^^ Macross Plus the movie.
Do it.
#IceBearForPresidentMovie, OA Vs, who cares. It's Macross Plus. Its all good.
Where can I still get to see Macross Frontier movies? I haven't been able to find them
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...The first movie is still up on animesuki. Evidently, the second movie was just released on DVD on the 20th, so you might consider waiting a while before the subs come up, I guess.
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Good news everyone! Wings of Goodbye has finally been subbed!
#IceBearForPresidentR.I.P. Mr. Ishiguro
So I've seen the Robotech Macross Saga and Do You Remember Love, where do I go from here? I've been told to avoid Macross 2.
I think the one that follows would be Macross Plus.
First, go watch Super Dimension Fortress Macross. The Macross Saga may be the least changed of the series that made up Robotech but it was still changed, most significantly the whole meaning of the word 'protoculture' as well as some other stuff setting up the myth arc. Also one of the odder changes is that in Robotech the SDF-1 was destroyed but in Macross it was merely damaged and repaired and overhauled. The extreme compression that is 'Do You Remember Love?' doesn't get all the changes across completely in my opinion, since it changes some things itself.
But if you want to plow on ahead, its Macross Plus (OAV or movie, they're both awesome), Macross 7 (TV series then its assorted OA Vs), Macross Zero (technically a prequel to SDF Macross but it sets up the next series) and the Macross Frontier.
Oh, second Macross Frontier movie is subbed? Excellent. Time to grab it and Plus.
Anyone know whose hand it is in the credits of the original SDF Macross? And another SDF Macross-related question, I'm watching episode 4 right now, and I just saw a giant tuna. Let me repeat: GIANT TUNA, how is that possible, what, the fold the SDF-1 did turned it big, were Kawamori and company during that time on weed?

Anyone reading this thread, please forget about the first question I asked at .
How giant are we talking here? Because the Atlantic bluefin can grow to up to four-and-a-half metres long.
What's precedent ever done for us?I meant by height, it was probably as tall as a whale. Need to see episode 4 again to check.
EDIT: Just checked episode 4 out, and okay, maybe not whale, probably the size of a Great White Shark.

Great whites are up to six metres long. So, big in comparison to a tuna, but not immense. As an example, here◊ is a particularly large bluefin.
What's precedent ever done for us?Okay, thank you.

I'm pretty disappointed that the Macross series doesn't get a lot of love around here. Now, another user had posted earlier in this thread (about a couple of years ago) that Macross Frontier wasn't written by somebody who cared about Macross. Personally, I like the movies more than the TV show for several reasons, but here's two of them...
1. Leon Mishima's fate is more deserving in the films than in the anime. While Grace was the mastermind, Leon was still the front and wanted to achieve this plan. To do so, he wasted billions of dollars and cost thousands of human lives, and to just have him arrested at the end was a mild ending. Having him be the victim of a Boom, Headshot! in the last movie was a lot more justified for his actions. And this is from a poster who hates excess or extreme violence.
2. Grace O'Connor became more and more humanized. Some Macross fans would prefer her as the Magnificent Bastard (or Complete Monster) variant, but I actually wanted to have a reason to like her since I a fan of her CV. This was continued with Macross 30, in which Grace starts out a boss, but does join the group towards the end of the game.

I got some bad newz to tell you. That reminds me I need to get to the second Frontier movie...
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueIt's good. Seriously good.
Keep Rolling OnNow that the thread is somewhat relevant again, I guess I should say I saw the first (?) series a while back.
Despite Hikaru's questionable stance on women, the animation getting worse with episode in the middle of the show, and occasionally Narmy writing, I enjoyed it.

Just watched Macross Plus (the movie- I have the OVA as well). It was awesome! Definitely need more Macross.
Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodThere was an announcement of an upcoming Macross show on TV. There aren't any more details yet...
Anywho, decided to go back and watch Macross Plus. I realize that I dig the music.
That's probably due to Yoko Kanno.
Always a good plan. I've said it before, but it always worth repeating. Plus is Macross distilled down to its essential elements, concentrating all the franchises good points into a single, four episode package.
@Grand Prince Paul II
Macross was originally going to be called Macbeth, due to one of the creators' love for the play. However, several factors (including possible licensing fees) forced them to come up with some other name. The other creators had other names they wanted to use, hence they decided to compromise. "Mac" (for Macbeth) & "cross" for something else: Macross.
Also, I laugh at how some people complain about Japan adding Japanese tropes in their Japanese animation. In case you didn't notice, you're not part of Macross' target audience. Heck, I'm willing to bet you didn't even pay for them legally, and just illegally downloaded like the rest of us. In which case, you don't have the right to complain in the first place.
Beggars can't be choosers.
