Death Note is correct and makes sense if you know the series, but I agree it could be written clearer by someone who knows the series better than I do. Or at least the text should be copied from the Hollywood Spelling page.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThe problem with the name is that it's a bad snowclone. Other tropes like Hollywood Physics are incorrect physics as used in Hollywood. This trope is completely unrelated to that. So I agree with the rename (also, it has only 25 wicks anyway, so this doesn't seem to be a very strong page).
...how about Always Spelled Correctly as a name?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!(I come from a family whose last name involves the German 'tsch' sound — equivalent to the English 'ch' or 'tch' — and we are always asked how to spell and/or pronounce it. It's almost an in-joke that if someone can spell/pronounce it right on the first try it means they're either family, friend, or know a bit about German.)

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I'm not sure Death Note counts. In the first episode, there's a sheet full of alternate spellings of one dudes names. It doesn't really show up later though, so if you want to count it as both using and averting, or some variant of Conservation of Detail is up to you.
Fight smart, not fair.Well, it applies more to foreign names, like Raye Penber, and Rally. Does that still count?
I don't think they ever showed it. I think he actually got ahold of one guys ID and had him write the names down.
Fight smart, not fair.Bumping, as the trope name's completely unindicative.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanHowsabout Spelled Right Every Time?
[The rest was unintelligible.]There is now a single proposition rename crowner for this trope here.
This title has brought 88 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.
I think a rename is called for given how non-indicative the current name is and because Hollywood Spelling may suggest the "overly original" spellings of names that johnnye mentioned.

Crowner has been called.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWith 8 total votes? No way.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyIf we don't have enough votes we could always re-open the crowner.

Should we holler to reopen the crowner, or start looking for alternative titles?
How about a new crowner with a list of names to choose from, and also an option for "keep the name the same" in case there really are people who disagreed with the first crowner.
Good idea. Implemented here.
Crowner hooked.
But I'll need to ask the other mods about the "don't rename" option.
I didn't write any of that.Mod Hat ON>
"Don't rename"/"Keep the old name" is not a valid option on an Alternative Titles crowner. That question is what the Single Prop or Page Action crowner was for.
The rename or not crowner was open from the beginning of November (November 1) til the middle of the following January (January 17th). You had nearly three months to vote.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'm going to call No Consensus on this. The rename crowner never got more than eight total votes in 3 months.
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty
Crown Description:
The name Hollywood Spelling doeesn't tell you much about the trope, but the first thing it makes me (and evidently at least a few other people) think of is people who spell their names in pretentious or overly original ways, which is closer to either My Nayme Is or Spell My Name With An S.
It's meant to be about people on TV never giving the spelling of their names (which seems like a case of Nobody Poops, and most of the examples are aversions anyway).
Brian Regan: Looks like My Nayme Is. Which is also listed on the same page...
Britney Spears: Spell My Name With An S
Death Note: Not described
Embarrassing Middle Name: Correct
Greek: One looks like My Nayme Is, the other is a character spelling out her unusual name, so correct.
Heavy Rain: correct
Kingdom Hearts: correct
Mac Gyver: Not clear
Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch: incomprehensible
My Nayme Is: It's not entirely clear, but it looks like even the person who put this link in thought this was about pretentious spelling. "if the alternate spelling is considered bizarre in-show, Hollywood Spelling may be deliberately avoided."
One Steve Limit: about not knowing how to spell someone's name, which is close enough.
Psmith Psyndrome: Listed as the inversion, which is about right.
Ross O Carroll Kelly: correct
