This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Yeah she'd be way creeped out by the idea having sex & then bearing the kids of what is effectively the father of one of her closest & oldest friends & current boyfriend.
Plus the fact Norman is not a very attractive man in general as well as being a remorseless vile monstrous sociopath utterly lacking in any sort of humanity who murdered a version of her makes it extremely worse.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I think she went up against an evil Norman on Doom's Battleworld, but I don't think she remembers the events of Secret Wars.

It amazes me that Marvel would choose to revisit that story for what is supposed to be an anniversary self-congratulatory issue that apparently is just Marvel #1000 in a symbolic sense based on what I've read. Apparently they want the 80th Anniversary to mean something. I mean the Milestone Celebration ritual makes it clear it's 25, 50, and then a 100. 80 means nothing.
Apparently it's going to be a meta-comic where JMS apologizes in page and explains what he intended in it and so on...based on some solicitations I read. I mean this is JMS returning to Spider-Man and this is what they want to do?
Spider Gwen seems like she’s never happy to hear anything about alt Gwens because it’s either bad or dead
The one exception is that split timeline Gwen who she met who was pretty cool and then didn’t get Goblined
Marvel celebrates non multiples of 25 a lot
Even so the one shot callbacks to their old sci fi, horror, war, and western mags have been pretty entertaining

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think they gave creators Carte Blanche to do what they wanted.

Wait what JMS intended....... So Peter's gonna be a father now?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."You know what would be a neat anniversary thing?
Find where Norman tossed that spider baby and bring back May
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe best way to deal with important plot points like "the hero's child has been kidnapped and assumed dead" is to ignore them forever and pretend they never happened.
You ever notice every single problem with Spider-Man in the last 30 years has resulted from the head honchos complaining he was too old?
No the best way is to have May come back as a child ninja, pissed at being abandoned
Just like Cheryl from Archer suggested
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAccording to Quesada, Post-OMD continuity...the baby never happened. MJ never got pregnant during the clone saga and so on.
Renew Your Vows did sorta touch on that though.
Sure but what does he know?
Does he know why kids like Cinnamon Toast Crunch? How can we believe his account of things when it was so garbled
Non-facetiously though it would be just like Mephisto to leave the baby around just to fuck with Peter and MJ. The not-devil is a dick

Forever liveblogging the AvengersYou know with Spider-Man being bi-monthly, Spencer has done 25 issues in his first year. If he stays on the title for four years he's done a 100. But if he stays for 8 years that means he'll do 200. And 199 issues from ASM#801 (Slott's last) is ASM #1000. The first Marvel flagship title to make it that far (even Fantastic Four hasn't made it). You think Spencer will stick around for that Milestone?
Eh, maybe. Slott certainly stuck around for a while. But eight year runs are few and far between.
In Spider-Man long runs have become more common since Michelinie. Micheline wrote Spider-Man from 1987-1994, JMS from 2001-2007. Slott's run was 8 years from 2010-2018, while if you include his time on BND where he contributed a lot of issues in that period with multiple writers it goes to a decade.
It would be surprising if Spencer drops out less than five years.
You ever notice every single problem with Spider-Man in the last 30 years has resulted from the head honchos complaining he was too old?
How does ignoring the baby fix that problem?
Because naturally nobody will ever bring it up and forget about all it! Fandoms are well known for their inability to recall dropped plot points.
I think that was the actual reason they dropped that plotline. Instead everyone asked what happened with it.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Poor Mayday.
Of course, it feels like something that'd kill the jokey Spider-Man unless it's resolved, but Marvel is going "I AM NOT OLD!", so they just tried to quietly bury it.
Wake me up at your own risk. That would give some credence to the idea that Mephisto wanted their kid though.
I don't think Quesada or anyone intended any detailed world-building. The truth is bringing Mephisto to Spider-Man's corner was always a s—ty idea that broke the norms of Spider-Man's continuity and trying to find some grand plan makes no sense. The way to resolve this conundrum is to ensure that Spider-Man beats Mephisto so hard that he ends up going crying in the corner and everyone decides to never speak of that mess again. That's what everyone wants anyway.
Now is a good time to spank him too
He’s smarting from losing his throne to Johnny Blaze but still thinks he’s hot shit who can own a chessboard with character shaped pieces
Also he keeps messing with other spiders recently. He must be spider stomped and also MJ mashed
I’m not adverse to some kind of fiddle contest or teamup story for this

The most hilarious thing about OMD to me is that is actually reinforces the 'ship it's trying to sink. Like, we're explicitly told MJ and Pete have a love so powerful and holy that the Devil himself has a personal vested interest in getting rid of it.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."
Judging by wiki Earth 65 Norman Osborn didn’t get up to much worth noting
But he is the dad of Harry who is Gwen’s friend and I think love interest
So it would be weird and creepy, yeah
