Kid Icarus Uprising

I noticed that there wasn't a dedicated thread for this, so I made one.

So, anyone excited for this?

Awesome looking gameplay? Pit's brawl look? Plot? Multiplayer? 3D usage?

Hell yes!

Nope. Aside from the titular character and a few enemies, this game has nothing to do with the Kid Icarus that I know and love from the NES days. The allure of the original was its cartoonish charm, cute graphics, and simplistic, slow-paced adventure. This new one is over-the-top, whorishly flashy, and too self-serious. This is Kid Icarus for the ADHD generation.

You called it both over-the-top and too self-serious. I don't get that.

Oh well. I guess i'm a fan of ADHD suffering flashy whores then.

I'll grant that judging by the first trailer I've seen, the new Pit seems to have taken a little 'tude from Kratos, but so long as he's not ripping anybody's eyes out, I'll be content.

Funny you should say that. I essentially see him as a complete anti-Kratos in every possible way imaginable. I mean, he's a pure-hearted angel (Literally!) fighting for a god against unambiguous evil in a bright and cheery landscape. Considering the Classical Mythology theme it almost seems as an unintentional Take That!.

The new trailer... am I the only one who notices that the voice acting's a bit different?

I want to know more about that demon hunter.

I just think its funny that its called "Uprising," since that's a pretty literal description of the NES game.

Oh this has plenty to do with the old Kid Icarus games. It has flying and shooting.

No one will claim that this is game is a faithful recreation of the old Kid Icarus's game play, but it deserves the title more than Super Mario Strikers deserves to be called a Mario game.

edit:But on topic, I am excited for it, but anyone who's not has every right to no be excited.

Both Kid Icarus games had some grand ideas that sadly, were never executed all that well. The difficulty turns off most players, some things aren't so self explanatory and the map items are for the most part useless.

I noticed too. Don't know why Pit's voice changed since the first trailer, but he's now voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch. A change for the better, since I never did like the voice from Brawl/the first trailer.

I was amused that Pit chose Mario instead of, well, himself. I guess even a laser-firing angel needs a bit of escapism every now and then.

edit: Oh wait! It makes perfect sense, actually. Brawl showed us that Pit is quite the Mario fanboy.

Hey, I just realized.

Both of the E3 trailers out so far (with the exception of the gameplay trailer) have started with somebody apologizing for being late.

Still, this is last game I expected multiplayer for o-o Then again, I don't usually expect any genre changes to platformers xD Still, looking good.
