I'd read it. Can't say I'm good enough at rhyming to contribute to such a thing.

This idea, if I may say so
Sounds better than nachos con queso
Limericks are a breeze
We can rhyme them with ease
Suck it, Haikus! In your face-o!

It's a map of County Limerick
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Much obliged.
If we are going to do this it should be called the Limerwiki. runs away chortling
Hahaha! zerky'd support that XD

Now I wan't to see the Haiku wiki and the Limerick wiki have a smack-down.

Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianI almost want to say there should just be one giant Grand Unified Poetry Wiki. Otherwise, three years from now, we'll have a Sonnet Wiki, and a Villanelle Wiki, and a Sestina Wiki, and it'll just be a big mess.
132 is the rudest number.
Haiku - Limerick
One will stand and one will fall
Which one will prevail?
—-
A limerick and a haiku
Said to each other "Oi you!"
It was time for a fight
They fought into the night
Such violent poems - who knew?
EDIT: Thanks! How's that for a smackdown anyway?

My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. You mean like
this?
Use \\\\ at the end of the line you want to do that to.
Pretty good, though I'm no expert on these things.

A Howl Wiki for beat poets.
We should call it poetry slam and have a Beatnik for an icon.

Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianIf we do have a poetry wiki, this villanelle I wrote a while back must fit some trope:
What's been said once will be said some more.
There is nothing more for them to say.
They'll say again what they've said before.
For being creative can be such a chore;
to say new things each and every day.
So what's been said once will be said some more.
They won't write down new things they do not care for,
and saying the same thing again is simply child's play
So why not say again what they've said before?
For making new things is such a bore,
that boredom is such a small price to pay,
and what's been said once will be said some more.
A new thing is more than ever they asked for,
it's too much work to be worth it, so they
will of course say again what they've said before.
So they take cliches, rewords, and repeats galore,
(you see how boring the poem is when you write it that way.)
as what's been said once will be said some more,
for they'll say again what they've said before.
Note: the poem is boring and repetitious on purpose.

Reaction Image RepositoryThe problem is that we need to limit it to shorter poems. If we allowed free-verse, people will just start plugging their poems in.
Agreed.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Isn't the definition of a limerick pretty clear? It's a funny poem, five lines, AABBA.
Fuhrmann, es kostet dir noch dein LebenI think there's one thing that people are forgetting. The poetry in the Haiku-Wiki is about the trope. It doesn't just use it. So therefore if someone wanted to write freeverse poetry, they would have to do it in someway that explained the trope. Not just pimp their own poetry.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThat's true for the entries about tropes, but not the ones about works. There's nothing stopping someone from say... writing a bunch of free verse Buffy poetry about their favourite pairing for example.
I would say that is also bad.
Rhymes with "Protracted."It's about the work so it doesn't matter.
"Dr. Strangeloid, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Cleanlink" - thespacephantomHow did this turn from a discussions on limericks to a discussion on freeverse? For the record, limericks are awesome.
At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...
This post requires little explanation.
Relying on its self-demonstration.
We should have a namespace,
Put these rhymes in a place.
Fun being the cause of its creation.
AKA: We should totally do a Limerick Wiki Just for Fun. It'd be like Haiku-Wiki but with limericks.
