You might as well just delete the page. This is a section of Cartoon Network history that I think everyone is glad to forget. Either that or just move it to the Darth Wiki page.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.edited 26th Feb '11 12:34:54 PM by nuclearneo577
Describe what it is, in nice, neutral terms. Say that it failed, and lock the page.
Problem solved.
What about telling the truth even if it's not flattering? Because right now the CN Real page isn't anything worse than that.
The new It Just Bugs Me!I agree. Although I think that everything being written is accurate, it still reads like an Encyclopedia Dramatica entry. There is very little neutral analysis of the topic, nor is there anything worth noting in the grand scheme of things (meaning, in the scheme of broadcast history; I'm sure that when Cartoon Network changed from showing Looney Toons to actually premiering its own shows, there must have been some people complaining).
From the tone of the entry, it almost looks like one person wrote the entire article and actually opted for a C Nreal article just to b**** about it rather than to actually make any new or worthwhile observations.
"When lights out/I'm like a gremlin/Feed me hiphop and I start tremblin'"—Eric B. and RakimI still think that it should be cut and some of the stuff included in Cartoon Network.
Well, I tried to neutralize it and the YMMV a little bit more. I'd like know how "The idiots who host the show" survived...
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.If it has to stay, I think we should remove the tropes and argenfangles it lists and lock it.
Everything you need to know about it is in the description.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianI don't see a reason to lock it if we're going to delete the trope examples.
The new It Just Bugs Me!The description of CN Real itself is actually pretty good. Even up to the shows it's not horrible.
And there's not enough of a trope list for it to be really an issue either, so I'm supporting pretty much leaving it as it is. Maybe trim down the stuff about Dude What Would Happen, that one seems a little excessively harsh.
I'm convinced that our modern day analogues to ancient scholars are comedians. -0dd1Yesterday, I removed the "The idiots who host the show" bit.
Today, I see "The ditzes hosting the show".
Why is redhead so bent on including petty insults?
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.I see that.
- Dude What Would Happen?: Jackass meets Myth Busters minus the whole "scientific process" (Brainiac Science Abuse, if you're British). The idiots who host the show only do stuff just for sheer curiosity to see what would happen. Turning a VW Beetle into a swimming pool? Check. Recreate a prom dance by incorporating Dance Dance Revolution, and then wreck it all up by driving a prom limo around like a demolition derby? Check. See whether peanut butter sticks best to more peanut butter, grape jelly, or bananas by coating the hosts in it and see how long they can stick to an inclined wall? Check. Originally replaced Destroy Build Destroy; the two shows now run together. They are the only two surviving CN Real programs.'

then he changes it to

I am pretty much on the side of Lock the page and let edits go though the forums.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!The hell?
Looks like it really does need locking.
For the record, never underestimate people's capacity to be bitter at something.
You neglected to show the edit where I changed "idiots" to a more neutral "ditzes", not realizing that that the word was apparently that offensive. I'll leave it at "hosts". I was trying to describe the show, not make "petty insults".
Nor their ability to forget something after it's been out of the spotlight for long enough.

The new It Just Bugs Me!Redhead, this has nothing to do with anyone's attitude toward the network or shows in question. It has everything to do with the wiki's stance on keeping works articles about the work, not about people's opinions of the work. Value judgements by tropers in the article are strongly discouraged, especially when negative. We have Reviews, YMMV, Just Bugs Me, and Fridge pages for you to tell everyone how badly they suck.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I wasn't judging them. It's not an insult and it's not inherently negative. "Ditzy" means scatterbrained, silly. And it's clear from the name of the show to the hosts' speech patterns to the nature of the episodes that the hosts are supposed to be a mixture of The Ditz and Cloudcuckoolanders. It's like Beavis And Butthead. Reality TV is not real life: tropes that are objective in any other medium are objective here, too. It's not my opinion, and if you're going to say that me calling the hosts ditzes is wrong even though it's an objective trope, then you can just tell TRS that you want to make that trope subjective. If you think Reality TV entries shouldn't list character tropes, tell that to TRS or Wiki Talk.
Read my edits. Did any of my edits, even one, indicate that I want to fill the page with negative ranting, and that I don't want to salvage this page by putting useful info in it? If so, feel free to revert it.

The new It Just Bugs Me!Looking at this page and thread it seems that The best thing would be to sandbox this. After that is finished I say lock it for a month or two.
95% bile. 100% accurate.
It is as much neutrality that can be given to total failure. When the company itself tries to rewrite history and pretend it never happened, it's a pretty sure bet there's not a ton of positivity to bring to the table.
It's really not that bad. Only a few minor changes needed, if that.
They lost me. Forgot me. Made you from parts of me. If you're the One, my father's son, what am I supposed to be?It looks pretty fixed (and stable) right now. Lock the thread or lock the page?
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Nothing is more miserable than locking a page. No one can edit it to add more information or make it a better article. Why lock it? Because you're too lazy to keep it clean? I get that it's frustrating to keep removing bad examples—it's a problem I keep fighting with Audio Erotica—but I'd rather not just lock a page. Add some notes to keep excessive bile out.
Helter, if there's one thing that we've learned, it's that controversial articles don't stop being controversial just because we put up a big warning about it. In the end it comes down to how much work it makes for the mods. This is a private wiki and editing is a privilege.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I know, but I wish we'd at least try. I just get sad every time a trope page is locked so no one can edit it. Like The Chick. Such a prevalent, popular, useful trope, and we can't touch it because of misguided people with soapboxes. Some tropes I understand being locked, just not one that isn't inherently inflammatory, like this one.
bump, do we need that Nice Job Breaking It, Hero entry?
Aaaaaaand I just deleted more bile.
