The illusory Colton vanished into black, sinking into the floor and coming up under the lantern, damaging it with a vague blast of pitch before the Runerigus would likely feel a powerful hit behind him, coupled by a few more before the real Colton appeared, back to him, now in his standard jacket.

"Classy move, [Thresh]. Now try it on a Mind of Crystal." As he said this the formless pitch that had been standing among the crowd surrounded the lantern, doing little more than blocking out the light. "Don't look directly at it."

Having had a similar idea, Kamui allowed herself to let her own power on full display, activating Drought and letting the light of the artificial "sun" drown out the lantern's before she attempted to lock eyes with the Ghost-Ground Glitch, a Fire Blast she had been anticipating for a while. Her Shiny fur glistened in the sun, the Ninetales she was by nature on display for the world to see.

Cady: Looks like it's a battle, then. Nocturne, you're up!

-Cady sends out a Chandelure.-

Kat: Okay Chip, let's do this!

Me: -to Cady, trying to keep from uncovering his eyes- We met over two years ago. I was with Milagros, you were a Flabébé and your Gardevoir fell out of a tree.

Evelyn: -thinks to herself as she covers her eyes- How does he remember all this?

Me: -still covering his eyes- Regardless... We've got bigger things to deal with right about now...

Piku-chan: -eyes covered- <Yeah... Like beating this guy without using our eyesight.>

Evelyn: -telepathically to Ian- ~Hey, Ian! This battle is just like the one against Allister's Chandelure.~

Me: -telepathicallly to Evelyn- ~Of course! We can do it again!~

-Ian and Evelyn take their Poké Balls off their obi and throw them into the fray with their eyes closed.-

Me: Raru...

Evelyn: Kako, Mirai...

Evelyn and I: DON'T LOOK!

-The Poké Balls open and out come Raru and the Kirlia Twins, Kako and Mirai. Kako and Mirai cover their eyes. As does Raru, despite his blinding bangs. Another Poké Ball opens and out comes Yuki. Quickly assessing the situation, Yuki closes her eyes.-

Raru: <What's going on here?>

Kako: <If I had my eyes open, I'd definitely compliment your kimonos right about now.>

Mirai: <If you had your eyes open, you'd be hypnotized right about now.>

-Kako facepalms, while Mirai just laughs.-

Yuki: <Shinpaishinaide, Ian-kun. Otetsudai shimasu.>^note Don't worry, Ian-kun. I'll help you.

Me: Matte...^note Wait... Yuki?!

-Evelyn unleashes a wave of psychic power, lifting both her and Hoops into the air, where she then slams the nonbinary trainer into a tree. She then pushes herself off the air and jumps back into a tree.-

The first blast from Colton managed to leave some damage. Those who were able to pick up on this now know the secret to defeating their glitchy enemy. Take out the lantern, and you leave him vulnerable.

Katsuragi was now speaking through his true form, now that he no longer has a mouthpiece.

Katsuragi: <I will not be defeated by barbarians.>

He takes direct control over the museum guide.

Katsuragi via the Guide: You there, sorcerer. Protect the lantern of power. Armies of Spectra. Take care of these interlopers.

The grunts, dressed in the armor of ashigaru, walked forward. Of course, there weren't enough weapon-grade Ranseian swords in the exhibit so many of them took the specimens from other exhibits.

Dr. Clavis approaches the guard and tries to knock him out with his helmet, while his thievul, Dunsworth, covers him. The guide came to rather quickly, freed from Katsuragi's power.

Guide: Thanks, Doc... I guess.

This gave Doc Clavis an idea. While the light of the lantern was washed out, its effects on the thralls was not as strong.

Dr. Clavis: I know this is going to be a longshot, but try knocking them out.

Museum Combat Scene

"[Christ almighty], whatever happened to "handle with care"?" Colton shook his head, decking a grunt with an illusory duplicate and pounding more Dark Pulses than he could count in the heat of the moment at Katsuragi. "Welcome to 2021, idiot."

Hearing the recommendation, Kamui followed up with some Hypnosis flares trailing towards the mooks' temples, their efficacy amplified by the Drought. Should she be able to overpower the lantern's control they'd fall unconscious pretty swiftly.

Circhester, owo

And Daydre is looking back at her, concerned and perhaps a little oblivious.

"Do you uh, want to get out or-"

And then it dawns on her that no, it may not actually be the heat.

