Sounds cool!
On the subject of autism and media, I actually found this really good Pokémon fan fic called Pokemon: A Marvelous Journey, and it stars an autistic kid going on a journey around the region with her Pokemon and new friends. I discovered it a while ago, and I've been obsessed with it since. It's super good! I've even been expanding its trope page and adding stuff to it. Now, do be warned, the early chapters are rather rough and not that nuanced, among other flaws the fic has, which the authoress does admit, but the fan fic itself is still really good! She also mentioned that she's autistic as well, and the work she's put into the fic and the main character really shows!
Hey. I'm diagnosed Aspergers, ADD. It is so weird to be using these "credentials".
Anyone here every done something really awkward, embarrassed themselves completely, and not get why until 5 min to 3 hours later... and you're just like... oh. And mortified? Every single time I've humiliated myself personally, kinda sticks in my head. Not a recent event for me (yay!) but yeah.
Currently in middle of Inuyasha, Bleach, and too many KdramasI'm on the autism spectrum.
If there were shirts you could wear that had autism-related slogans, or which had something written on them that you could use as a conversation starter (like, explaining what your shirt means), what would they be like?
One idea I had was something like, "Did blue puzzle pieces explain to you that [autism symptom explanation]? I thought not." Though if it's way too long (like, what would the explanation be and how would it be written?), people wouldn't read it, or they'd have to get close to read it, which some people would find uncomfortable.
I've discovered that I really like tight, closed spaces; I find them comforting. Anyone else?
Hey. I've been a sporadic lurker on this thread and (more so) on its on-topic discussions counterpart for some time now. Full disclosure: I was diagnosed with Asperger's at age nine and my family knew I had something since age 4.
I've generally avoided posting in discussion threads about real-world stuff since my opinions can be rather... vehement. I'd been thinking about at least making an introduction and after some encouragement offline, here I am.
Cool, we need more rebels here. Welcome 😀 !
Sorry for any inconvenience I've caused by ever writing here.Who here loves thunderstorms?
Or to be weirder and more stereotypically autistic, who here loves rain?
I like both, but I'm of the mentality that if we're gonna get a lot of extreme weather (cold, heat, rain), might as well give me a show. Don't just rain; give me a thunderstorm! If it's cold, then frigging snow already so I get something to look at!
I mean...
I like rain, but it's more along the lines of "I hate the Texas heat, and rain is something different."
I do miss the snow though. Growing up in a region where snow was a yearly ritual will do that to you.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot. This time of year, I'd much rather have snow (which we've had for a day or two now, but I don't expect to last long).
I hate rain, or specifically being outside in it - the only rain I'm fine with is light rain during a hot day, which can be refreshing. Otherwise, nope. Part of it might be growing up in a rainy place where I too many times had to go home cold and wet from school, often with too much wind to use an umbrella...
"Leftover items still have value!"Knowing me, I'm pretty ashamed I haven't caught wind on this thread earlier.
Confirmed to be in the spectrum. I find myself to be like Mashiro Shiina a lot.
In addition the fact that my favorite character has ice powers, I also love snow and ice because they're good stims. I love the sound that ice makes when you step on it.
Also, while I dislike the feeling of being rained on for the most part, I really like running through the rain (which is odd, because I normally hate running). It's exhilarating.

I'm new to this thread. I've been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.
[edited because I suddenly changed my mind about having all of this out here]

I'm joining the party.
My damn OCD is giving me a hell of a rollercoaster week.
And it just had to give me another bout at the start of my final year of university.
hello new person!!
ppppppppfeiufiofuiorjfadkfbnjkdflaosigjbkghuiafjkldjnbaghkdI'm not super new to posting in the forums and have been a long time lurker.
I've been diagnosed with ADHD, but the last psychiatrist I visited seem pretty convinced that I have Asperger's.
Don't know who's right or if one can have both.
Greetings, folks. I was diagnosed with autism at 14. The general consensus among my family was “that explains a lot.”
The party of the first part shall be known in this contract as the party of the first part. You can have both. My little brother does, and so do I (albeit, my pairing is with OCD and Asperger's, not ADHD).
I've realised that due to face-blindness and a lifetime of avoiding looking at people's faces, I don't work out emotions by facial expression but by vocal tone.
As in, I'm much more likely to say someone "sounds" angry or happy or sad than to say they "look" it.
Everybody's all "Jerry's old and feeble" till they see him run down a skyscraper and hijack a helicopter mid-flight.Even without naming names, that's erring on the side of drama importation/rudeness/just plain not advisable.
Does anybody else here struggle with executive function? I have the hardest time getting myself to do something else because I get quite absorbed in whatever I'm doing. I wish I could be properly motivated to do adult stuff.
All the time, not only do I get distracted by all kinds of other stuff but it can be hard to properly motivate myself to do stuff...
"Leftover items still have value!"
Yeah!
I decided to search if there was also a male MMA fighter with autism, and I found there's one as well.
He can get obsessed with exercise to the point where he's unaware he's been exercising for hours.
Both autistic MMA fighters are open about their diagnosis, and Serena DeJesus teaches MMA to autistic kids as well.
