General Mario Thread

What I always do to beat the pachinko level is to only use the launching trampoline for the rightmost red coins and then Wall Jump when it's time to get the leftmost one. I noticed that the game still adds momentum from nowhere when I reach the top, but at least I can still backtrack by using the Hover Nozzle.

sunshine and 3d land are the only 3d marios i have yet to complete

Not missing much on fully completing 3d lands.

The pachinko launcher prevents you from going left until you land on something, IIRC.

I just land on one of the topmost pins to cancel the launcher's weird physics.

Talking about Sunshine on here made me jump into 3D All-Stars to try playing it again, because it had been a while since I had last played it.

...I'll be honest, having played through a sizable chunk of it, there's just something about the way Mario controls in the game that makes the game frustrating to play, at least for me. I don't know if it's because of FLUDD or something about Mario himself, but something about Mario's controls just don't feel as smooth to me as they do in other 3D Mario games (including Super Mario 64).

Catching up on Wonder. Man it's so blissful.

i gave away my copy of 3das a while ago and tbh i kinda regret it. i get its a cheap port but its the only way i can play sunshine without emulation

3D Land it's definitely the most boring 3D Mario. It's the only one I haven't completed. I have a friend who thinks it has the best Bowser battle because it incorporates more platforming.

Yeah I’d argue the final Bowser fight in 3D Land is probably my favorite as well.

3D Lane may not be exceptional but for a first attempt at a new style or Mario it was able to avoid a lot of wonkiness that hit 64 and Sunshine.

Poor Lost Levels Mario can die after beating Bowser, resulting in Peach saying the end poem to nobody.

It becomes an eulogy after his Heroic Sacrifice.

Good thing there's also Luigi!

I forgot, but do you need to beat the finale level five times for 100% in 3D World?

Think it was based on if all five playable characters have got to and jumped on the end flagpole in the level.

You could cheat by using multiplayer to have multiple characters touch the goal flag together, but otherwise yes. All five characters need to clear the stage, whether it be on their own or as part of a team.

Nah, but for real, I quite like 3D Land, finding it rather revolutionary for it being a three-dimensional platforming Mario game that finally landed on a handheld console, and while obviously corners were cut as a result… I dunno, I kinda dig the compact feel of the game, how hidden some of the Easter Eggs are, and how the game kinda embraces the fact that it's a 3DS game, having fun with it.

I am glad you like it. Liking things is great!

I also liked 3D Land. I just wish there were more bosses besides just Bowser, Boom Boom and Pom Pom.