"Oh"

Hammerlocke, vs Ironspine

For the briefest of seconds Daydre thinks 'ha, I'm a dark type, this won't work on me'. This is immediately followed by the realization that, oh yeah, she's not in pokeform right now so those rules don't really apply to her.

... But yeah, she's hit and gets the wind knocked out of her. She's still standing, and sends out Kazma while she (quite literally) collects her thoughts.

"Uhh... Go um, attack. That thing." She points in Ironspine's general direction.

Kazma: <Um? You good?>

"Yyeeaah. I'll be fine. Probably."

Kazma shrugs and begins jumping up the pile to Ironspine, intending to come after her with a flurry of kicks when he gets close enough.

Boseman: <Indeed it is me. You have gotten stronger and more honorable in the time we have been together, I can tell. And we have faced a decent number of battles. In those battles, there has been one particular move that I like to use... What move is that?>

Battle at the Museum, VS Katsuragi Suzaku

Salem: -still hypnotized- Yes, Master. Kuro, Helga, Marion! Attack!

-Salem throws two Poké Balls out to the field and out come Kuro and Helga, his two Houndoom.-

Kuro and Helga: AWOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Salem: -hypnotized- Kuro, use Dark Pulse. Helga, use Nasty Plot. Marion, use Thunderbolt. Protect the lantern.

-Kuro unleashes a wave of dark energy from his mouth at anyone who would attempt to attack the lantern. Helga thinks up all sorts of schemes to deal with anyone who would harm the lantern. Marion rubs her hands together and unleashes a high power bolt of static electricity at her opponents.-

Me: -covering my eyes- Piku-chan! Use your Thunderbolt!

-Piku-chan, while covering his eyes, surrounds himself in electricity and fires a bolt of energy at Marion's Thunderbolt. The two electric attacks meet in the middle and both Pokémon exert more power attempting to gain the upper hand.-

Evelyn: -covering her eyes- Kako, Mirai! Follow your hearts!

-Kako and Mirai hold hands while keeping their eyes closed and stomp the ground, sending a wave of psychic energy rippling through the room, allowing the twins to sense the thoughts of those around them.-

Me: -covering my eyes- Raru, follow your heart as well.

-Raru does the same thing, allowing him to sense the thoughts of those around him.-

Me: Yuki-sama, Reitō bīmu o shiyō!^note Yuki-sama, use Ice Beam!

Yuki: <Hai!>

-Yuki fires a subzero energy beam at some of the brainwashed goons, encasing them in a block of ice.-

Yuki: -thinks to herself- Why did it have to be today of all days? If it were up to me, I would've told them my story when we were in Snowpoint City... But if Katsuragi-sama leaves me no choice, I have to do it... To protect them.

Kim: (thinking to herself) This is easy. I saw it a lot during Ian's battle.

Kim: "Hex, of course."

Cady: (to Ian) As I was saying, I'm from an alternate reality. I'm not the Cady you apparently know.

Kat: Sounds like this world's versions of us get into these kinds of situations on a regular basis. Chip, try and take out some of those grunts with Fake Out!

Cady: Nocturne! Shadow ball!

-Chip charges into the fray to try and hit someone. Nocturne meanwhile keeps their distance and fires off shadow balls.-

Oliver: Huh. Me and my friends woke up here this morning too. I'm pretty sure this isn't the Galar we come from.

-Ivy nods.-

Marcus: ~Does this day normally cause weird stuff to happen?~

The runerigus fires a shadow claw at Colton, but is misdirected by the shadow ball fired by Nocturne. He turns to his attacker. Katsuragi was not amused at the slightest.

Katsuragi: <I will not be made a fool by a candlestick.>

He fires an earthquake at his assailant.

The guide and Dr. Clavis hurriedly tried to grab at any of the porcelain ware in an attempt to prevent them from getting damaged.

Dr. Clavis: Whatever happened to protect the Ghost Lord's treasures!

Katsuragi: <Silence, barbarian!>

In the ensuing chaos, Dr. Clavis and the museum guide have dragged a few of the grunts knocked out by Kamui. Two of them were, fortunately, museum guards.

The guide tied up the remaining grunts and took away their polearms.

Museum guard 1: Doctor Clavis! What happened?

