[up] I hope it does.

I hear the "escape" scene in that film is completely ludicrous. It sounded so stupid, I considered watching the film.

The steam burn thing reminds me of a fan script I was going to write.

  • Slaughter High: Watched the new release by Arrow Films, who are like a Blue Underground or Code Red situated in Europe. Much, much better quality than the DVD put out by Lionsgate a few years back.
  • Don't Go in the Woods: One of those films where I can't tell if it's So Bad It's Good or So Bad It's Horrible, though I will admit the machete murder was genuinely disturbing. Also, it has one of the most random assortment of victims I've ever seen.
  • Violent Shit: Rewatched it because I found a version with better subtitles on Youtube, of all places; not that it matters, since most of the dialogue is just flurries of profanities. Anyway, still a fucked up, extremely inept and weird film that I would only suggest to those interested in obscure and/or foreign slashers, or extreme gorehounds.
  • Violent Shit II: Mother Hold My Hand: Surprisingly Improved Sequel (though I suppose the grimdark atmosphere of the first is missed) with comedic elements, but still gross as Hell, with stuff like a hook to the balls and a staple gun to the vagina. Has a monster body count (close to forty) due to Karl, Jr. forgoing usual slasher etiquette by shooting up a construction site and porno theater.

So, uh, I was gonna post about how I love Scream and how every self respecting troper must see it, even if they don't like the genre, but that's been said.

So... What did you think of Funny Games? I thought it was excellent. I mean, when the killers break the fucking fourth wall because the victim almost survives and that would be wrong you gotta give them credit.

Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.

[up] I'm not sure I could/would call Funny Games a slasher film. I'd call it an experiment in meta-fiction...and a fairly annoying one, at that. But whoever liked it, more power to them.

I've seen a couple decent notices for a trashy-looking DTV effort called Sweatshop. The villain looks pretty amazing, his weapon is awesome(an ANVIL on a stick, people!), and I heard the film is ridiculously gory...though lacking in any likable characters. It also has a Count Yorga-esque origin, in that it started as an adult film and then turned into something that wasn't.

And...um...how about that Wrong Turn 4? Wasn't the third one bad enough? And the director seems to think 3 was actually a good movie to this very day. Maybe it's good compared to the usual crap he makes(like that SyFy Channel film about the planet full of bears that eat people)...but I don't think he deserves to be graded on a curve.

[up]So far it at least looks better than 3. But as we all know, promotions can be decieving.

[up][up] If you liked Scream, some similarly themed others I'd also recommend are Popcorn and There's Nothing Out There.

Anyway, gonna try and check out the French slasher Inside after finishing the Violent Shit series. Been hearing pretty good things.

[up][up] Yeah, I understand that Funny Games is not fully a slasher movie, even of it does involve serial killers... But why did you find it annoying? It's just curiosity, I'm not gonna bash you for having a different opionion.

[up] I have heard the name There's nothing out there but not about Popcorn. I will look them up. (Of course, if we have an article about them, that's even better, or if you could describe them).

Speaking of Scream, I only watched the first two, thinking of watching the third. Is it really that bad? What about the remake?

Finally, I don't think I am that mcuh of a slasher movie fan. Not because I hate them, but because I haven't watched many. Let's see what I have seen...

  • The first Final Destination movie. Fairly good, want to watch the others.

  • Jason X. Ventured into So Bad, It's Good territory so much, it's a Guilty Pleasure now. Are the other movies like this?

  • The first two Scream movies....

  • ...And Alien, perhaps?

There are others, but I can't rememeber them that much. (Mostly because they were bad). Which classics do you reccomend? I seem to like a more parodic approach, but I'm open to anything.

I seem to like a more parodic approach

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.

Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives was a campy slasher flick and is my favorite of the franchise, but you should watch the 5 that came before it as well.

You might like A Nightmare on Elm St. 3 - 6, as Freddy is pretty jokey in those. If you haven't, watch the original. You might want to skip 2, as most people think it's the worst and it hasn't got much, if anything, to do with any of the following films.

[up][up] There's just something that seems so...holier-than-thou about it.

If you're into a parody approach, maybe you should see Bride of Chucky...and if you haven't seen any of those films, start with Child's Play. They get more bent towards comedy as they go on.

Seeing that Halloween II was released on Blu-ray with its alternate ending and some extra scenes to decent sales gives me hope for a Child's Play 2 Blu-ray with the NBC Universal channel footage. That alternate ending, especially.

1981.

Funny how Michael uses a knife once and then just leaves it in some school to use a less-intimidating scalpel(though I'm sure it was a zillion times sharper). Decent sequel anyway.

What's the alternate ending?

I wish they'd released a 2-disc of Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 with another one of those 4 hour making of documentaries. I love those things.

[up] To be honest, I like it less than the one they used. As it stands, in the alternate ending Jimmy survives slipping on blood and hitting his face on a car horn and he and Laurie live happily ever after.

It's got nothing on the alternate ending to Child's Play 2, which was creepier than the film's original ending and a Sequel Hook, to boot. You'd think since the third film came out nine months later, they'd use that ending...

And I heard that due to new Screen Actor's Guild regulations, Rob Zombie couldn't release another documentary like the ones for The Devil's Rejects and the Halloween remake.

Halloween just got a Parallel Porn Title. Cover.

I'd watch it out of Bile Fascination.

Does anyone have any idea what happened to the page for Child's Play?

[up][up] Ah, so I was mis-linked.

Upon getting the Laid to Rest 2 DVD, it occurs to me that more slasher films need a "jump to a kill" feature like it and the New Line slasher films do on their DV Ds. Occasionally, a splatter scene is the only thing worth revisiting.

After the decent Inside and shitty Last Slumber Party, watched the mediocre Memorial Day, so I got all three bases covered.

[up] I'll probably end up buying Laid to Rest 2, since the only decent rental place in town is gone, leaving only convenience stores that rarely have anything good.

Though I did fittingly find Cornered at one.

Scream 4 is out on DVD and Blu-ray.

Seemed to take unusually long time, but that's probably just me.

On December 13th, one can finally get Intruder on DVD...with all of its insane, disgusting death scenes and obvious plot twists in all of their HD glory.

Also, Hostel: Part III comes out that month. A good month for Scott Spiegel.

Never did care for any of the Hostel films.

Them and Saw are on my film series blacklist.

[up] I thought that Hostel pretty much blew, though Part II was a little better. But anything Scotty is involved in as director, I'm a little interested in.

Saw is THE horror series of the turn of the millennium, for better or worse.

Rewatched Intruder a little while ago. Forgot how stylish it was. And Hostel III has got its poster and trailer released.

So... anybody got any slasher-related Halloween plans?

I'm going to ride the Terror Tram...that's as close as it gets to slasher plans for me.
