Oh, do a little "fire" symbol next to the entry. Unless it's been okayed by a mod.
Fight smart, not fair.Flamebait should get the flame icon indeed. Trivia ... hmm, maybe a pie wheel?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Yes, I do think Flamebait should get the fire icon, since an out-of-place point like that would get people to delete it in a snap (no, really, I'm serious about this).
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Flamebait really needs some sort of icon, and a little fire icon would be good. In the YMMV segregation a lot of flamebait entries have been left on the main pages because there is nothing to mark them.
Please make the flamebait icon as obnoxious as possible.
Are flashing colors supported?
Bumping.
Duplicate threads have been locked. Let's try to keep discussion of this in the one thread, yeah?
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffGreen is the colour people seem to agree on for Trivia in all the other threads.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAnd I suggested a road sign for disambiguations.
Fight smart, not fair.Green would probably fit well for Trivia.
Flame Bait could go with this . I don't think that flashing colours are supported - remember that the Image Uploader forbids animated images.
The roadsign thingy for disambiguations might also work.
Also, while not literally on-topic, we might need a label for "literal" tabs stuff, i.e Accidental Nightmare Fuel, High Octane Nightmare Fuel, Fridge Logic, Fridge Brilliance, Fridge Horror, Tear Jerker, Crowning Moment Of Awesome, Crowning Moment Of Funny and Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming which have their own tabs that are spelled out in the name already.
Finally, while I am not a programmer, this all could possibly be implemented by "snowcloning" the current YMMV notification system.
I am pretty sure it isn't just because Eddie doesn't like them. Remember, this is a images-and-text wiki, supporting animation or flashing colour would likely require a lot of code.
Ah, and I don't think that most readers would be interested in being slammed a tag for Flame Bait stuff into the face every time they read. Let's leave them out of our Flame Wars.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe image uploader forbids animated images cause Eddie tells it to, there's no software issues.
Fight smart, not fair.Right. There's one page that has an animated GIF, but that's it.
I think it was True Art Is Incomprehensible. Edit: Yep.
Also, I think flame bait should just have a still flame image. GIF's are annoying.

Derp. I fail reading comprehension. I'm for a little flame icon.

On a sidenote, there are several tech details: Which page type should show these labels?
Should some of them be controlled by namespace rather than by page type? Or both? (Trivia could be tagged "everything except /Trivia/ or page type "Trope" or "Index"", for example)
How should the labels be distributed? I see Trivia for Trivia, "disambiguation" page type for disambig, the banner for Flame Bait, a dedicated index for "literal" items like I mentioned before?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBumping, becuase I didn't know there was a thread for this. I think trivia should have different marks too, as should character tropes for a character page, if a show has a characters page, and regular non-character tropes that have been put on a character page.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Bump, because I like this idea. I give this a and a .
EDIT: While we are on the topic of changing bullet colors, since we have the "While you're here" on work pages for YMMV stuff, what if had something similar for namespacing? Like "While you're here, please place namespace X in front of work Y"? It would make the namespace migration work we're doing in Special Efforts quicker and easier.

Momentum, a function of mass and velocity, is conserved between portals. In layman's terms: speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out. That's an idea that deserves its own thread.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Indices, at least the most often misused ones (Did Not Do The Research) should also be labeled if used as tropes. Trivia "tropes" (Hey Its That Voice etc) as well.
Hi, folks. I'm bumping this to announce that we spoke with Eddie about this and he's going to be developing something for flagging Trivia and Flame Bait over the weekend. We don't have any details yet but will let you know more when it's ready(ier).
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Here's a new, related suggestion. I've seen several cases where non-YMMV tropes appear on the YMMV page, and I just noticed some edit requests in the locked pages thread for the same thing. I think this probably comes from people thinking that "arguable" examples are YMMV, but it would be nice if tropes on the wrong page were flagged, no matter what the page is.
No YMMV tropes on trivia pages; no trivia tropes on YMMV pages; no regular tropes on either.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Bumping again, because I'm still interested in this, and would also like buttons for when non-YMMV tropes appear on a YMMV trope page.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Should we mark objective tropes with the same red dot that YMMV tropes are on main and character pages?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I would like that.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.
You know how all YMMV entries are marked with a red bullet point?
Well, I'd like to see all Trivia entries to be marked with something similar so that it can be moved to Trivia. I'm asking this because all Trivia banners say the following:
"This entry is trivia, which is cool and all, but not a trope. On a work, it goes on the Trivia tab."
Since putting stuff on the Trivia tab is ignored on many pages, I think there should be some sort of mark that notifies tropers to put Trivia in the Trivia tab.
Similarly, I would like a different marking for Flame Bait entries noticeable so that they can be deleted.
For both Trivia and Flame Bait, there should be some notification on the edit page much like YMMV so that they can be removed.
edit: Oops, didn't notice this thread when making this...
