I could be wrong, but I've always considered Sailor Moon the trope codifier for Magical Girl teams. Prior to it, most magical girls were solo acts. Nowadays it's near impossible to find a Magical Girl work without a team. Even Madoka has retroactively become a team series.
A good portion of what makes the series fun is the team dynamic. My favorite dynamic is anime!Rei and Usagi. In my opinion, Rei just works better as a Hot-Blooded foil to Usagi.
Apparently Wedding Peach was the Trope Codifier, though I'm unsure how true that is.
The Protomen enhanced my life. So, I'm going to binge on Sailor Moon on Hulu for this month. I'm already on the fifth episode.
1. You know, tuxedo Mask is a really hilarious plot device. He comes in, throws a rose, gives moral support, and leaves with clockwork efficiency. Every. Time.
Which is probably good because I'm not getting the impression he can contribute to the fight any more then that.
How does he even know where to find her every time? Is he stalking her?
2. So, Usagi and Jadeite's first contact with one another...
O.K, usually when the protagonist and the main enforcer of the villain meet for the first time, it's to show the capabilities of the main enforcer and how the hero, as of this moment, can not beat them. Because what tension is there when your opponent is weaker then you?
Now, Jadeite stomps on Usagi with ease- a little too much ease. He stops her Moon tiara Attack and blocks her kick with a barrier. At that point, Jadeite then calmly walks right over to her, probably intending to drain of her energy or snap her neck and move on, as she's on her bum, petrified, not even trying to run from him.
While he's shown himself as stronger then Usagi, it's not really to his benefit as a villain because Usagi comes off as really weak. While he's stronger in comparison, it's not a good comparison when his opponent performed so poorly.
It's also not helped with why he actually fled. A rose got chucked at his feet and I guess that's his cue because he leaves almost immediately through a dark portal.
It's good he was afraid of flowers because I'm pretty the next, last trick in tuxedo Mask's bag would have been "moral support" and I'm not sure that would have helped.
So, yes, first contact and nobody looked very good in that moment.
I'm still going to keep watching, though.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. It's a 90s, heavily Sentai-inspired magical girl show that loves its formula. You kinda learn to roll with all the camp, regardless of dub.
I love you man.
And yes, but dont worry. In a few episodes the show will gel and improve A LOT!
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Hey I’m not the only one who randomly decided to start binging this show lol. ^^ I really love it so far (on episode 16 now I think?). It’s almost impressive how much Rei and Ami being introduced alone kind of heightens the show, like I was enjoying it before but even just the early team dynamic adds a lot. ^^
I’m rambling sorry.
I should binge watch the show one day. It's fantastically amazing. :) And I miss it. :(
I like to keep my audience riveted. If you've not seen it already, the redub's a nice excuse as any to binge. Seeing the cast grow into their characters is quite something, especially by the time of Crystal. I maintain Crystal's dub is one of the best parts about it, just because of their prier experience and now basically playing different versions of their characters.
After the romantic cruise episode (S 1 E 12), I found a new ship for me: Rei x Ami, all the way!
I mean, the two went on a romantic cruise with one another! How much shippier can you get?

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Yay I’m not the only one that thought that! :p
I’m on episode 20 currently, and honestly any combination of Usagi, Rei and Ami has more chemistry then Usagi and Tuxedo Mask Lol.
At that point in time Usagi, Ami, and Rei are full-fledged developed main characters while Tuxedo Mask is ah, not.
I find Mamoru was at his best in PGSM. Any other series I just did not care about the guy.
Oissu!Which one do you think makes the best introductory speeches: Sailor Moon or Tuxedo Mask?
I like to keep my audience riveted.Usagi's bar none.
Ami x Mako all the way you heathen!
You realise of course, this means war! /Bugs Bunny
Rei/Usagi and Ami/Makoto are my favorite, but admittedly any Senshi can be paired with any other. They all just get along so well.
Poly shipping fics with the girls are shockingly in-character most of the time. Everyone gets along so well it makes more sense than you'd think, especially post-series.
If only Usagi ditched Mamoru for Seiya.
Macron's notesThat would cause time to fall apart and Chibi Moon would never be born....
Watch SymphogearIt doesn't help that the first anime didn't really handle the character of Mamoru very well. There was even a rumor that the director of the anime Kunihiko Ikuhara hated the character. That's how bad it was.
Disgusted, but not surprisedWhich is why I opt for Mamoru/Usagi/Rei and Mamoru/Usagi/Seiya instead of breaking up Mamoru and Usagi.
Usagi's the kind of all-loving girl I could see her working with a nonmonogamous relationship, provided she's not in any danger of "losing" Mamo to anyone. Because she can be pretty jealous when she wants to be.
Yeah it is. It's a shame that that particular anvil gets punched back up. A lot of people are all like "When I have a bad habit, it's a delightful little quirk. When you have a bad habit, it's an atrocity."
I like to keep my audience riveted.
