I have a pretty fast computer, but I find when I go to edit the Deadpan Snarker article, the words on-screen lag behind my typing more than they do for most TV Tropes articles. Should this be split like Large Ham is?

yeah, splitting it is probably a good idea.

It looks long enough for a split, but are you sure that the page length causes the slow screen update? I never noticed that connection.

Well, maybe an admin or mod could clarify this for us.

Well it is at 382029 characters out of 500k which leads to the crashes so I dont think that its the problem.

400k though was the cutoff to be safe IIRC so it is close to the split limit but not quite to the point where it will crash the server.

Do we have to wait for the limit to split it? I mean it's already prohibitively long.

Think of it this way: when will this be brought up next? When it's too late?

Well, let's look at it this way. It's already toeing the line of where we autosplit a page. It hasn't quite hit it, but people are noticing a large lag time on it. That lag time is probably a good reason to split.

Sure, why not? It's long enough to split.

Should its subsections URLs be typed with the full trope name (as in, "DeadpanSnarker/Subsection" like is done with Complete Monster) or be typed with just the "snarker" part? (As in, "Snarker/Subsection" like is done with Large Ham?)

I would go with the full DeadpanSnarker, unless there's already subpages out there just using Snarker.

Well, here are all of the subsections that I Have created as of yet.

As explained in the edit history, I've left a couple of subsections on the main page because I'm not sure what to do with them. Sometimes even subpages overlap with other subpages. (Ie. Live Action TV overlapping with Real Life)

So, the way the examples are classified does seem a little messy, and I'm inclined to think there's room for improvement.

... one thing I mentioned in the page history was of moving the religion section into literature, and the new media and fan works into web original, and of treating stand-up comedy as a subset of real-life examples. What do people think of that idea?

... seeing as how I've been presented with no reason not to, I'm going to go ahead with that approach, then.

... also, how do I get the main page index thing linked to from the subpages like Large Ham has?

Put [[index]] tags around the part you want to index, then go to "Set page type" and enable the "Does indexing" field.

What do you mean, "the part you want to index?" My idea was to index the subpages themselves as part of a Deadpan Snarker index...

I mean around the part of the main article that has the list of subpages.

There, got it for you.
