General Digimon Topic

So I just had a thought. Does the fact that both Angewomon and Ladydevimon have slapping attacks in their profiles (Holy slap and slap respectively) make their Designated Girl Fight in both Adventure and Adventure02 an Ascended Meme? Or does it count as something else.

...Has anyone else noticed that Dukemon's name is kinda punny when you think about it? I mean, he is the true mega form of the Digital Hazard, thus making him Duke(mon) of Hazard.

Probably because when we dropped the atomic bombs on hiroshima and Nagasaki, we helped rebuild japan in our western image. If it wsn't for thagt, Japan would of never discovered our comic books and never would of anyone of been inspired to makee manga in japan in the first place.

I also noticed that Digimon is one of thee rare series in Japan that avoids the Nuclear Weapons Taboo.

The plot of the second movie had Diablomon try and kill the chosen children by droping an ICBM on their heads and Skull Greymon's japanese name for the attack Dark Shot is actually known as Ground Zero.

I've only been a fan of Digimon for about a year. Wasn't into virtual pets and most mon games make me want to play Pokemon instead but I have liked the two comics and (some)cartoons so far. To the point, fandom seems to hate English names but I usually prefer them. Skullgreymon is one point of contention, fans talk about censorship but I think they just changed it to "dark shot" because it was a more appropriate name as that attack doesn't behave like a nuclear warhead would(note they keep they don't deny when the real nukes get used). No one seems to care about the more obvious "saki breath" to "inferno blast".

Besides that I still prefer English Tamers. More, I think Tamers was at it's best when it was being a goofy kids show about beer drinking snakes and bickering old folks.

I also prefer the English terms. Don't see why anyone would have a problem with them.

Ya know those Tamagotchi style digivice toys from around 10 years ago? Do they still make those?

In Japan they still do. (The most recent one being the Xros Loader).

Haven't seen one but I don't look for them as virtual pets aren't my thing. I'd be willing to bet Digimon's are of the No Export for You variety but maybe their in your region. Got toy stores?

That looks pretty awesome. I always felt there was greater potential in Digimon that Pokemon simply due to how the digimon aren't limited in what they evolve into.

Plus the fact that it's had more of a story beyond To Be a Master for some time. Something that Pokemon is only beginning to explore.

Dukes of Hazard(mon)...I can't believe I didn't get that one. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason in the renames. The attack names are usually better,(Tensegrity shield was much better than Tense Great Shield) the monsters not so much.(Omega to Omni?)

Unless you count Digimon NEXT not really.

Exactly. In fact, in the rare instance where that seems to be the case, something more important happens and it becomes clear that the Real plot is about to start.

This happened in both Digimon Next and Digimon World 3.

What's Digimon NEXT?

A manga released around the same time as Savers.

It has the only digital program besides Yggdrasil that isn't a digimon.

D-Reaper?

There are loads of digital things that aren't Digimon. Have a list (click "Digital Creatures").

NEO Is probably one of the most powerful, even more so than Yggdrasil.

I can't tell from this trailer if it's a "remade/new" Digimon World.

I thought the D-Reaper was pretty awesome. It had it's own Non-Digimon Mons.

Sorry for the double post, but i don;t want this thread to be forgotten

So I was thinking of watching some of the seasons that i haven't seen. I'm going to skip season 4 cause i saw some of it and didn't really want to watch it after the seeing the end, but then there's Savers and Xros Wars. Should I watch Savers first or Xros? I'm kind of wanting to watch Xros cause it's more current, but i've always disliked watching things out of order, unless it's on purpose (I'm looking at you Haruhi).

Also what ever happened about that new Digimon game?

Oh cool, a Digimon thread! I really loved the first three entries, not that I hated the frontiers or anything. Ah, nostalgia. It really was genuinely cool at times, like whenever the ultimate level digimons (you know, Wargreymon and such?) showed up. Man, good times.

Might as well watch Data Squad/Savers first. I don't know if Xros has finished yet since it's not on Youtube any more, but it probably will be by the time you watch through season 5.

Plus S5 is great.
