that the loot boxes are only cosmetic. They may just know that any new IP they make will be so overwhelmed with “games as service” bullshit that they’re avoiding making such games.

Imagine having a cool viable idea for a game, just to realise that if you suggest it to your boss it’ll be turned into a loot-box farmer that everyone hates.

Yeah Jim went easy on Acti Blizz on this one.

Supposedly Diablo 4 is in development, just not far along enough to display at the time. Still, they could've just confirmed that it was in development as opposed to not at all, even if they don't have a path to commit with it.
That was just a Kotaku induced rumor that blizz has since denied.

Diablo is as dead as Command And Conquer and Dungeon Keeper.

Question for you guys. There's a sound effect Jim uses in some of his videos when something completely nonsensical happens. It's a jingle from one of those cartoon post-credits stamps that companies put after works they produce/distribute. Sounds like it was made with a kazoo, really silly in nature, I want to say the original stamp featured an egg or some shit, but it was so long ago, I can't remember and wanted to see if you guys did.

This whole thing could've been avoided if Activision Blizzard did what Bethesda did with Fallout 4 and Fallout Shelter

All they did was reskin the game and add some quality-of-life changes to it (including an updated control scheme, as well as the option to go back to the classic scheme to prevent Damn You, Muscle Memory!). I can't call this an Activision game. It's fundamentally different than Activision games of today. This is just an Insomniac game with an Activision skin.

Right... Like shills defending MTX in full-priced games and attempting to justify other video game industry bullshit.

It's bad enough that I'm no longer excited for anything the "Triple-AYYY" video game industry releases nowadays (more so on my platform of choice, PC). But what's worse is that the indie scene doesn't have any games that could scratch my RTS, Hack-and-slash ARPG, and the occasional single-player FPS itch.

[up] Yeah, the indie scene is a haven for Metroidvanias, RPG titles, and that sort of thing. There's very little in the way of what you mentioned.

The upcoming DUSK seems like a really fun FPS. Strategy games are a bit more tricky with programming, so it's mostly done by A/AA devs.

We need a remake of Crash Team Racing on the pronto now.

Though I admit, I'm a bit disappointed that the Colossus level in 2 replaced the silly "Whyy-ayy-ayy-ayy-ayy!" mantra with a "Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-lo-lo!" I kinda like that silliness aspect.

Basically, Fallout 76 is extremely boring. There's no real tangible story or narrative to anything you do, it's a technical disaster even by bethesda standards (frequent framerate dips and freezes, things that spawn out of nowhere, enemies t-posing, texture pop-in and missing textures, etc), you shoot boring ghouls endlessly, the auto-save is bad and doesn't save as it often as it should, the VATS system is just a shitty auto-target system that's disorienting and whose accuracy varies wildly by the second, etc.

It's horrendous.

Is the gun-play still crap?

I swear I could never get into a Fallout game because the combat controls are always so flighty, weightless, & generally hard to aim.

At least with Skyrim its mostly close-combat so I can manage that (though archery is hard of course) but here where there's guns & status effects I can't handle it.

It's basically the same except the mechanic that actually made it tolerable doesn't work. So it's worse.

Enemies t-posing sounds like the best feature. Yeah, I'm a simple man.

I'm still baffled they didn't have Zinemax Online, devs of ESO, to make this game. They're clearly much more experienced at it.
