In a state of extreme polarization, people are afraid of anything or anyone that they think might undermine the political standing of their in-group. It makes them turn against each other amid accusation of not being enough of a member.

Plenty of minority groups strongly dislike members of their community marrying outside of their race from commentary. It's also an issue (for different reasons) with the idea of couples adopting children outside of their race.

Evidence seems to say "yes".

It's usually the result of internal Entitled to Have You than leftism, although they frequently disguise it as such. "Hoteps" as they're called are notorious among mainstream black culture for being posturing MR As exploiting black nationalism to encourage black women to sleep with them, and I remember Mike Colter discussing some nasty comments he and his white wife received from black women who accused him of not respecting them enough to marry one of them, even though he met her at acting school before he got famous.

Though yes there are leftists who argue that it's bad from a position of principle, and that marrying the oppressor is a betrayal of POC solidarity and a form of selling out a la Malinche.

I was complaining about the latter, which I just think is straight up Dumb.

In the other side, I'm Latino, we're sometimes seen as POC White worshipping traitors (that the white worship is true don't help), so I don't know if I have the total right to speak about it.

Well, they definitely exist, but most of the time it's the former, because the Entitled to Have You attitude that gives us Where da White Women At? exists in some form amongst all ethnicities. We Asians have plenty of problems with that too and the belief that marrying white makes you shallow (if male) or a traitor (if female).

ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE TIME:

One of the first encounters I had with this was when I was watching Firefly and a review site I very much enjoyed for its reviews went on a lengthy hate-filled diatribe against the show that went on for pages because of Wash and Zoe. It was by a black woman and basically amounted to the fact the writer could not conceive of a non-racist black woman and white man relationship.

It was a Berserk Button for her.

I’ve heard people claim that New York’s new abortion bill ends protections for infants who survive botched abortions. Can anyone confirm or deny this? It sounds false to me, but a Google search didn’t turn up anything.

Yes. The R.H.A. repeals section 4164 of New York’s public health law. That section had provided that abortions after the 12th week of pregnancy had to be performed in a hospital, and that for abortions after 20 weeks a separate physician had to be on hand to provide medical care for any infant born alive during the procedure.

Before I criticize, what's the rationale behind that?

Behind repealing that section? Having to do it at a hospital or with another doctor present for what is frankly a rare situation makes abortions that fall under those circumstances more expensive and harder to get.

@Alley Oop: Hoteps are kind of an outlier in these discussions. The bigger problem is that the increasing polarization of society is leading to an increased sense of tribalism and Pretender Diss -ism.

Ironically, that's reinforcing privilege even more; white cismales can not give a shit about their "tribe" without being judged, while minorities can expect to get crapped on for "selling out."

In other news, a flight attendant union is threatening to strike if the government shuts down again.
