Question: What's currency like? Are we going with the standard fantasy gold/silver/copper pieces or something unique? Is paper money widespread?

If no-one else has ideas, I have a system in mind.

Hello, my good everyone!

So, anybody has been thinking on what they want their people to be doing as we start?

[up] Would like to hear of that system. To the moment I had planned gold, silver, bronze, gemstones and bank notes to serve as currency. I was also toying with the idea of some fantastical substances to serve as even larger denomination coins.

Emi is, obviously, going to be being all charming and conning someone out of something.

Wagner will probably be the one being conned.

I was thinking Alex would be stealing something, or selling something she stole. Or getting ready to spend the next week pretending to be a guy because she screwed up when she was stealing something.

Or something like that. >.>

EL JABALI is engaged in a daily good deed: fixing the leg of a kitten so callously crushed by some mysterious force falling out of a portal!!

And because of our family christmas party being real early, I'll only be on ipod until like 8 or 9 EST.

Elly's probably delivering something, I guess.

Fair warning, I'm going to be a little busy this weekend so my post rate might be a little slow.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I decided on what Elly was short for - Elievra - and made her a Dark Skinned Blond.

I suppose I should've added that Emi is practiced at being charming, it's part of several of her con routines.

I would be very surprised and disappointed if anyone's characters work out Alex's gender straight away if she ends up reverse-trapping...which she probably will.

Also, there was mention of some kind of thieves association, right? Would that mean it's possible that Emi, Alex and/or Alack might know each other to some degree?

Possibly. Alack would probably realize the benefit of cooperating with a select group of people.

It'd be an obvious story hook to have EL JABALI and Big T know each other... Though they can't be old rivals: EL JABALI's a prizefighter, and Thormund's a gladiator, wholly different bloodsports.

They might have the same promoter or have trained some moves together sometime... After all, both gladatorial arts and wrestling involve melee combat.

Lakan will probably be causing or preventing mischief...or maybe both at the same time.

Not sure what I'll have him do specifically...

Some stuff I should probably have added to Emi's profile, and probably will:

Emi's biggest con was tricking a greedy noble into buying a glass ring for a couple thousand of whatever the currency is. She managed to blow it all over a few weeks.

Emi, like the rest of her race, doesn't do too well in the direct sunlight. She burns pretty easily.

Emi's an immature member of a race that considers 4'8 to be tall. She's only 3'3.

And I should've probably just added that all to her bio, but whatever.

I kinda forgot a key detail about Amairei. As in how her wings are her primary defense, functioning as shields. >.>

Alright, all those details are good... though maybe I would take a zero or two out of the sum that Anno said.

Also! There will also be a Skype conversation for quick discussions and such. Should you have Skype and wish to join in, you may post your skype name here and you shall be added.

EDIT: Nevermind, here's my idea:

The most basic coin is a trim. This is a small triangular coin made of silver. The next one up is the hext, a hexagonal gold coin worth three trims. The next up is the mark, a small, purple bill worth three hextim (the rough equivalent to three USD). For larger transactions, there are five-mark and ten-mark denominations, and for larger transactions still ingots of jade or diamond are used.

This is a system I was planning to use for a story once that I gave up on. Hopefully we'll have use for it.

Hmmm sounds very interesting... though I do worry that it doesn't seem to handle large transactions very well. Ingots are a tad unwieldy and through Hercine massive amounts of money pass everyday.

Still, on other news we have that the RP has started.

Jump in everyone.
