It's too late for that anyway, as the episode already is out in the wild on official DVD collections. The relevant DVD box will probably see a spike in resale value, as controversial episodes are pretty much a collectible in themselves.
Optimism is a duty.I checked Amazon and it's still available for purchase there.
That's one of my favourite Bart and Lisa episodes too.
Mine too, it was just such a good, sweet episode. One of the high points of the show.
Optimism is a duty.Brooks said it would take time to get the episode off from circulation.
Thankfully, I still have the season three DVD set, so I won't have to worry. Sucks if the show gets an actual HD restoration and the episode isn't given that treatment, though.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherI can understand removing it from tv, but with digital and box sets, you can make a conscious decision to watch or not watch the episode. Granted, Simpsons World does have a live feed IIRC, but just dont put it on the feed.
I guess this means "Do The Bartman" is getting shelved as well.
Have they tried to retcon Grandpa Simpson and Seymour Skinner's war history yet? They're suffering from some major Refugee from Time(particularly Skinner), so maybe they should move Grandpa to Vietnam and Seymour to...I dunno, the Gulf War or something?
I think Grandpa still being a World War II veteran just adds to the humor of the character, really.
Skinner is probably a little too young for the Iraq war, but that would be a fitting one for him, I think. Another thankless war over questionable motives and with an unsatisfying resolution for soldiers to have hangups over.
Optimism is a duty.5x Do we even have an idea how the original episodes were mastered? Although they used cel animation, it's possible it was telecined to 480i and edited on video. A lot of shows did this to save money, even if they did shoot on 35mm film. In that case, there is no HD quality final edit.
That's why producing a true hi-def version of ST:TNG was such a big deal, they had to rescan and re-edit all the original film elements.
Which Iraq War? I assume the first one (the second one is still too recent).

Old. I meant old.
Optimism is a duty.In the mid 90's I spent a lot of time watching the Nickelodeon sitcom, My Brother And Me.
In one episode the main character, Alfie, is coming up with a scheme and his friend Goo tells him "Homer Simpson wouldn't be stupid enough to fall for that!"
Back then I was such a huge Simpson fan that My Brother & Me got a huge laugh from me just for mentioning Homer.
No, Mr. Bunker, "this here" is justiceIs anyone else getting results from Morbotron when they search on Frinkiac right now?
I've tried it on desktop and mobile, either way trying to go to Frinkiac just gets me to Morbotron.
i think i can get on both sites fine.
So is the series's Floating Timeline helping matters since time is always pushing forwards and the show is at its 30th anniversary? Also, what genre would you say the Simpsons is catergorised as? I would say Slice of Life mixed with Mundane Fantastic
In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!The Simpsons is so old that the age of its height has become nostalgic

Optimism is a duty. The Disney/Fox deal closed yesterday. All things Fox (minus news and certain sports channels) are now Disney.

And they paid a whopping 71 BILLION dollars for it, too.
I wonder if this will mean anything for the Simpsons.
Oh, and they bought National Geographic, too. So, now Disney owns nature, too.

Optimism is a duty.Disney has taken over more than Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great combined
Not quite the same thing, they dont armies at their command (yet..)
New theme music also a box
James L. Brooks confirms "Stark Raving Dad" is being pulled from circulation in all media following the Leaving Neverland doc.
On one hand, I think it's the right decision, since they don't want the series to be promoting Michael Jackson anymore. On the other hand, I fear they'll go as far as destroying the master tapes or film prints of the episode to ensure it never resurfaces (as evidenced by his ominous "book burning" analogy). I hope that's a line they won't cross.