Dr. Clavis: Right, you were mind controlled by the anomalous runerigus over there. This explains why you're wearing ashigaru armor—with a gladius. Arceus, this feels so wrong.

Guide: Don't worry. The J-Team and the ghost lord's great granddaughter are here to help us!

Museum guard 2: The J-Team? Here?

Dr. Clavis: I was made aware that most of Ms. Knight's companions were members of the J-Team by her cousin.

Guide: And that young woman over there is clearly one of them.

Museum guard 1: And is that the man who wrote the Prax Obscura? Gotta get my copy signed.

Dr. Clavis: We can focus on that later. Right now, it's hard to break out of the control of the runerigus without getting knocked unconscious. Use this to your advantage. Help out your fellow guards while taking all the weapons away from the thieves.

Museum guard 2: You got it, guv!

Dr. Clavis: Dunsworth, fire foul play on the runegrigus.

Dunsworth: <As you wish, doctor!>

Dr. Clavis: And whatever you do, avoid looking directly at the lantern!

Galarian Museum, VS Katsuragi Suzaku

Me: -covering my eyes- That makes a lot more sense.

Evelyn: -covering her eyes- Kako, Mirai! Use Magical Leaf of Katsuragi-sama!

-Kako and Mirai surround themselves in a flurry of rainbow-colored leaves, which swirl around them as they perform a pas de deux together. The twins then launch the flurry of leaves at Katsuragi-sama.-

Me: -covering my eyes- Yuki, use Shadow Ball! Raru, use Shadow Sneak!

Yuki: -with her eyes closed- <Hai!>

-Yuki gathers a shadowy energy and focuses it between the palms of her hands, forming an orb of shadow energy and throws it at Katsuragi-sama. Raru surrounds himself in a shadowy aura and punches the ground, causing a shadowy copy of Raru to rise up from the ground behind the glitchy Runerigus and punch him in the back.-

Recognizing the Night Slash, Colton smirked and held up a finger, swiping it in front of him and creating a concussive burst of pitch that was aimed at everyone not on his side. It was a bit difficult to avoid the priceless artifacts, but he managed with a bit of help from a Fire Spin around the Runerigus guiding his aim.

"Thanks, Kamui!"

<Yep!> She barked, continuing to protect her gaze from the lantern with an equally concussive Extrasensory making her eyes glow and muddy its light.

Kim: (to herself) Again. This is simple.

Kim: "The scene in Avengers: Endgame where Ebony Liepard and the group of Wakandans come out of the portals and all scream 'YIBAMBE!'"

Boseman: <Indeed it is. You know me well. Farewell, Kim. UNOVA FOREVER!>

Kim: (performing the Wakanda salute) "UNOVA FOREVER!"

(Static. Boseman's voice fades.)

Lucky shot! Nocturne's inferno manages to hit the lantern. It's hot now. Very hot. . It was enough to affect the integrity of the lantern's runes, which have warped somewhat as the metal expands. It leaves a very distinct opening for someone to try and freeze it

It was enough of an interruption of the PSI-stone's power to weaken the flow of anomalous energy. Katsuragi took on a few more blows from Kamui, Colton, Kako, Mirai, Raru, and Yuki .

Meanwhile, Dr. Clavis and his assistant rummage through the artifacts after having pulled a few more unconscious mooks. It was no small feat for an elderly gentleman and a young man who clearly doesn't work out.

-Yuki notices the lantern's heat damage and thinks to herself "Now's my chance!"-

-Eventually, Marion loses the beam struggle and Piku-chan's Thunderbolt hits her.-

Salem: -still hypnotized- Kuro, use Flamethrower on Helga. Helga, use Fire Blast on the man and his fox. Marion, use    Curse    on everyone but the Princess. She must be spared.

-Kuro breathes fire at Helga, who absorbs the heat of the flames. Helga then jumps up and unleashes a blast of fire shaped like the 大 [Kanji] at Colton and Kamui. Marion obediently unzips her mouth and lets out a horrid bellow...    A pillar of dark energy rises into the air as thirteen black flames surround Marion, each flame comprised of a cursed aura. The black Will-o-wisps circle around Marion until she unleashes them upon everyone in the party of J-Teamers except for Ms. Gale Knight.   -

Yuki: -to Ian and Evelyn- <I'll be right back.>

Evelyn and I: -still covering our eyes- We'll be right here.

