Eclipse of the Gods

Inside one of the remaining cacoons a figure stirred.

And he cried out in a loud voice Lazarus COME FORTH.

Eyes opened, a quick glance firmly put his position into context.

A hand reached up and in a single motion tore the wires from off the various places on his body.

And Lazarus Did arise from the grave.

his hand touched his face, brushed it and felt the distinction between metal and flesh. Meanwhile the surface of the cacoon began to spike with green crystals and strange looking pods of liquid.

The hand drew back on command...how strange......this is certainly unexpected.

"If you are dead," said Akuma, "then what keeps you walking among the living? Power? Revenge? Will?"

Inside the cacoon the figure looked round himself.

The pulsing innards of the cacoon stared back.

Hands once again were commanded to lift themselves, black robes as of a priest, nay, a high priest wove themselves into his garments, long sleeves hung off his arms.

On his left right hand there was a ring of gold, platinum and tiberium, posing a triangular surfave on which was engraved with skill the poised tail of a black scorpion.

Peace

Instinctively the man's hand went for his belt, there he found what may be an answer to his freedom from within these strange walls.

Through

The hand produced from the folds a slender piece of deadly technology, the hand aimed at the wall opposite, a finger moved to the trigger.

Power

The cacoon was sliced open by a beam of superconsentrated light, and a figure stepped out from the burning wound of the cacoon.

The man was of meduim tall height, wore a black suit that hung down like a robe to his thighs and held in his hand a laser pistol.

Kane had risen.

Where. am. I?

Europa

As the two quirky warring groups disappeared through to places unknown, the group of villains stood in the dark subaquatic ruins, as the body of a god who once saw a burgeoning race as his children, his progeny, twitched in a mindless spasm of death and died. He did not die like material creatures- his body slowly faded away, the purple mass becoing steadily more indistinct as the last breath of life faded from his body, disappearing.

As they did so, a shadowy portal opened. Through the dark haze that suddenly clouded the chamber, the group would be able to make out the enormous tower from which they had departed from, and the faint but undeniable mental presence of their enigmatic employer.

"Aye," said Karrag to Sauron. The Lich looked around, his helmet turning hither and thither. He laid the Hammer's head on his armoured shoulder, then swam toward and into the portal.

Dragovich stepped out of the portal and removed his mask.
"You are all insane. And I have met insane people beforehand. I knew a man who killed his own sister for me and derived pleasure from other's pain. I have also met a who slaughtered a respectable percentage of the Vietnamese and Russian armies to kill me and two others! You outstrip them by far!"

Daido too stepped out of the portal. "Everyone's a devil, Dragovich. Why else were we hired by these guys?" Daido said.

"I don't care if you consider yourself a villain in the story of life. Whatever pleases you. But I do care if you endanger our lives in your insane stupidity!"

Blackbeard stepped out of the portal behind them.

"Zehahaha! General, you're overreacting," he wryly commented on the squabble. "Half of those guys were eager to fight on their own and dragged everybody else in too."

"One. One assaulted us without provocation. And he was ostracized for doing so! Surely we will miss... whatever his name was, but that is no reason for your actions!"

"Lighten up. Life is a game, it is survival." Daido said to Dragovich.

Cease your whining, tiny creature. If the idea of defeating enemies disgusts you, there is no place for you here.

The pirate continued in a laid back tone.
"And another one charged me later. Then there was the robot with his ridiculous explosives. And the fire guy. Seriously, they had as much loose cannons as we did. Double up on the retaliations and we get what we had."

Dragovich just placed his head in hs hands, stepped onto the elevator and began ascending towards their mysterious employer.

"My my, I can just feel the LOVE in the air!" Joker said as Dragovitch made his complaints about the group's conduct. The clown followed the Russian up onto the elevator and wrapped his arm around him. "Oh, but cheer up my Commie Comrade!" the supervillain said to terrorist. "While you are surround by a bunch of fight happy, homicidal psychopaths, at least I'm the only one among who was medically proven to be insane! HA HA HA HUH HUH!!"

A beat.

"By the way, I should REALLY tell you the story of the one time I manage to take complete control of the insane asylum I'm usually incarcerated in and then used it as my evil lair," Joker continued. "It'll KILL YA!! Not literally of course."

On the other side of the portal, Mateus ignored the ranting about how some of them were insane; it was true, yes, but insane people could be as useful as anything else, if handled appropriately.

Blackbeard also followed onto the elevator.
"Zehahaha! That sure sounds like you had some fun times, Joker."

"Oh you have no IDEA big guy!" Joker said to the pirate. "I did everything! From flipping off boxes of kittens and stealing the report cards off school children to putting neurotoxin inside soup kitchen entrees and crippling the family members of beloved public figures! Every achievement a real laugh riot! HUH HUH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!"

A beat.

"But then every time I'm onna roll, someone kinda goody-two shoes superhero arrives to ruin my fun," the clown, his expression suddenly souring. "Most of the time I always end up getting beat up by......someone......I can't remember who, but I think it has something to do with bats. Goddamn rabid rats with wings......"

The first thing the group would see upon re-entering the dark obsidian tower from whch they had set out was a corpse. The next thing that they would see were dozens of other body parts and corpses, splattered messily across the walls and floor. The body parts were, for the more squeamish of the groups, fortunately not procured from their counterparts- the skin was altogether wrong, dark, spiny, and pebbbly. Glowering decaptiated heads leered at them from the walls.

"   I...apologize... for the decor...   ," was all that the voice said by way of explanation, even as the lift appeared before them with a faint hiss and whir. "   We had... difficulties... with the natives.   "

Optimus Prime, chained onto his enormous chair, glowered at them with one enormous red eye as they shot past, up towards the top of the tower. T He body parts and bloodstains tapered off the further up they went, before disappearing entirely after a few minutes of ascent. At the very top of the tower, the presence loomed again.

"   Greetings. Your performance was... adequate. You fared better than the last group, at least. And, as I have promised before, you will receieve your rewards.   "

Daido soon saw the corpses and smiled. "Uh, excuse me, creepy guy? Can I take these corpses? I want to experiment on them and all that." Daido said.

"Wow, must've been some party that we missed!" the Joker said, commenting on the dead bodies. "Pity none of them looks like that Master fellow. It would have been very convenient for me!" Then the mysterious voice mentioned a reward. "OOOOOO, what kind of reward?" the clown, rubbing his hands in anticipation. "Cash? Jewels? Precious metals? Electronics? A brand new car? A kitchen makeover?!" A beat. "Left some of these pitiful aliens still breathing for us to kill........?"

He then looked to Daido with a disgusted expression. "Experiment? EW, what's wrong with you?!" Joker said to the undead rider. "I have a laundry list of fetishes myself, but I draw the LINE at necrophilia, good sir!"

"As in use a serum on them." Daido said after chuckling.

"Oh," Joker responded to Daido. "In THAT case, nevermind then!" A beat. "Just as long as that serum doesn't have sperm in it! HUH HUH!"

-Ignoring the tiny creatures' bantering, the Crypt Lord sets to work, raising carrion beetles from the smaller corpses, then starting to eat the larger ones.-

Dragovich, devoid of a wall to bash his head on, or to bash everyone else's heads on (A preferable, but unlikely alternative), merely placed his face in his palms.
