First thing's first: KEEP. THIS. SHIT. CIVIL. If you can't talk about race without resorting to childish insults and rude generalizations or getting angry at people who don't see it your way, leave the thread.
With that said, I bring you to what can hopefully be the general thread about race.
First, a few starter questions.
- How, if at all, do you feel your race affects your everyday life?
- Do you believe that white people (or whatever the majority race in your area is) receive privileges simply because of the color of their skin. How much?
- Do you believe minorities are discriminated against for the same reason? How much?
- Do you believe that assimilation of cultures is better than people trying to keep their own?
- Affirmative Action. Yea, Nay? Why or why not?
Also, a personal question from me.
- Why (in my experience, not trying to generalize) do white people often try to insist that they aren't white? I can't count the number of times I've heard "I'm not white, I'm 1/4th English, 1/4th German, 1/4th Scandinavian 1/8th Cherokee, and 1/8th Russian," as though 4 of 5 of those things aren't considered "white" by the masses. Is it because you have pride for your ancestry, or an attempt to try and differentiate yourself from all those "other" white people? Or something else altogether?

Good on her. I never seriously thought Swift was a right-wing sympathizer but despite all the controversy it's good that she came out and said this.

This is amusingly ironic after all the people worshipping her as some kind of "Aryan goddess".
TBH, I never liked Taylor Swift's work — her attempts to reinvent herself just didn't click with me. Her remaining reluctant to address the elephant in the living room that was her white supremacist following didn't help.
She has been rather consistent when it comes to supporting women's rights as a whole (I think), so it makes sense that she would eventually decide to vote against Marsha Blackburn, who was a major fan of Phyllis Schafly.
Seriously, Marsha Blackburn considered Phyllis Schafly an idol and the "gold standard" of the conservative movement. And considering Schafly was apparently the real life inspiration of Serena Lovejoy from The Handmaid's Tale...

Disgusted, but not surprisedI don't know who Phyllis Schafly is.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."The biggest Female Misogynist imaginable, basically. I mean maybe not literally but she's up there.
She was the Female Misogynist. I am not exaggerating one iota.
And Marsha Blackburn idolized this person.

Disgusted, but not surprisedNever heard of Phyllis Schafly either, and her wikipedia page..yikes,she was opposed to Roe vs Wade and actively campaigned against the Equal Rights Amendment, were she still around I wonder if she would have supported Donald Trump,in all probably she would have.
New theme music also a boxShe did support Trump. Trump also spoke out in praise of her at her funeral.
BTW, her son Andrew Schafly is the guy who made Conservapedia.
Given all this, it's no wonder Taylor Swift or any supporter of womens' rights would be terrified by the idea of a fan of Schafly becoming a Senator. Especially after Kavanaugh joined the Supreme Court.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSchafly running for president and winning is the worst timeline
New theme music also a boxSpecially telling consideing that by some standar, schafly is pretty much a self made woman who have pursuit her own carrier and is a sort of independent woman....
And decide to atack feminism.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Phyllis Schafly is more than just the female misogynist, but she is also a damn hypocrite. For someone who always talk about woman not acting like what a woman should be, she doesn't practice what she preach.
I'm not as witty as I think I am. It's a scientifically-proven fact.Like I said, she is the real life inspiration for Serena Lovejoy. The difference is that Lovejoy was in a work of fiction and thus received some karmic comeuppance. Schafly was a real person and thus did not suffer a bit for her awful deeds because real life doesn't have narrative causality.
Disgusted, but not surprisedHer son made the conservapedia, didn't he?
Where there's life, there's hope.Yes, yes he did.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI'm gonna regret asking, but what is "Conservapedia"?
Rational Wiki exists to oppose it. That's all you need to know.
Where there's life, there's hope.Basically, someone thought Wikipedia was too "liberal" and decided to make a "proper" Wiki to replace it.
It just gets worse from there. Seriously, don't visit it. Not even for Bile Fascination.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAlso they blocked non US IP addresses from editing
New theme music also a box"her awful deeds because real life doesn't have narrative causality. "
Mostly because she didnt get so far as hand tale so that is good so far.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I'm gonna regret asking, but what is "Conservapedia"?
Imagine Wikipedia.
But the editors and articles are all built by Type 2 Americans who think the One Nation Under God, means that the US is a completely christian nation, think the South losing Civil War the worst thing that ever happened to the US, everything is written under the conservative bible belt (AKA Dumbfuckstain) optic and history is essentially Fudd lore.
At one point the whole website was targeted by trolls, who'd make the articles sound as extreme and stupid as possible. Which was amusing on itself when the actual writers and moderators were having trouble figuring out which parts were legit and which were trolling attempts.
Inter arma enim silent legesThere was a time where the site couldn't go a few months without having a troll worm their way into their staff.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.I would say that is way more important than what you imply. This means that they're so commited to be as.Uber conservative as possible that deny that they might get some words wrong.
Watch me destroying my countryIn fact, acording to Rational wiki, TJ the second in comand who did a "purge" was a in a fact a troll, something many didnt know at all.

Awesome, it's always nice to see White Supremacists getting snubbed by a famous figure in a productive manner. Especially if it's a famous figure who's works I've enjoyed.
It's nice to see someone using their fame to productively benefit the Greater Good of society.
