This thread's for all of the X-Men comics and spin-offs (X-Force, X-Factor, New Mutants etc.), whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate X-Men, X-Men 2099, X-Men "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- X-Men 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Wolverine, Deadpool, Ms. Marvel and Cable.
- Characters and comics that originated in X-Men and its related books but are no longer connected to the franchise are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their X-Men related stories here.
Discussions that are only about X-Men adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
I have to say that the X Men franchise has been going on for decades. Maybe not as many as the Superman franchise has, but it still has quite a number to it.
One thing I am certain of is that the franchise seems to be subverting Status Quo Is God in recent years. Magneto and Professor Xavier seem to be fading into the background, with Cyclops and Wolverine taking their places. A lot of villains associated to the X-Men have been killed off and have actually stayed dead so far.
All this gives me the general impression that the franchise is trying to reinvent itself. Do you think that's what's going on here?

Angel: I have to say, Kate, I don't approve of you using the Marauders name.
Kate: I'm gonna be honest, most days I can barely remember your name. So why don't you just fly on outta here, Walter?
Angel: My name's Warren.
Kate: It'll be Whiskey-bottle-to-the-face if you don't back off.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Poor Warren Whitebread Worthington, no one’s favorite X-Man unless maybe he’s blue and metallic.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Shit I stopped liking him when he started dating X-23.
He was a terrible & boring boyfriend.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I love how your version of Kate is just drunk Buffy.
Makes sense, since Buffy is Kitty. But also, Kate totally handles her booze better than Buffy apparently does.
I'd actually love it if she just started routinely taking swigs from various liquors. Whiskey, rum, whatever's handy. Really lean into the pirate attitude the way she did in this issue.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I mean, Kitty basically becomes Buffy once she starts kicking ass and wisecracking.
I mean, Joss Whedon wrote both. I think he sorta brought Kitty back to the X-Men after she’d been doing other stuff for a while.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Joss based Buffy off of Kitty. And then when he wrote Astonishing X-Men, he brought Kitty back and made her a main character again and wrote her pretty much like Buffy.
None of this is a bad thing, by the way.

I know. That's why I loved it in Astonishing X-Men and i love it here too.
Preview of Excalibur #1. It looks awesome.
I was looking at Marauders #1 and I was surprised to see it include the dossier format despite it not being written by Johnathan Hickman. Guess they really want the X-Books to feel connected.
I'm wondering how other heroes will play into the X-books now?
I don't know if their relationship with the Avengers is all that good right now for instance, even after Uncanny Avengers.
One Strip! One Strip!Duggan's data pages, on the other hand, are jokes. One is literally "Logan's Shopping List." And it includes pomade for his hair.
The Excalibur preview showed that Brian Braddock (Betsy's brother) was a-okay with Krakoa, probably because his sister and his wife are mutants (and his daughter is one, too, I guess?).
Wait so is Brian the only person in his family who is not a Mutant?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Apparently. His powers have come from....something else for a long time now.
I'm pretty sure Brian, similar to Corsair would be one of the few humans openly welcome on Krakoa. He's been a long time X-men Ally.
One Strip! One Strip!I think so, yeah. His brother Jamie and his sister Betsy are both mutants (Jamie is an Omega-level mutant who can warp reality), while Meggan is an empathic shapeshifting mutant.
Definitely. And remember, Brian was also the leader of Excalibur for a long time, a team that was made up of mostly mutants. (...actually, I think Brian was the only non-mutant on that team, now that Moira has been revealed to be a mutant.)
Edited by alliterator on Oct 24th 2019 at 9:17:45 AM
Oh right. Jamie is really powerful.
But if the conversation between Betsy and Brian is anything to go by, he isn't among the revived mutants on Krakoa.
Perhaps, he was left off the list due to his instability. I've only ever read one comic about him, but he was always a bit nutters from what I understand.
One Strip! One Strip!Jamie Braddock is listed among the Omega-Level mutants, but his affiliation is listed as "none." And unlike Exodus (whose affiliation is also listed as "none"), he doesn't show up at the end and accept Xavier's invitation.
Which means, of the three reality manipulators, Krakoa only has access to one (Proteus).

Charles: Mystique...why!? Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
Mystique: Honestly, just because it was expected at this point. If I didn't betray you by the end it'd almost be a let down!
I love how Mr Sinister has such an ego he has a mini-civilization of Mr Sinisters. Even Zamasu only teamed up with one other Zamasu
We've got another book: Giant-Sized X-Men, a series of one-shots by Jonathan Hickman and rotating artists, beginning with Giant-Sized X-Men: Jean Grey & Emma Frost #1 drawn by Russell Dauterman. First issue comes out in February 2020.

And Chip Zdarsky will pen X-Men/Fantastic Four
Yay! I loved Zdarsky's Two-in-One series and I wished he was the one writing FF instead of Dan Slott, so this is great! And it's taking a look at how Franklin Richards will fit in with Krakoa, so it looks like it's pretty central, too. Sweet.

I’m always down for more stuff from the Z-man.
I too loved Logan’s shopping list. Part of me thinks the pomade is meant to imply that his ridiculous hair is secretly something he styles himself, and not how his hair naturally stands up.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]
Nice to have you back Pyro.
So for as long as this lasts, there are no more mutant Supervillains I guess.
At least until Poxy, Fab Sinister, and Sudden, Inevitable Betrayal Bitch decide to drop their respective acts.
By the way, I hope Kitty considered how Angel and Gambit might feel about her using that name. They might have some past issues with the Marauders and all that.
One Strip! One Strip!
