I rolled with it because the alternative was making it very obvious who's usually behind the mask, but I wanted nothing to do with that. But... I did extend the offer to her of rehabilitating with the J-Team. There's... a lot of layers around why I decided to extend that olive branch, and a lot of baggage I still haven't fully managed to unpack, about my last few days under Carmilla's thumb. So... I might need a moment.

Kai: For her second-to-last job she assigned to me — the last one I actually carried out — she introduced me to one Livius Cain. Another centuries-old vampire. He demanded that I break Kahlia out, because he had just as bad — no, worse of a hold on her as Carmilla did on me, and wanted her back in his hands. So I did it. I... had to get Mason's help, because there absolutely was no way I could have done it on my own, so I entrusted my identity with him.

Kai: ...We broke her out. But we didn't hand her off to Livius. We helped her get away. It was— it was a huge risk, and Livius could have killed me right then and there. He didn't, because he was confident that he could find Kahlia on his own.

Kai: Before she fled, she pointed me in the direction of some data she hid in her old apartment. A record of the School's experiments on her as a kid. The very same School that's making themselves known now.

Our relationships with others are important - perhaps the most important, even - but they can also cloud our judgement. It helps to be able to step back and view things from a more objective perspective, and if that's what Rogue is for you, then I consider them to be a force for good. So long as you don't forget that you're still Kai underneath.