-Yuki leaves the room to find a Cleanse Tag, which happens to be in the next room. She then returns with the Cleanse Tag and focuses her spiritual energies throughout her body and the talisman to empower it...-

Yuki: <Rin... Pyo... To... Sha... Kai... Jin... Retsu... Zai... ZEN!!>

-Yuki straightens out the Cleanse Tag with her mind and throws it at the lantern, backing it with a strong blast of wind and snow. The Cleanse Tag dispels the black wisps with ease, as if Yuki had done this before...-

Meanwhile...

-Croaku is mopping up the toxic sludge he coughed up. Hey. He said he would.-

-Kai tilts her head curiously as she listens.-

Kai: Oh, interesting. I'll admit, I'd always sort of thought it was something you always knew how to do intentionally.

-She chuckles quietly.-

Kai: Admittedly, that's a bit shaped by the couple J-TV episodes I'd seen before I got dragged in properly, but... well, even after, you always had this air of, like, all-knowing mystery to you. Not really omniscience, but. ah, how to put this...

-She quietly taps her fingers on the table as she thinks.-

Kai: Like... okay, when I was fey, I sort of got this understanding of how much the world functions as a story. I can't exactly go to the library and pull out a book and read it as it updates in real time, I couldn't even tell you what it would be titled or who's writing it or who the main character is. But there's themes, there's tropes, there's patterns of tragedy and catharsis and ironic circumstance that defy what you'd expect of true random chance. But you? You seemed like the sort who can read that book as it's written. And you still sorta do, but it's... easier, now that I'm getting to know you, to tell that you're more human than that impression gave.

-She pauses, and an awkward, apologetic look crosses her face.-

Kai: Ah, sorry, that's kind of weird, isn't it? That got weird.

Cady: Nice one! Nocturne! Take that fire blast!

-Nocturne tries to fly in front of Colton and Kamui to absorb the fire blast with Flash Fire.-

-Then the curse hits. Nocturne will probably faint soon.-

Kat: You're doing great, Chip! Keep at it!

-Chip keeps attacking various grunts.-

Defiant Wing

-Gale's helmet went on as soon as Silas mentioned that peoplemons would be coming aboard the ship to take the prisoner, but this seemed to be more about disguise than it was about any imminent action. She didn't even really look that hard at the hologram before speaking up-

The Flagship's weakness is the crew, but it needs to be handled a specific way to stay that way. I think with our boarding crew and no one messing things up, we stand a very good chance at destroying it.

-She gestures vaguely at the layout-

The furthest left and right weapon control pods have no internal connection to the rest of the ship, which means we'd have to make specific teleports to them in order to dispatch the crew, but it also means crew in there cannot return to the main body of the ship if for instance the rest of the crew has been knocked out and systems destroyed by a boarding party.

-There's something rather cold about her tactical analysis-

And we do want to keep at least one member of the crew alive. I've analysed the capabilities of the ship and there is a nasty little failsafe that makes our job way harder if they all go down. The Rebellion loves their autonomous drone ships with self-repair systems...

Post-Heist Meal

Oh don't worry. Your little reckoning is basically correct, I've got this odd little prescience that I have no clue where it originates but it just... It's understanding and it feels like I've always had it. Helps me identify when something else is sticking it's plotline into our world too.

-Gale chuckles slightly before going rather grim-faced-

Of course sometimes it's... Scary. Like when I find something I can't recognize or... Or I end up speculating based on signs and omens...

-Gale had been a little absentminded during the opening flurries of this fight after being given the sword of her ancestor (and fairly good friend). Eventually, she tried to wield the Nodachi in one hand and her cool white sword in the other-

Well, if my deposed servant is playing the role of [Thresh] and I'm carrying two swords and a [Ranseian] garb... Heh, that works.

-With a little flourish Gale set to work, running in with both blades trailing in order to strike at Katsuragi's rocky shell-

It took everything Colton had to not facepalm, simply gritting his teeth while extending a Protect barrier to catch and block a few flares while using his other hand to extend an illusory, shadowy grip to deck a few more lackeys and their Runerigus master in the face. Okay the last one was slashed and then the hand exploded but still.

Kamui, equally annoyed, added in a Fire Blast to deal with the other one, her Charcoal and Drought likely giving her the edge in the fireball war. Upon noticing Pent, though, an idea crossed her mind before she shook her head. Civilians were watching!
