Sorry, if you're going to make your first ever contribution to the wiki by coming into OTC and going "herp derp, gay marriage is anti-American", you're going to be treated as a troll, intentions or otherwise.

Heck, even if you aren't trying to troll, it's a clear Thread Hop and an extremely rude way to enter a conversation.

I agree with Starship, better to prove someones stance wrong with reason and logic, and give them the opertunity to learn, then just dismiss them.

If Starship had been banned because of his views in the beginning I doubt he would have grown and learn as he has through this at the other similar threads.

I think it's more about the fact that this was that guy's only post. On most sites I've been to, they will eventually ban the person that has never posted anything before ever and comes to post on a controversial topic. I think maybe there could have been a little bit more time before banning, but in my experience people like that usually either don't come back or get worse and worse.

I'm more disappointed that I didn't get to read the troll posts, those can be good entertainment sometimes.

Anyways, where was the discussion?

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.

When Maxima came, he wasn't spouting regurgitated AFA style propaganda.

I don't think that person was a troll, though it can obviously be hard to tell. You can find plenty of similar stuff on the other side's echo chambers.

Maxima was willing to debate in good faith. And therein lies the difference.

I think we should just have a general policy of "don't go into controversial threads before your presence is better established" or something.

My hearty congratulations to her, even if I do think that Four-Star Badass is a dangerous trope to apply to any real person. Unless she bench presses tanks or invades countries by herself, then she's definitely in the running.

[down] Woops, wasn't paying attention. Sorry!

I just wasn't paying full attention to what you wrote. But you don't generally get four star rank on the basis of your individual combat prowess. Modern armies don't work that way.

Still... that kid is still abducted and its doubtful she will get back anytime soon. Child abductors scum; almost nothing justifies putting someone that young through that sort of grief and stress.

So. Would it be illegal under U.S. law to kidnap Ms. Miller out of Nicaragua and haul her back for trial a la Manuel Noriega?

This reminds me of the Elean Gonzolas trial when I was a kid.

The one consolation in all of this is that they lived in a state that had civil unions and they had one. I fear how much legal support would be if they had not had that legal contract.
